Halloween is fun for children and adults alike. Kids tend to overdo it on candy, while adults tend to overdo it on the sauce/booze/social lubricant/whatever you want to call it. If you are trying to stop the habits of old this year and want to focus on being a healthier Halloween host (not the person who passes apple slices or avocados out to kids), you can make the spooky snacks in this article.

We normally provide recipes with links, but this year we decided to make a few instructional recipe videos of snacks that are perfect for any Halloween party. Our favorite one to make was the Vegetable Skeleton Man! One major tip for that recipe is to plant out your skeleton on a large baking sheet or platter. A small plate will not accommodate the size and deliciousness of the skeleton. The smoothies were also fun, and they are very interactive for the children. This may even be the easiest way to get kids to enjoy some green monster smoothies! You can quadruple the batch if you plan on making a lot of smoothies. A pro tip is to get small cups so that you don’t have to make as much, especially if you are serving them at a party.

We know Halloween is about a week away, but let’s be honest…most of the events and parties are happening this weekend. Some people think that packing a lunch is just something that you do for your kids. Others pack their lunches every day to save money and they usually consist of leftovers or simple sandwiches. More recently, people have jumped on the meal prep bandwagon to follow diets or fulfill certain nutritional quotas. Whatever the reason for packing a lunch, we fully endorse it, especially on National Pack Your Lunch Day, which is annually observed on March 10th.

Packing your lunch is a great way to make healthier meal choices, provided your lunches aren’t comprised of meats, processed foods, sugars, and tons of simple carbohydrates. If you have a salad with a grilled chicken breast packed for lunch, for instance, you won’t be choosing the first restaurant (typically an unhealthy one) you see to eat at on your lunch break.

One of the best things you can do for your health is to stop eating out for lunch. Sometimes the stress of work, or even deciding where to eat lunch, can make you decide on unhealthy food options. This is why it is best to meal prep your lunches for the week. You can guarantee that your lunch will be healthy, and you’ll have one less thing to worry about.
