Dragon fruit exhibits somewhat of a sweeter flavor profile, but it doesn’t have a strong flavor. Many people find it difficult to articulate exactly how it tastes, but it is an enjoyable fruit to eat. Make sure to discard the skin, as you do not want to add that to your smoothie. Additionally, dragon fruit is very low in calories, rich in fiber, and high in vitamin C and iron.

The banana provides both sweetness and creaminess, while the mango comes to the forefront with the signature sweet and mildly tart flavor. And then you have the lime juice, which may seem like an odd choice, but it takes this smoothie to another level. If it didn’t have the lime juice, it may not have made it on the website! We only have room for delicious recipes, people. The last thing to keep in mind is that it’s best to freeze the dragon fruit, banana, and mango prior to making the smoothie, but you don’t have to do that. Simply add ice if you choose not to freeze your fruit.

There’s no wrong way to go about this recipe because the goal is to create something that you enjoy.

Too often do smoothies contain strawberries and spinach. Not today, people! Well, we wouldn’t be opposed to throwing a handful of spinach into this smoothie, but that’s entirely up to you. Keep in mind that it will change the color of the smoothie, though. Kiwi is an underutilized ingredient in smoothie recipes, but it makes a great addition, both for the flavor and for the nutrients it offers. One cup of kiwi fruit contains 552 mg of potassium, which is more than a small banana, and more than 270% of the recommended daily value (DV) of vitamin C. Additionally, it offers five grams of fiber and 89% of the DV of vitamin K, which aids blood clotting and the absorption of vitamin D.

One thing to note is that some people develop and itchy mouth after eating kiwis. This is due to the seeds, of which there are a lot in a kiwi fruit. If you know that you have this sensitivity, you can cut the outer flesh of the kiwi and omit the center part with the seeds. Should you go down that road, you’ll have to use more kiwis to make up for parts that you aren’t eating. We hope you enjoy this tropical smoothie!
