]]>Pizza is delicious, but it is loaded with fats, simple carbohydrates, dairy, and unhealthy fats. Some people argue that that is why pizza is so delicious. Ultimately, after devouring several cheesy, oily slices, you feel bloated and regret eating as much as you ate. Well, that’s all going to change with this raw vegan pizza recipe.
This pizza requires more effort than calling your local pizza place. You have to dehydrate the crust, which is the longest part of the entire process. It takes about 3-5 hours to dehydrate the crust, but the good news is that you can prepare all of the other items for the pizza during this time. We hope you like this recipe as much as we do! It’s stolen a pizz-of-our-hearts.
Note: There is pineapple pictured in the recipe, but we understand that not everybody likes pineapple on their pizza. This is why it is an optional ingredient.

]]>It’s time for a new vegetable-based pizza crust! You can even pick it up with your hands just like a real piece of pizza. The beautiful sweet earthiness of the beets pairs with the creaminess of the pesto sauce. The nutty and intense herbaceous pesto will be enhanced by the toppings. The toppings are merely suggestions, so feel free to top the pizza with cleanse-approved options that you enjoy. No olives!
Note: In the picture, there is torn chard leaves and a whiter sauce on the pizza, but the sauce is most definitely green and the toppings are merely suggestions, even though we encourage using the listed ingredients.

]]>Pie is definitely worthy of its own day! It has been an unofficial holiday since the 1970s, when pie was abundantly served in diners across America. This glorious culinary creation is versatile and comes in all flavors, shapes, and sizes. In fact, pies have been coming in different forms since the Egyptian Neolithic period in 9,500 B.C.
Pie Fact #1: 20% of Americans have confessed to wolfing down a whole pie alone, without any help from others.
Americans most commonly eat dessert pies. The top pie flavors include pumpkin, blueberry, cherry, apple crumb, lemon meringue, apple, key lime, and chocolate crème. The only non-dessert pie that receives a lot of attention in the United States is chicken pot pie. In the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia, however, minced pies or shepherd’s pies are very common and regularly consumed entrées.
Pie Fact #2: 186 million pies are sold in grocery stores and supermarkets in America each year.
If you are unsure of how to celebrate National Pie Day, don’t worry because we have your back, and some recipes! We strayed from the beaten path with these creations, but we hope you like them. If you make them, let us know what you think!

]]>National Pi Day is not to be confused with National Pie Day, even though they are pronounced the same. The two can be easily mistaken because various pie or pizza places present deals for food on each of these days. While both of these days may seem like excuses to eat pie or pizza, National Pi Day actually has mathematical significance.
Dig deep into your archives of middle school geometry and remember the mathematical constant pi, which is is 3.14159265359 or commonly shortened to 3.14. This is why National Pi Day takes place in the third month of the year, on the fourteenth day of that month (March 14th).
Pi Fact: Albert Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, was born on March 14th in 1879. It’s as though he was destined to accomplish what he did!
Larry Shaw is credited with hosting the first Pi Day in 1988 at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, California. He worked there as a physicist and, according to the event history, people marched around the building’s circular spaces, followed by chowing down on pies! Speaking of chowing down on pies, try our pie-themed recipes below and let us know how you like them. We thought outside the box this year and we think you’ll appreciate the creativity.
