If there is one thing that is consistent with the beginning of the year, it is the desire to either get healthy, get fit, or lose weight. Losing weight, or detoxing, is a common New Year’s resolution because of all the holiday eating that happens before the beginning of the year. Most holiday meals are heavy, carb-centric, and full of unhealthy fats, sugar and sodium. People have the power to eat unhealthy throughout the year, though. We want to help you dig yourself out of the hole of heavy meals and into a healthier, lighter self.

Detoxing does not mean that you have to abstain from food. On the contrary, you want to eat food, but it has to be food that provides essential nutrients to the body. Additionally, you want to eliminate unwanted sugars, processed foods, and excess carbohydrates. Finally, flood the body with water and herbal teas to properly hydrate and flush toxins from your system. Below, you’ll find some helpful tips to detox after a lot of heavy eating.

Drink Healthy Waters

This is not an endorsement to purchase bottled sugary, electrolyte beverages from the store. If the color is reminiscent of a nuclear fluid (think lime green, blue, or bright yellow), you can count that out. Good old fashioned filtered water is life, but you can enhance this water to encourage detoxification. Add fresh cucumber slices, lime wedges, orange wheels, berries, pineapple cubes, and herbs to your water. Infusing these types of ingredients into your water can impart their nutrients into the liquid. Not only do they enhance the nutritional properties of your water, but they also make your water taste that much better!

Load Up On Negative Calorie Foods

There is no such thing as a food that has zero calories. There are, however, foods that are so light in calories that the body burns just as much or more calories digesting them. The idea behind detoxing is that you want to give the body a lot of nutrients and water. Foods that are very low in calories and high in water include cucumbers, asparagus, apples, watermelon, blueberries, lettuce, cantaloupe, broccoli, and cauliflower. The combination of the nutrients and water content will help the body flush out all the excess food you consumed.

Don’t Be Afraid To Nap

It should be noted that you can nap too much. If you decide to nap, especially in the afternoon, try to keep naps to 20-30 minutes in length. Sleeping too much can negatively affect your sleep cycle, or make it difficult to fall asleep at night. Sleep is necessary for the body, as it is the body’s way of rejuvenating itself. Just don’t rest too much, or you will feel groggy and out of sorts. Lack of sleep can negatively affect digestion, metabolism, and energy levels, which impairs your ability to naturally detox.

Dry Brush Your Body

Dry brushing is a way of stimulating lymphatic flow. The lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins, but you need to activate it in order to facilitate this process. In order to promote lymphatic detoxification, you just have to move, but you can also use a technique called dry brushing. You can give yourself a lymphatic massage with your hands, or you can use a brush with firm bristles. The easiest way to start is to brush is to start with the feet and legs, always brushing up towards the heart. Once you get to your thighs, start at your palms and work inwards toward the heart. You can then do the abdomen and armpits, followed by the back and face. Click here to learn more about dry brushing.

Get To Sweating

The gyms are more crowded than ever in the beginning of the year. People are filled with ambition and ready to drop some pounds! You don’t need a gym membership to get your sweat on, though. Not only does exercise encourage you to sweat, but it also boosts your mood. Sweating is one of the body’s way of getting rid of excess toxins. If you feel puffy after a lot of heavy eating, your body is most likely retaining water, especially if that food was heavy on the salt and sugar. A good sweat session can help you de-puff and get you out of your funk. After an aerobic workout, consider getting in the sauna to sweat even more.

Generally speaking, the common cold tends to resolve itself a week after you first experience symptoms. It is possible for cough, congestion, or runny nose to linger, but this is completely normal. If you have more energy and symptoms are less intense, your cold may be improving. According to experts, a cold is a minor viral infection that includes the following symptoms:

 • Cough
 • Sneezing
 • Sore throat
 • Fatigue
 • Congestion
 • Runny nose
 • Aches

These symptoms tend to last about three to five days, depending on the person’s immune system and severity of infection. In the final days of your cold, most symptoms should have faded and your energy should be somewhat back to normal. A lingering cough or mild congestion is perfectly normal, but these symptoms don’t indicate that you are contagious. Below, we’ll indicate cold symptoms that may indicate that your cold is nearing an end.

What Symptoms Indicate That A Cold Is Almost Over?

Colds tend to last about a week or so and most people find that symptoms ease within seven to 10 days from the onset of the cold. After about a week or so, you should notice that your energy levels increase. You may also find that it is easier to complete daily tasks and work throughout the day without experiencing fatigue. Just because you have more energy and feel better, your runny nose or congestion may last for an additional week. In fact, health experts note that you can experience nasal discharge for up to 14 days. That is the immune system’s response to fighting the cold.

The Common Stages Of A Cold

Health experts break colds down into stages. Some people experience certain mild symptoms, while others experience more severe symptoms. This ultimately comes down to the person’s immune system and the virus they contracted. Most experts agree that it is common to feel the worst in stage 2, as opposed to stages 1 or 3. More about the stages of a cold below:

 • Stage 1: Lasting one to two days, stage 1 symptoms tend to be mild. Most people report a sore throat, but fatigue, slight congestion, and mild runny nose are also common.
 • Stage 2: Symptoms will normally increase by this stage (days three to five of your cold). You will typically feel the sickest during these days and can experience congestion, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, body aches, cough, and fatigue.
 • Stage 3: By this stage (about a week after symptoms started), your symptoms are usually much more bearable. Remaining symptoms tend to include light congestion, cough, or runny nose.

Can You Do Anything To Ease Symptoms?

One of the best things that you can do when you have a cold is to rest, but there are other home remedies that may ease symptoms. Certain things may or may not work for you, but the following general recommendations may help relieve cold symptoms:

The symptoms of a cold will start to fade around day seven, and you should start to feel much better. Continue to care for yourself even as symptoms fade because you don’t want to plague your body with anything else. Should symptoms persist or even worsen after a week, you may choose to consult a doctor to discuss your situation.

How many times have you found yourself laying in bed unable to fall asleep? Even if you’re tired, it’s as though your engine doesn’t want to shut off. You toss and turn your way through a night of minimal or poor sleep and wake up poorly rested. That leaves you searching the web for sleep solutions. While there is no one-size-fits all recommendation for better sleep, there are different strategies that can help you get the rest you need.

People from around the world have developed unique sleep hacks that help them get a good night’s sleep. Some strategies in this article are backed by science, while others stem from anecdotal reports. If you want to have an easier time falling asleep and uninterrupted nights of sleep, read on to learn about sleep tips from South America, Finland, and beyond.

Jujube Fruit

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),the jujube fruit is frequently used to help calm the mind and emotions. TCM practitioners use this fruit to encourage more restful sleep, in addition to a relaxed mood. Studies show that jujube fruit contains saponins and flavonoids, two chemical compounds that suppress feelings of stress while simultaneously promoting relaxation. Flavonoids and saponins work to lengthen sleep time, and studies show that flavonoids, in particular, boost the time spent in slow wave sleep (SWS). This state of sleep is the most restorative part of sleep, and it’s associated with better memory and learning.

Hot Foot Soak

Allowing your feet to soak in hot water before bedtime is a popular relaxation technique in TCM. Not only does it help you wind down and soothe tired feet, but it also helps promote more restful sleep. Get a simple plastic bin or use a bathtub. Fill with enough hot water to go up to your ankles. You can add Epsom salt, fruit peels, flower petals, or essential oils to the water if you want. The warmth from the water helps to reduce the amount of vital energy in the mind, according to TCM. It is thought that the warmth draws the qi, energy, away from your head, signaling the brain that it’s time to relax and prepare for sleep.

Sauna Steam

This is a traditional Nordic tradition from Finland, and it involves enjoying a sauna in the evening. Sauna therapy is a regular practice for many people, especially for muscle relaxation and detoxing. The elevation in body temperature actually makes you sleepy, which is beneficial for a good night’s sleep. According to a 2018 review, saunas offer support for people with congestive heart failure, depression or anxiety, rheumatoid arthritis, and COPD. A 2019 survey found that 83.5% of participants reported sleep benefits for one to two nights after sauna therapy. Just make sure to drink plenty of water post schwitz because a sauna is dehydrating.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is widely used for its calming properties. The chamomile flower contains apigenin, a chemical compound that binds to receptors in the brain, whereby it triggers sleepiness and relaxation. According to health experts, that ability makes it an excellent choice for people who suffer from insomnia or other sleep disorders. A 2017 study found that chamomile extract had sedative properties in hospitalized older adults. The extract was able to increase sleep quality and quantity.

The Hammock Habit

Have you ever enjoyed a sway in the hammock while on vacation? There’s something very soothing about it and the gentle swaying can lull you to sleep. For the natives of South and Central America, swaying in a hammock is a common bedtime routine. A 2011 study found that the rocking motion of hammocks may promote deeper sleep in adults. More modern studies on hammocks and sleep are related to infants, as the rocking motion helps them sleep more soundly. Research noted that a nap in a swaying bed shortens the time it takes to fall asleep. It also lengthens the second stage of sleep, the one before deep sleep.

Shikibuton Tradition

A lot of life hacks have come out of Japan, with shikibuton being an important hack for better sleep. The shikibuton is a Japanese futon mattress that is used on the floor. Made from eco-friendly and natural materials like cotton and wool, it has demonstrated an ability to reduce back pain by supporting the spine. There are many shikibuton mattresses available, but make sure to opt for the ones that consist of natural materials.

Mani-pedis, massages, and facials are all great for your soul, especially when you see the right people. While home spa treatments are great for your health, it is very difficult to recreate a steam room at your home. Sure, there are DIY shower melts that you can drop in the shower, and you can create a facial steam tent with essential oils in a bowl of hot water. While these strategies are beneficial, they just aren’t the same as sitting in an enclosed, steamy space.

Steam Room vs. Sauna

Steam rooms differ from saunas in that they are heated with steam and not as hot. The big difference between steam rooms and saunas is the type of heat that they provide. A sauna uses dry heat, whereas steam rooms heat from a generator filled with boiling water. A sauna may promote relaxation and detoxification, but a steam room does that and more. Steam rooms mimic humid environments, maintaining 95% to 100% humidity. The temperature tends to rest somewhere around 110º F, which is only a few degrees hotter than your average hot tub. In contrast, saunas are very desert-like and range from 160-200º F, depending on which sauna you enter.

The practice of sitting in heat, or heat bathing, is an ancient practice across many cultures. From Russian banyas to Native American sweat lodges, heat therapy provides numerous health benefits. Within recent years, medical evidence supports these historical claims, and we’ll cover some of the most popular benefits below.

Helps Promote Decongestion

When you are congested, do you ever notice how much better you breathe after taking a hot shower? Take that feeling, amplify it by 10, and you understand that a steam room can help you breathe, especially if the steam is infused with eucalyptus essential oil. Inhaling moisture can help loosen nasal congestion, which clears up your breathing. Steam rooms may also break up congestion in the lungs, helping you breathe better and reduce cold symptoms. Just remember not to stay in the steam room for too long, as that can cause dehydration, which can increase congestion.

May Reduce Inflammation

Researchers agree that thermal therapy can help reduce systemic inflammation, which greatly benefits your overall health. Chronic inflammatory diseases are the most significant cause of death in the world, so reducing inflammation can help reduce that statistic. Roughly three out of every five people die from chronic inflammatory conditions worldwide. Inflammation can cause stroke, cancer, obesity, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and heart disorders. Frequently entering a steam room may help reduce the amount of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the body. CRP is one of the leading blood markers of systemic inflammation.

Promotes Cardiovascular Health

Older research identified that being in a steam room can cause certain people’s bodies to release hormones that alter heart rate. Aldosterone is one of those hormones and it regulates blood pressure. When you sit in a steam room, aldosterone is released and it may help lower your blood pressure, which is one of the reasons that you feel tranquil and relaxed. A newer study from 2021 found that steam rooms may improve heart function by reducing blood pressure. The study observed reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in healthy test subjects that spent 10-15 minutes in a steam room once a week for 12 weeks.

Reduces Stress

When you want to wind down and escape the world, a common relaxation method is to soak in a steamy bath. One theory as to why steam rooms promote relaxation is that they help the body produce endorphins, which are feel-good hormones. Another theory is that time in the steam room can reduce levels of cortisol, the hormone the body produces in response to stress. When cortisol levels decrease, you feel more tranquil and rejuvenated. Future research is necessary to examine the effects of both short- and long-term steam room use and bodily performance and response.

Helps Eliminate Blackheads

If you have ever received a facial, then you know how the aesthetician opens up your pores with a steamer, or a hot washcloth. The warm humidity opens up your pores, softening the oil and dirt inside for easy removal. Your sweat flows freely in a steam room, so your pores release bacteria, dirt, and oil in the process. You may not be completely free of blackheads when you leave the steam room, but dermatologists agree that a steam session can aid with the removal of blackheads. If you have very oily skin, though, you may want to pass on a steam room, as the humidity may make your skin even more oil-prone.

The post Can Infrared Saunas Fight Cancer? appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

The use of saunas or sweat huts to promote toxin elimination is not a new therapy. For centuries, various cultures have used concentrated heat to maintain optimal physical health. In fact, researches suggest that saunas are one of the most beneficial tools to assist with the elimination of heavy metals and toxins. They also help to increase oxygenation and improve immune function, which is why many health experts support the use of saunas to fight cancer.

Over 2,000 years ago, Parmenides, a famous Greek physician, said “Give me the power to create fever, and I will cure any disease.” This has been observed in cancer treatment centers around the world. Cancer patients who develop fevers occasionally enter remission. The idea behind this is that inducing a fever encourages an immune response that causes the body to fight existing cancer cells. This is why cancer treatment centers incorporate infrared sauna therapy into treatment plans. Exposing the body to heat is a safe and effective method that is both controllable and tolerable for the patient.

What Is An Infrared Sauna?

Dr. JH Kellogg incorporated infrared technology into his “electric light bath” over 100 years ago at the 1893 World’s Fair. In the 1980s, infrared saunas became popular in the United States, but experts have refined this technology since then. Unlike a traditional sauna, an infrared sauna does not heat the air around you. Using infrared lamps that use electromagnetic radiation, infrared lights directly warm the body. The light can penetrate human tissue while operating at a lower temperature than a traditional sauna.

What Is The Benefit Of Heating The Body?

By using heat and light, infrared saunas help to optimize the body’s ability to relax and promote detoxification. Sweating encourages the elimination of toxins, but what’s more interesting is that infrared saunas encourage whole-body hyperthermia. Hyperthermia is a popular method that disables weaker, heat-sensitive cancers. Infrared saunas can heat the body a couple degrees, inducing a fever in a gentle way. Health experts typically apply hyperthermia locally, focusing a laser or heat source directly at the cancerous area. However, raising the body’s temperature by a mere two degrees can enhance immune reactions and put pressure on cancer cells.

How Do Infrared Saunas Fight Cancer?

Stress Reduction

Health experts say that constant stress causes the adrenal glands to produce excess cortisol. When the sympathetic branch of the nervous system is in high gear, it can inhibit digestion, immune response, and natural eliminative organ function. Essentially, the body is in a fight or flight state, and remaining in this state increases the risk of cancer development. Studies show that infrared saunas inhibit the sympathetic nervous system, which is a necessary step towards cancer recovery. Additionally, infrared saunas activate parasympathetic nervous activity, which helps promote alkalinity, pain mitigation, depression, and immune function. One of the main benefits, then, is creating an alkaline environment so that cancer cannot thrive.

Direct Cancer Cell Death

The first thing to know about cancer cells is that they are weaker than healthy cells. Hyperthermia is an effective method for fighting cancer cells because they are less tolerant of heat. Higher temperatures often kill cancer cells without damaging healthy cells. Studies show that tumors have a reduced ability to adapt blood circulation to the effects of higher temperatures. This means they are more susceptible to heat damage. In fact, a clinical study in 2009 monitored infrared’s effects on human cancer cells in vitro and on cancer cells in mice. Far infrared therapy was able to reduce tumor volumes by 86% within a month.

Organ Decongestion

Detoxification pathways are inhibited if the liver, kidneys, and other internal organs are congested. This means that the body holds on to more chemical toxins, which can be a problem for cancer patients. Infrared sauna therapy assists with detoxification by improving circulation throughout the body. Besides the ability to increase blood flow to the body’s extremities, infrared sauna therapy also helps to decongest internal organs. By eliminating congestion, you increase the function of these organs, thereby improving their ability to get rid of toxins. The infrared heat also promotes the release of toxins from fat layers beneath the skin. According to several studies, infrared saunas produce sweat that consist of 80-85% water and 15-20% fat soluble toxins. The toxins include ammonia, sodium, uric acid, heavy metals, and sulfuric acid.

Immune System Activation

More often than not, conventional cancer treatments suppress immune function. Infrared sauna therapy, on the other hand, actually enhances immune function. A German professor, Rolf Issels, theorized that hyperthermia produces heat shock proteins on the surface of cancer cells. This makes them more prone to an attack by the body’s immune system. Other health experts explain that heat from infrared light distinguishes cancer cells from healthy cells, allowing the immune system to attack the unhealthy cancer cells.

The infrared sauna seems to be the most effective and safest method for generating hyperthermia in the body. It’s a proven therapeutic method to optimize immune function and increase the chance of cancer cell death.

Completing a cleanse is no easy feat and each finisher deserves a medal, in our opinion. After 20 days of eating fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, it’s natural to look forward to foods that you couldn’t eat while cleansing. Rather than going off the rails and reaching for all of the processed, sugary, gluten-rich foods you can get your hands on, it is wise to continue eating some foods you ate during your cleanse.

Think of the time you spent cleansing as a resting period. Your body is essentially waking up from a deep, healthy slumber, so the first foods you eat should be easy on the digestive system. This means that plant-based foods should be your focus during the first couple days after your cleanse. You can try incorporating steamed or sautéed veggies, brown rice, quinoa, lentils, or other legumes to provide the body with warmth and more sustenance. A few other quick post-cleanse tips include:

Skipping Happy Hour

Alcohol is loaded with sugar and calories, so skip happy hour for a while. Your liver just had a break, so there’s no reason to put harmful substances, which the liver has to process, back in the body immediately. The liver is a powerful detoxifying organ, but you’ll feel the maximum benefits of the cleanse if you give your body a longer break from alcohol and other substances.

Get Moving

If you lost weight during your cleanse without exercising, that’s excellent! Since you will most likely consume heavier foods that are higher in calories after your cleanse, you need a way to efficiently burn them. This will help you keep the weight off. Another way to encourage you movement is to download fitness apps that you can use with your friends. Map My Fitness can help you stay motivated to achieve your goals, and it can keep people accountable if they are supposed to meet daily targets. If you and several friends have FitBits, you can engage in weekly step challenges. You can also download PumpUp or Nike Training club to engage with an online fitness community.

Don’t Overeat

When entering life after cleansing, this is probably the best advice that a person can receive. It’s easy to eat a giant bowl of salad without racking up a ton of calories, but a big plate of pasta with processed sauce can amount to more calories than two cleansing meals combined. Eat slowly, and eat smaller portions as you incorporate other foods back into your diet. Click here if you want to learn more about managing your portions.

Keep The Veggies Flowing

There’s no reason to eliminate vegetables from your diet once you finish cleansing. Most nutritionists advise people to consume a minimum of five servings of raw or lightly steamed vegetables per day. Not only do veggies help to keep things moving through the digestive tract, but they also offer diverse nutrients that the body needs to function optimally. If you want to take a break from raw vegetables and still have them retain nutrients, the best cooking method is lightly steaming. Once you steam them for a few minutes, you can eat them that way or puree them into a soup.

Sweat It Out

Sweating and exercising are not the same, even though people sweat when they exercise. While movement is essential after your cleanse, it can be beneficial to regularly visit a sauna or steam room to encourage a lot of sweating. The skin is a large detoxifying organ that is constantly exposed to toxins, microbes, and environmental pollutants. Utilize sweating as a way to naturally rid these toxins from the body and skin.

We hope that you find these tips helpful during your post-cleanse life. Always remember that you can cleanse whenever you feel like you want to clean out the body or get healthy. Never forget that cleansing is not just about losing weight.

Fitness enthusiasts rushed through the doors of the Los Angeles Convention Center at 10 a.m. on the dot on Sunday, January 26th, 2019. Determined to grab free swag, protein samples, and autographs from some of the leading names in fitness, people formed lines throughout the convention center. It was a mad house, but it was encouraging to see so many people excited about new methods of recovery, workout tools, supplements, and more.

There were hundreds of booths at the LA FitExpo, and we navigated the entirety of the complex maze. We spun some wheels to win free blender bottles, workout towels, and stickers, and we even sampled plant-based bars, electrolyte powders, monk fruit sweeteners, and breadcrumbs made from pea protein. Oh, and we can’t even get into the amount of keto-approved snacks and supplements that we saw. It’s the keto revolution!

Since our last coverage of the 2019 LA FitExpo, we know that one thing is for certain: CBD IS HERE TO STAY! We discussed the many CBD products in our last report of the LA FitExpo, and it is amazing to see what is permissible to sell now that laws changed about the distribution of CBD products. Aside from the CBD invasion, many booths focused on new recovery products, plant-based nutrition, and hydration. You can see what products we loved below.

Improve Circulation With Cupping

Before Olympian Michael Phelps generated gossip about his circular dark spots all over his body, cupping was a practice that many cultures used for muscle relaxation and detoxification. Within the past 20 years or so, cupping has become an integral recovery technique of many athletes and non-athletes alike. Whether the person is dealing with stress, digestive discomfort, poor circulation, or sore muscles, cupping therapy is a fantastic alternative medicine to help. We purchased a silicone cupping set from Lure Essentials, and they are very easy to adhere to the body by yourself. Move stagnant lymphatic fluid, decrease scar tissue, and loosen connective tissue with these cups! Lure has made it so this traditional therapy can be done by yourself whenever you need it. No scheduling appointments or special services required. Simply press them onto your skin and let the suction begin.

Personal Infrared Sauna

If you have a little extra money that you want to invest in self-care and recovery, you can with your very own personal infrared sauna. While a traditional sauna ranges from 150-180 degrees F, an infrared usually heats between 120-140 degrees F. The infrared panels on the inside help to penetrate human tissue, focusing 80% of the heat on the body and 20% of the heat on the surrounding air. One of the primary benefits of infrared saunas is that they increase blood circulation and promote lymphatic drainage, assisting with the elimination of heavy metals and built-up toxins. Infrared saunas also contribute to faster recovery, relieving inflammation or soreness and supplying muscles with increased circulation to repair.

Alkaline Water Bottle

We aren’t talking about bottled alkaline water, here. We are talking about a reusable, BPA-free, double-walled vacuum insulated water bottle that can keep water cold for up to 24 hours. Purchasing cases of alkaline water can be expensive, so you can now buy one reusable bottle, which is better for the environment, that contains an alkaline diffuser. This diffuser has alkalizing minerals that can increase filtered water to have a pH level of 9 or higher. If you fill the 32-ounce bottle a couple times a day, you will need to replace the alkaline diffuser every three months. The name of this bottle is Dyln, and the bottle is $56.

Those were the most exciting products we found at the 2020 LA FitExpo, and we can’t wait to see what the vendors show up with next year.

In case you haven’t been on social media recently, people are obsessed with dieting and working out. Every single person has the desire to look good and feel healthy, but not everyone knows how to do that, or even maintain positive change. Losing weight is a common health goal and there are a few things you can do to accelerate the process.

One of the most important aspects of losing weight is having a well-functioning metabolism. Some people have great genetics and have a higher metabolic rate, which is the energy your body uses while resting. Others have a slower metabolic rate and can struggle to eliminate extra pounds. If you fall into the latter group, we have some amazing changes to help your body burn fat more efficiently.

Don’t Fear Fat

While you should avoid trans and saturated fats, you shouldn’t be afraid of healthy fats. It is ideal to limit your carbohydrate intake and focus on healthy fats, and in doing so, your metabolism learns to use fat stores for energy instead of relying on glucose. Many people explore the ketogenic diet to focus on moderate protein, healthy fats, and minimal carbohydrates. Click here to learn more about the keto diet.

Don’t Starve Yourself

A lot of people make this mistake when they are attempting to lose weight. By restricting your caloric intake, you actually slow your metabolism because the body thinks that it has to reserve carbs and fat until more food is available. You can try intermittent fasting, but do so wisely. A great method for beginner’s is to start with the 12/12 method, where you fast for 12 hours a day and eat small meals within the other 12-hour window. Alternatively, you could eat a healthy breakfast at sunrise and eat dinner at sunset much, which is what people do during Ramadan.

Drink Healthier Beverages

A lot of people ruin their chances of losing weight because they can’t make healthier beverage choices. Super sweet sodas and alcoholic beverages are loaded with calories, sugar, and offer zero nutritional value. Additionally, alcohol consumption is linked to overeating. In a small 12-week study, people who drank 16 ounces of water before meals lost an additional average of 4.4 pounds. Green tea is also a great beverage option because the antioxidants help to boost the metabolism and the fat burning process.

Drink More Tea

Speaking of drinking tea, increasing the amount of hot tea you drink induces a process known as thermogenesis. This natural bodily process produces heat, which increases the number of calories you burn.

Start Eating Probiotics

Many studies have linked lower microbiome diversity, the trillions of bacteria living in the body, to obesity or people who struggle with weight loss. Lower amounts of beneficial bacteria in the gut can lead to weight loss resistance, while a higher population of beneficial bacteria has been know to aid with weight loss and digestive function. Many fermented foods contain probiotics that positively affect the microbiome and help to establish healthier gut flora.

Sweat It Out

It’s important to spend time in infrared saunas instead of regular saunas, because the former penetrates the skin barrier to raise the body’s core temperature. Regular saunas have to heat the air in order to heat you. Research has indicated that regular use of infrared saunas over a three-month period contributes to noticeable weight loss. By sitting in these saunas, you also help to promote detoxification by release sweat, and you help to decrease inflammation.

Run Some Labs

While you can boost your metabolism and eat right, it’s integral to address the underlying cause. Even if you lose weight, it can come back. Understanding the root cause helps you get healthy, which helps you lose weight. Things like gut malfunctions, imbalanced hormones, or thyroid problems can inhibit your weight loss. Make sure to test these things to come up with a plan. You have to address your insides in order to look good on the outside.

The human body can do some pretty amazing things. Tissues can be repaired, wounds can heal, and the body can keep you healthy by processing toxins through its detoxification systems. The only problem is that our bodies were not designed to handle the world of chemicals, viruses, and bacteria in which we now live. So how can we help our bodies?

Aside from participating in a cleanse to purge the body of toxins, giving yourself a lymphatic massage is beneficial to the body’s detoxification process. How do you know if you need a lymphatic massage?

Digestive problems, headaches, body aches, skin problems, or even asthma are all indications that toxins are present in the body. If the toxins are not eliminated from the body, serious health ailments like cancer, obesity, autoimmune disorders, and more can occur.

Staying healthy in the world we live in means that you have to take action. Since the lymphatic system is responsible for filtering toxins and waste from cells, tissues, and organs in the body, accumulating more and more toxins can slow this process down. When the lymphatic system gets clogged, it becomes difficult for the body to stay healthy.

There are more than 90 lymphatic points all over the body. A tender or congested lymphatic point is easy to find because it is often sore when you massage it. If you have a lot of sore lymphatic points, massaging them daily can be beneficial for a healthy system.

How To Do The Massage

Use two fingers to press into the lymphatic point. Massage each point for about 5-10 seconds. If it is a sore point, massage it for about 20 seconds. It is important that you use firm pressure for this to be effective. Repeat until you’ve massaged a lot of these lymphatic points. A great way to hit a lot of points is by foam rolling the outside of your thighs.

One thing to remember is that you should not bruise an injury by massaging a point to roughly. A lot of sore or tender points may indicate that you have a lot of toxins in your body. To help release more toxins from the lymphatic system, you can sit in a sauna a few times a week, stretch or do yoga everyday, or even do breathing exercises. These methods can strengthen your lymphatic system and keep your body healthy.
