‘Tis the season for holiday treats and countless sweets. Unfortunately, that mentality is why people tend to gain weight this time of year. The sweets and treats have a little something to do with that weight gain as well. They are not nutritious and tend to contain a lot of empty calories, so you keep coming back for more because they are usually made of refined sugars and carbs. We still want you (and our cleansers!) to enjoy some holiday goodies, which is why we are giving you this recipe for chocolate gingerbread energy bites. Think of them like healthier cookies!

If you were looking for a cookie swap, these gingerbread energy bites are your bet bet. They contain raw almonds, Medjool dates, raw cacao, and a handful of spices that make them taste like holiday cookies. If the mixture gets a little dry, you can add a tablespoon of raw almond butter or water to. help it along. Additionally, you can soak the almonds and dates in water a little while before you blend the ingredients together in the food processor. Soaking will soften the nuts and dates, which eases the blending process.

Now, some people prefer chunky cookies, while others enjoy soft cookies that are easy to eat. The same applies to nut butters. Do you prefer chunky or smooth? Whichever you version you enjoy is the right one! You can blend the ingredients until you achieve a texture that you are happy with. Once you achieve your desired texture, wet your hands and roll the mixture into bite-size balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and then place them in the freezer to harden. We hope you love them! Let us know in the comments below!

Cranberries are not only reserved for cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving. You can impart the sweet-tart cranberry flavor into myriad recipes! From snacks and appetizers to entrees, desserts, and more, cranberries find their way into unique fall and winter favorites. Since they are only available for a short while, get your hands on them to make some of the recipes in this article.

Cranberries primarily consist of carbs and fiber, but they are also 90% water. They are some of the best sources of antioxidants, which work to fight free radicals. The most common health benefit associated with cranberries is the fact that they may help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs). A-type proanthocyanidins prevent the binding of E. coli in the bladder, a common first step in getting an infection. If you usually develop UTIs, you may want to incorporate fresh cranberries, or fresh cranberry juice, into your diet. This is an excellent proactive approach to living a healthier lifestyle.

The same A-type proanthocyanidins, which only exist in cranberries, that reduce the risk of UTIs also reduce bad bacteria in the gut. More research is necessary, but preliminary research shows that cranberries promote optimal digestive health. Lastly, and then we will provide you with the recipes, the certain antioxidant compounds in cranberries may exhibit anti-cancer properties. Needless to say, cranberries are superfoods that deserve a featured spot in your diet.

A lot of people love Nutella. in case you are unfamiliar with this highly addictive spread, it is a sweet paste made from hazelnuts, sugar, and cocoa. These cacao date hazelnut balls contain similar ingredients, minus the sugar and cocoa. These energy balls contain raw hazelnuts, raw cacao powder (different from cocoa), unsweetened raisins, and dates. The dates provide the sweetness, giving balance to the bitterness of raw cacao powder. The hazelnuts a nuttiness and help give these bites some texture and chew, while the raisins add an additional level of sweetness.

Regarding raisins, which are acceptable to enjoy during your cleanse, make sure that they are unsweetened and free of preservatives. Despite their size, raisins contain a lot of energy, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Because they can be calorically dense, enjoy them in moderation. For reference, a one-half cup serving of raisins contains about 217 calories and 47 grams of sugar. A 12-ounce can of soda has about 150 calories and 33 grams of sugar. That makes them a higher calorie and sugary treat, which is why people refer to them as nature’s candy.

Hazelnuts are naturally rich in healthy fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals. They also contain zinc, thiamin, fiber, magnesium, manganese, copper, and vitamin E. Furthermore, hazelnuts contain a surprising amount of antioxidant compounds, some of which have been known to benefit heart health, decrease blood cholesterol, and reduce inflammation. A eight-week study found that eating hazelnuts significantly reduced oxidative stressed compared to not eating hazelnuts, which caused no effects.

Disclaimer: This recipe is not Full Body Cleanse-approved. Sorry, folks, but sometimes we like to post recipes that work well as you transition into life after cleansing. These recipes are meant to help you, and you can also use them if you participate in our Maintenance Package or Going Vegan 20-day Challenge products. The name of the game is: simple ingredients. You do not have to overcomplicate things, and you definitely do not need to use harmful ingredients.

These vegan no bake cinnamon energy bites have a flavor that is reminiscent of a cinnamon roll, only these are much healthier. They make for a great on-the-go snack or breakfast treat. Just one or two will help fill you up and simultaneously satisfy your sweet tooth. You may already have the ingredients on hand! These energy bites contain the following:

  • Cinnamon: This warming spice helps to give the bites their signature spice flavor.
  • Rolled oats: The oats not only add a lot of fiber and protein, but they also give the bites an extra chewy texture. They also serve as a binder, which helps the bites stay together when you form them.
  • Medjool dates: Time for the sweetness! These dates work to provide natural sweetness and, similar to the oats, act as a binder to help everything stick together.
  • Almond butter: Almond butter provides a lovely richness and creaminess, along with more protein and healthy fats. Just make sure that you get the unsweetened and oil-free variety. In fact, try to get raw almond butter, as that is the best version.
  • Vanilla extract: A little vanilla extract goes a long way, and it also complements the cinnamon. If you can, purchase pure alcohol-free vanilla extract, as that is a better product.

A quick warning about these energy bites: you have to be careful not to scarf down every single one all at once! These mango cashew and ginger energy bites are some of the better ones we’ve put out on our website. They are tropical, slightly sweet, and have a subtle kick from the fresh ginger root. Roll these little balls of nutritious goodness in desiccated coconut for an extra textural and flavorful element. If you dislike coconut (we know you’re out there), then you can skip the coconut.

Another thing to note about this recipe is that it calls for dried mango, not fresh mango. If the recipe contained fresh mango, the consistency would not be correct. Additionally, they would not last as long in the fridge. When purchasing dried mango, make sure that you purchase a bag that does not contain added sugars or preservatives like sulfur dioxide. Those ingredients render the dried fruit unhealthy and you cannot consume them while cleansing. Natural is best!

Energy bites are great because they double as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack, helping to satiate you between meals. They also make for great pre- or post-workout snacks that help provide your muscles with nutrients they need to perform or recover. The last thing we’ll say is that, although these energy bites are not a tropical ray of sunshine, they may help brighten your day. Or at least they’ll make your taste buds happy, and that’s the real win!

If you are familiar with our recipe section, you know that we love energy bites. These simple raw vegan treats are great for cleansers because they provide healthy fats, protein, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals. Enjoy one or two of these as an afternoon snack and you won’t even think about grabbing a coffee or energy drinks. Even though these bites contain dates, the slow release of sugar into your system helps you avoid energy spikes or crashes.

Don’t mind the green color; that’s just the color of pumpkin seeds. These are spirulina- and wheatgrass-free! If you are daring and want a little taste of the ocean or greens, go ahead and add those ingredients. We cannot promise that they will taste great, though. We can promise that snacking on these energy bites will provide you with magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, and potassium, all of which are in pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are also rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. These antioxidant compounds were associated with an ability to help reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women, according to one study.

Once you blend the pumpkin seeds and dates, form the mixture into bite-size balls with your hands. Place them on a plate or baking tray lined with parchment paper and place them in the freezer. After about 30 minutes, remove them from the freezer and then roll the energy bites in pulsed pumpkin seeds. That is an optional step and you’ll notice that they look like that in the recipe photo.

If you make your own almond milk, you are always left with almond pulp. After pouring the blended mixture through a cheesecloth, sieve, or nut milk bag, you press as much liquid out as possible. You normally discard this pulp because you don’t know what to do with it. If you compost, then you add the pulp to your compost bin. What you may not realize is that you can use this almond pulp in various cooking and non-cooking applications, for example, these maple orange sesame bites.

The great thing about almond pulp is that you can place it in an airtight container and freeze it until you need it. Don’t keep it in the fridge for a year. We suggest you use it within two months of putting it into the freezer. Almond pulp is similar to almond flour, in that it helps bind the rest of the ingredients in energy bites together. Plus, it often contains a little sweetness if you add dates, vanilla extract, or agave to your homemade almond milk. If you want to make your own almond milk, click here for a very simple raw vegan recipe.

Because the almonds are already blended into a pulp, your food processor will have a much easier job combining the ingredients. Once the mixture becomes clumpy, you can stop blending. Form the blended mixture into bite-size balls and then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the energy bites for 30 minutes, remove them, and then roll them in sesame seeds. Place them in the fridge for another hour or so and then remove to enjoy. These make for a filling snack or healthy dessert option!

Holiday cookie trays are incredibly addictive. Sprinkles and icing coat sugary creations that have a slightly crunchy exterior and soft and gooey interior. Is there anything better than a freshly baked cookie that is warm and soft on the inside? It’s perfectly acceptable to indulge your sweet tooth every now and again, but reaching for the cookie plate too many times may cause some blood sugar spikes. Instead, make healthier versions of classic holiday cookies, like these vegan snickerdoodle bites.

These snickerdoodle bites have all the nutritional benefits that a healthy snack should have. They offer plenty of healthy fats, plant-based proteins, complex carbohydrates, and a low-glycemic sweetener: maple syrup. You won’t find dairy products, artificial flavors, added sugars, or gluten in these tasty desserts. Just because they are healthy, that doesn’t mean they lack flavor or sweetness. In fact, after sinking your teeth into one of these for your first bite, you may convert to these forever!

If you want to live a little dangerously, go ahead and create a cinnamon/coconut sugar mixture to roll the snickerdoodle bites in after making them. In order to do this step, freeze the bites for 30 minutes after making them. Remove them from the freezer and then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place them back in the freezer for another 30 minutes and then remove from the freezer to enjoy. If you store them in an airtight container in the fridge, they will keep for two to three weeks. Store them the same way in the freezer for two months!

How do you transform a classic candy into a much healthier treat? First off, you clicked on this recipe, so you are on the right path. Energy balls are the best snacks because they pack healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and more into bite-sized balls. Think of them like little nuggets of deliciousness because they easily take on the flavors of any candy or cookie, only without all the processed sugar and fat.

All you need is a food processor, ingredients, and your energy balls are a few minutes of pulsing away from becoming a real life snack. The blending part is the easiest component to the recipe. When it comes time to shape them into bite-size balls, things can be clean or messy. You can use a tablespoon or cookie scooper to form little balls, or you can use your hands. If you really want to avoid a mess on your hands, you can wear disposable gloves, wet them with water, and form the energy balls. Or, you can simply wet your bare hands with water before forming the balls. That will help avoid sticking or clumping!

The only thing to be careful about with this turtle energy balls is how many you eat in one sitting. Because they contain raw almond butter, dates, raw pecans, and chia seeds, they are high in calories. Because they have contain healthy fats, fiber, and protein, you don’t need to eat a lot to get full. Enjoy one or two between meals and you will be golden!

Carrot cake in bite-size form? Yes, please! These nutritious energy bites are have all the signature spices and flavors that are signature to carrot cake. With these bites, you don’t have to worry about excess sugars, dairy products, or super fattening ingredients. Just be careful with how many of these delicious bites you eat in one sitting because they are calorically dense, due to the dates and nuts.

The ingredients that make up the base for these bites are medjool dates, carrots, and walnuts. The ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg are necessary for that quintessential carrot cake flavor. Desiccated coconut also adds body to the energy bites, but it also adds an extra nutty flavor. As you can see in the recipe photo, the energy bites were rolled in chopped desiccated coconut. This is an optional step, but it gives them a little extra pizzazz.

Once everything in the food processor blends into a dough-like consistency, it’s time to form the mixture into a bite-size balls. Ideally, you line a plate or baking sheet with parchment paper first to avoid sticking. Place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes before removing them to roll them in the desiccated coconut. Should you want to skip that step, simply leave the bites in the freezer for an hour before removing them to enjoy.
