If you are ever lucky enough to get your hands on some heirloom tomatoes, use them wisely. Make sure that you enjoy them raw to appreciate their sweetness because they are a notch above your average tomato. Combine that juicy sweetness of heirloom tomatoes with the fresh, sweetly tart nectarines that are readily available during summer and you’ve got summer in a bowl. Although it is a simple combination, it is highly addictive and we think you’ll love it.

Nectarines belong to the stone fruit family, but unlike peaches, nectarines have a smooth skin. They come in yellow or white varieties and vary in shape. For this salad, you want nectarines that are not overripe. The last thing you want are mushy nectarines! They should have a slightly firm texture to contrast the soft and juicy heirloom tomatoes. Nectarines that are slightly firmer also offer a flavor that is slightly more tart, which complements the other herbs in this salad.

Because all of the ingredients in this salad are delicate, make sure that you don’t over-toss the salad. A light toss will do to ensure that all ingredients are coated in the dressing. You can pour the ingredients directly over the salad, instead of whisking separately in a small bowl. The simple dressing is very bright and provides the acidity to balance the sweetness of the nectarines and tomatoes.

If you want to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet, start making smoothies. You can customize smoothies to align with your taste preferences, tailoring levels of sweetness, tartness, or bitterness to your liking. Plus, smoothies can help fill you up, provide you with lots of nutrients in one fell swoop, and help cool you down on hot summer days.

What flavors do you want to refresh your palate during the summer months? Tropical ingredients, such as mango, pineapple, papaya, kiwi, and acai tend to do just that! You don’t have to rush out to a specialty grocery store to grab the most exotic, tropical fruits you can find. A simple banana, blueberry, spinach, and mango smoothie will do you right! If you want to mix it up, though, you can enjoy the recipes in this article.

The Benefits Of Smoothies

Not only are smoothies delicious and refreshing, but they also provide essential nutrients that encourage optimal, overall health. Fruits, especially tropical varieties, tend to overpower the flavor of greens, which is great considering that a lot of people don’t consume enough greens every day. Spinach, however, does not exhibit strong flavor, despite the fact that it transforms the color to a rich emerald.

Hydration is of extra importance during the summer months. Most people don’t drink enough water as it is, and tend to drink dehydrating beverages, such as soda, alcohol, or caffeinated drinks. You can enhance your hydration efforts by consuming smoothies, especially when you add water-rich fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon, cucumber, citrus, or melons.

Finally, smoothies can be a helpful tool for total weight management. Smoothies are typically low-calorie meal options, unless you add lots of nuts or nut butters. The fiber from the fruits and vegetables helps keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer periods of time, which prevents overeating. If that sounds great to you, continue reading for five healthy and refreshing summer smoothies

Allow us to introduce you to the ultimate summer sidekick: the amazingly zesty, summer salad dressing Is this refreshing concoction just like a cool breeze on a hot day? We can’t say that for sure, but we can say that your taste buds will not be disappointed with the flavor.

This salad dressing is a harmonious blend of sweet and tangy coconut aminos and bright basil and green onion, with a subtle garlicky kick. It’s like a zesty, summery party of flavors in every bite! Because the dressing has so many assertive ingredients, it can handle greens like kale, chard, red or green cabbage, and romaine. Additionally, adding fruit to the salad can bring a lovely sweetness that complements the acidic nature of the dressing.

This dressing even works for post-cleanse recipes, such as a marinade for grilled veggies, portobello burgers, or tempeh or tofu. You don’t need a lot of salt because the coconut aminos add a rich, savory flavor, while the herbs bring a burst of freshness. It’s easy to say that a nutritious bowl of raw vegetables is nutritious. How do you turn a bunch of raw vegetables into a delicious dish, though? Some people say that it’s easier said than done, but say, “No problem.” If you have some vegetables and don’t want to eat another salad on the raw vegan diet, a great alternative is a raw soup. Additionally, this soup is a great alternative if you have extra zucchini don’t want to eat zoodle dishes any more.

Just like making a smoothie, all you have to do is cut up your vegetables and blend them together. Unlike a smoothie, you will add a few things that would not taste great slurping through a straw. For example, this raw soup contains fresh dill, garlic cloves, coconut aminos, and sea salt. The best advice we can give you is to use the fresh dill, not dried dill. The soup will be much less aromatic and flavorful without that fresh herb. We promise you that it is 100% worth it to seek out fresh dill, even if you have the dried version in your spice rack.

One piece of advice that we have for you is that you may want to wait to make this soup until the weather is a little warmer. It can be very refreshing when the sun is out. A pro raw vegan tip is to blend the soup for a few minutes on high to naturally warm it up. Don’t worry, this does not cook the vegetables; rather, the high-speed revolutions can naturally warm up the blended mixture. This is just something to consider if you take a liking to raw soups like this one.

Year after year, more and more people continue to embrace plant-based diets. A 2021 survey found that 65% of people in the United States consumed plant-based meat alternatives in the previous year. Some people go plant-based to feel healthier and others do it for environmental reasons. Whatever your reason for wanting to eat more plant-based meals, we support you!

You have most likely seen plant-based meat options in restaurants and grocery stores. Health experts project that the global market value of meat substitutes will reach more than 35 billion dollars by 2027. Currently, the U.S. market for plant-based foods is worth seven billion dollars alone. Impossible burgers, black bean patties, Beyond sausages, and more are commonplace in today’s culinary scene. If you want to be healthy, though, relying on those vegan options is not the way to go.

The unfortunate reality is that those vegan meat substitutes are appealing as “much healthier” alternatives to meat. Those lab-created foods are rich in lots of processed ingredients, preservatives, and sodium, so overconsumption can lead to health complications. If you truly want to reap the health benefits of eating more plant-based meal options, it is better to eat more fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. The following recipes focus on real foods and we hope they inspire your next summer barbecue.

Summer translates to carefree fun in the sun, outdoor activities, and social gatherings, but it also invites unhealthy cravings. Foods that people consider classic refreshments, snacks, and desserts rack up excess calories. If the goal is to stay slim and summertime fine, the last thing you want is to accumulate waste in the body. Unfortunately, summer snacks and drinks can easily make that happen.

That’s where detox iced teas come enter the equation. Sip rejuvenating beverages that enhance hydration efforts and simultaneously aid with flushing harmful toxins out of the body. Regular consumption of these detox iced teas may aid weight loss efforts by increasing metabolism. It’s important to note that drinking detox teas and maintaining an unhealthy diet will not yield positive results. The teas do not simply cancel out poor lifestyle choices and unhealthy eating habits. Losing weight requires a multi-faceted approach, and these teas merely enhance weight loss efforts.

How Can Teas Boost Weight Loss?

One of the primary compounds of green tea leaves is caffeine. It acts as a mild stimulant that works to improve exercise performance and fat burning. According to research, the most impressive aspect of green tea’s nutritional profile is the antioxidant content. Researchers confirmed that drinking green tea works to slowly increase blood antioxidant levels. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the standout antioxidant in green tea and it has been known to boost metabolism.

In order to burn fat, the body has to break down fat cells and move them into the bloodstream. EGCG works to inhibit an enzyme that breaks down norepinephrine, a hormone involved in fat burning. By inhibiting this enzyme, norepinephrine increases to enhance the breakdown of fat cells. Caffeine may also enhance the efforts of EGCG on fat cells. Additionally, EGCG increases the body’s ability to burn more calories, even at resting metabolic rate. Most studies confirmed that people who drank green tea experienced a 3-4% increase in metabolism. If you follow a 2,000 calorie per day diet, that translates to about 60-80 calories.

We gathered three impressive detox iced tea recipes that can enhance your weight loss efforts. Sip them throughout summer and let us know how you enjoy them in the comments.
