If ever there was a recipe that was focused on green ingredients, it’s this one. All but two of the ingredients are green, and the ones that are not exhibit some impressive health benefits. Before we get into the ingredients, let us first cover what wellness shots are. Wellness shots are essentially concentrated juices made from nutritious ingredients. You may have seen turmeric ginger immunity shots in health food grocery stores. You know…those little tiny bottles with orange-yellow liquid inside them? Think of these wellness shots as their green counterparts.

Why should you make your own wellness shots? As with any homemade item, you have full control of the ingredients. For these wellness shots, you can always switch up the ingredients based on the nutrients you want in them. Perhaps you would enjoy beets, carrots, apples, and ginger, or oranges, lemon, turmeric, and persimmons. The possibilities are endless, and you can use the natural sugars in the fruits you use as sweeteners. There is no need for added sugars, preservatives, or anything else that will help maintain shelf life.

The ingredients in these green wellness shots were selected based on their nutritional profiles. These ingredients contain a mix of essential vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, digestive enzymes, water, and an array of antioxidant compounds. Both celery and cucumber are rich in water, which work to aid your hydration efforts. Finally, almost every single ingredient in these wellness shots boosts the immune system in one way or another. Drink one of these to start your day!

A healthy immune system is necessary throughout the year, but it matters most when something is going around. Be it rising COVID-19 cases in your area or a common cold around your child’s class, viruses and bacteria come at you from all angles. Keep your body’s defense strong by feeding it ingredients that optimize immune function.

A great way to keep the immune system in tip top shape is by consuming foods that contain vitamin C and anti-inflammatory properties. All of the ingredients in these pineapple ginger wellness shots help to enhance immune function. Lemons and pineapples both exhibit lots of vitamin C, and they also aid digestive function. Bromelain, a digestive enzyme in pineapple, works to break down protein and may help relieve inflammation in joints. Pineapple and lemon also contain powerful antioxidants that help combat free radicals and oxidative stress in the body. Additionally, drinking the juice of these refreshing fruits may help relieve sore throats when you’re sick.

While pineapple and lemon are two standout ingredients, you can’t have ginger shots without the ginger. This healing ingredient has a history of use in herbal remedies for thousands of years. Ginger works to relieve nausea, inflammation, and soothes a sore throat. Turmeric may be the king anti-inflammatory ingredient within this recipe. It helps to support healthy bones, joints, mobility, and even promotes a healthy heart! We could go on and on about these ingredients, but let’s make the recipe instead!

Who has been to a juicery, smoothie shop, or grocery store to purchase an immunity or wellness shot? Sure, it’s a magical combination of powerful ingredients, but it can be quite pricey. Buying these shots regularly may make a hefty dent in your bank account as well. Why spend $4-$5 per shot when you can easily make a lot of them at home for a fraction of the cost?

Both lemon and ginger work to improve immune function, helping it combat viruses, bacteria, and other foreign invaders. These two ingredients may also enhance energy levels and boost metabolism. Ginger is rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and helps to improve brain, heart, and immune function. Many people also brew ginger root into a tea to soothe digestive discomfort or relieve sore throat.

Lemons also contribute to healthy immune function because of their high vitamin C content. Additionally, they promote detoxification and pH balance. The cayenne is the unsung hero of these shots, though, as it zaps these shots with flavor. Cayenne pepper helps reduce inflammation and may provide relief to upset stomach, coughs, or colds. Lastly, cayenne promotes healthy circulation in the body, benefiting anyone with circulatory issues. So if you need a shot of wellness, these shots are you one stop shop!

It seems that all of the recent health-related news is focused on immune health, or how to keep the immune system strong. You should always aim to strengthen the immune system, but you shouldn’t neglect the rest of the body. Your overall wellness is of the utmost importance and the health shots in this article use fresh ingredients that offer a wide range of nutrients.

Synthetic vs Natural Nutrients: Does It Matter?

Some people swear by the vitamins they take and can’t imagine life without them. The average American doesn’t get enough nutrients from diet alone, and this is primarily due to the Standard American Diet. Roughly 50% of the American population takes synthetic nutrients like multivitamins. The debate is whether or not these synthetic vitamins offer the same benefits as natural nutrients. Some argue that synthetic nutrients can be dangerous, depending on the ingredients and processing.

Synthetic Nutrients

Typically made artificially in an industrial process, synthetic nutrients exist in capsule, tablet, liquid, or powder form. They are made to mimic how natural nutrients act in our bodies.

Natural Nutrients

These are obtained via diet from whole food sources. It is optimal to get your nutrients from whole foods because they are free of chemicals. Note that certain companies, like Dherbs Inc., use natural nutrients to make supplements by only using natural plants, herbs, or plant extracts.

We must not forget that plant-based foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, contain the freshest, chemical-free forms of nutrients. Additionally, different food combinations can assist with nutrient absorption and help increase the bioavailability of other nutrients. For example, the body absorbs turmeric more easily when consumed with black pepper.

Time For Shots

While these may not be the shots that you look forward to, they are extremely beneficial for the body. All five of these vibrantly colored and intensely flavored shots can assist with maintaining overall wellness. Let us know which one you like most in the comments below.

Within the past decade, cleansing diets, “miracle” beverages, salt water flushes, and detox drinks have increased in popularity. People hear stories about strange concoctions and get excited about the thought of losing weight, improving immune function, or cleansing the colon. One of most common ingredients in these super health tonics is raw apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar is the most popular vinegar in the natural health and wellness community. Plenty of anecdotal reports claim that it helps to reduce cholesterol, manage blood sugar levels, improve digestion, and strengthen the immune system. What about the science-based facts? Let’s explore a few benefits that are supported by scientific research.

Improves Heart Health

Since heart disease is one of the world’s leading causes of death, it is wise to do all you can do to maintain a healthy heart. According to several studies, apple cider vinegar can help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, along with other factors that contribute to heart disease. Other studies observed that apple cider vinegar works to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity, both of which combat diabetes, another factor that increases one’s risk of heart disease.

Kills Harmful Bacteria

The use of vinegar to kill pathogens, including bacteria, dates back over 2,000 years ago to the time of Hippocrates, who used vinegar to clean wounds. Many people use apple cider vinegar to help disinfect nail fungus, get rid of ear infections, and assist with detoxing the scalp.

Lowers Blood Sugar Levels

People with type 2 diabetes have high blood sugar levels, and insulin resistance or an inability to produce insulin is to blame for this. The most effective way to manage blood sugar levels is to eat a balanced diet, avoiding refined carbs and sugars as much as possible. As people with type 2 diabetes slowly eliminate these food items from their diet, apple cider vinegar may help to naturally lower blood sugar levels. Various studies have shown that apple cider vinegar can reduce blood sugar by 34% after eating 50 grams of white bread. It also helps improve insulin sensitivity during a high-carb meal by 19-34%, and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in water before bed can reduce fasting blood sugar the next morning by 4%.

These apple cider vinegar power shots will supply your body with plethora of nutrients that help boost metabolism, improve gut health, and promote natural detoxification. You must dilute each shot in six or eight ounces of water when you consume them. No exceptions!

The cold weather is upon us, stress levels are running high with thoughts of strong family dynamics colliding, and immune systems are fighting off viruses with all the energy they have left. While prepping for holiday gatherings, many people forget to care for the body, and can often wind up sick as a result. Rather than waiting for a virus to take you down, keep your immune system functioning at peak efficiency by taking precautionary measures.

We have some amazing shots to help boost immune function, fight colds, boost circulation, increase cognitive function, and contribute to better overall health. How does one shot make you feel better? The ingredients have some powerful properties, which are detailed below.

Turmeric

According to research, the physical structure of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, can bind to cells and help prevent viruses from entering them. It can also help to offset the neurotoxic effects of fluoride. Turmeric’s ability to reduce inflammation and prevent the growth of certain cancer cells is also a great reason to consume it!

Lemon Juice

Rich in vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron, lemons are amazing for fighting free radicals in the body. Lemons assist the body with natural toxin elimination, while simultaneously improving alkaline levels to improve immune function.

Cayenne Pepper

If you are feeling congested, cayenne is one of the best foods to help clear up your nasal passages. Not only does it help to warm your insides, but it also contains antifungal, anti-flu, and anti-cold properties.

Ginger

Ginger contains anti-inflammatory gingerols and shaogals, which can help to quickly relieve a sore throat. The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger can also help to soothe digestive discomfort.

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 cups filtered water
  • juice of 4 medium lemons
  • 3-inch piece of ginger, peeled
  • 3 (2-inch) pieces of turmeric root, peeled
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 11 (2oz.) bottles
  • 1 funnel
  • 1 fine mesh strainer

Instructions:

  • Add the water and lemon juice to a blender.
  • Roughly chop the ginger and turmeric and add all of it, plus the cayenne, to the blender. Blend everything until you get a smooth consistency without chunks.
  • Place the fine mesh strainer over a 2-cup measuring cup and pour the mixture through. Press the pulp with the back of a spoon so you can get as much juice out of it as possible.
  • Set up your 2oz. bottles in a line and ready the funnel. Pour the mixture through the funnel to fill up the little bottles.
  • Screw the covers on tightly and store in the refrigerator. These will keep for up to one week. Shake well before consuming and enjoy!

The best way to prepare for all the germs that will be passed around during back to school season is to play some serious immune offense. Don’t wait for bacteria and viruses to take you down when you have the opportunity to stock up on fresh ingredients that boost immune function. Rather than resorting to cold medication or randomly picking things out of the medicine cabinet, use food to avoid becoming sick.

Eating a balanced diet is the best way to maintain overall bodily function, including the optimal health of the immune system. The goal should be to maintain immune health at all times, not just when you feel a cold coming on. Don’t rely on lemon water or ginger to protect the body from foreign invaders; rather, focus on eating as many different colored fruits and vegetables as possible. The notion of “eating or drinking the rainbow” increases the amount of phytochemicals and antioxidants that you can absorb. The more varied your antioxidant intake, the better your immune system can function.

Immunity shots have taken the health world by storm, with people taking swigs of lemony turmeric concoctions left and right. The idea behind immunity shots is to provide the body with concentrated, potent doses of vitamins and minerals. Ginger, garlic, turmeric, cayenne, and carrots are featured ingredients in immunity shots, but those ingredients are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more ingredients, which you can toss down the hatch, that don’t receive the attention they deserve. We are here to provide you with the best recipes for keeping colds or flus at bay.

What About The Peels?

Just like clothes in public, leave most of them on. A lot of concentrated nutrients exist in the peels of many fruits and vegetables, including ginger and citrus fruits. When it comes to beets, you can peel them, but many nutrients like fiber are in and near the peel. You can always partially remove the peels if you are fearful of taking the no-peel plunge. This may be a great introduction to leaving peels on because blending an entire lemon with the peel can result in a slightly bitter flavor.

Immunity Shots Without A Juicer

Juicers can be expensive and the cleanup can be quite annoying. Blending the ingredients for immunity shots is just as effective, and a much quicker and easier method. All you need is a blender and a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, through which you will strain the blended mixtures to obtain juice. The following recipes are low in sugar, vibrantly colored, and filled with immune-boosting nutrients.

Instructions For All The Recipes

  • Peel or partially peel all citrus fruits or beets and remove the cores from apples.
  • Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you need to add some filtered water for a little blending assistance then you can do that.
  • Pour the blended mixture through a cheesecloth or nut milk bag into a jar or cup. Make sure to squeeze all the liquid out.
  • Enjoy the shot as soon as it is made.

Ingredients For Immunity Shots

Lemony Beet Shot

  • 1 beet (tops included if possible), peeled
  • 1 apple, cored
  • 1 lemon, peeled or partially peeled

Cayenne Ginger Shot

  • 1 lemon, peeled or partially peeled
  • 4” piece of ginger, chopped
  • pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons filtered water

Carrot Turmeric Shot

  • 3 carrots, rinsed and chopped
  • 1 lemon, peeled or partially peeled
  • 1” piece of ginger, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder

Leafy Green Shot

  • 1 lime, quartered
  • 1 handful of leafy greens (kale or spinach)
  • 1 handful herbs (mint or parsley)
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 kiwi, peeled
