Intravenous (IV) therapy is a popular health and wellness trend. Many celebrities promote IV therapy on social media and podcasts, and some claim that it helps them feel more alive and healthy. Although it may not be a cure-all for hangovers, it may help relieve symptoms related to dehydration.

IV therapy is not the standard medical protocol for hangover relief; rather it is somewhat of a boutique and elective treatment. During the treatment, the patient receives a high dose of vitamins directly into their bloodstream. This allows the body to rapidly absorb nutrients at higher doses. Some of the issues that patients claim IV therapy helps include:

 • Migraines
 • Fatigue
 • Withdrawal
 • Hangovers
 • Dehydration
 • Fibromyalgia
 • Headaches
 • Cold symptoms

The Myers’ cocktail is the most popular mixture of vitamins and minerals. The name comes from John Myers, who first administered this treatment in the 1970s. A Myers’ cocktail includes:

 • Magnesium
 • Calcium
 • Vitamin B6
 • Vitamin B12
 • B-complex vitamin
 • Vitamin C

How Does IV Hydration Work For Hangovers?

The theory behind administering an IV for hangovers is that it can reduce dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and harmful metabolite buildup. Basically, injecting fluids directly into the veins gives the body quick access to water and nutrients lost via urination or vomiting while drinking alcohol. By adding fluids, you can help dilute and flush out the harmful toxins left behind from alcohol breakdown. That helps support kidney and liver function.

What Is In An IV Drip For Hangover Relief?

Simple IV fluid drips for hangovers aim to replenish fluids and relieve dehydration. They contain sterile water and at least one electrolyte. The most common fluids for mild dehydration are traditional saline (water and 0.9% sodium chloride) and Ringer’s solution (a mixture of water, sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and lactate).

Most hangover IV infusions contain a 0.9% sodium chloride base, but you can customize the therapy with other additives. Those additives may not improve or cure your hangover, but they provide vital nutrients that the body can use. Sometimes, an anti-nausea medication may be added to the drip to help relieve gastrointestinal issues.

Are There Risks Of IV Therapy?

One of the risks of this type of therapy is that the nutrients bypass the body’s gatekeeping functions. That can overload your bloodstream with vitamins all at once, which does not allow the stomach to digest them slowly. Although it is rare, vitamin toxicity can occur as a result, but that depends on the amount of vitamins and minerals you receive via IV. A high dose of vitamin C, for example, may cause the body to produce oxalates, which increases the risk of developing kidney stones. For that reason, people with renal disease should be cautious about IV therapy.

Using vitamin therapy too frequently may cause nutritional imbalances. It’s possible for IV therapy to upset electrolyte levels. Overhydration (yes, this is a real thing) is another possible risk from frequent IV therapy. You may also experience nausea, confusion, or headaches as a result of overhydration.

Like most people, you probably use shampoo, conditioner, and styling products. If you go the extra mile, there’s a chance that you use a deep conditioner or apply a hair mask. Maybe, on occasion, you head to the salon for a special treatment or to clarify your hair. Have you ever thought about exfoliating your scalp, or even caring for it in the proper way? Most people do not consider scalp exfoliation, despite the fact that it contributes to a healthier scalp, and potentially, improved hair growth

The Benefits Of Scalp Exfoliation

By exfoliating the scalp, you can help reduce flaking and itching, remove build up, and benefit a dry or sore scalp. Minerals, products, and more in hard water can build up on your scalp the same way they build up on hair strands. If you want your hair to shine, you take the necessary steps to care for it, and that means exfoliating your scalp from time to time. Dermatologists note that the scalp needs to be healthy to ensure new hair growth. Buildup on the scalp can clog hair follicles and lead to thinning or hair loss. Additionally, the combination of environmental pollution, dirt, and oil accumulate on the scalp on a daily basis, so it is your job to remove all of that to keep the scalp as healthy as possible

How To Exfoliate The Scalp

You can easily exfoliate the scalp in a few simple ways. You can use a sugar scrub, add quinoa to your shampoo, or use a scalp brush. Whether you use your fingertips or a scalp brush, make sure to be gentle on your scalp to avoid irritation, especially if your scalp is sensitive. Ideally, use small, circular motions when exfoliating.

Use A Scalp Brush

When you exfoliate with a scalp brush, all you have to do is use it with your regular shampoo. You can use it every time you wash or less often, depending on your needs. If you really want to ensure that you are cleansing your scalp, consider using a scalp brush every time you shampoo. Some dermatologists note that using a scalp brush may help eliminate seborrheic dermatitis, which is a common scalp condition characterized by yellow, greasy flakes and redness on the scalp.

Physical Exfoliants

These act similarly to body scrubs, in that they have mildly abrasive particles that help to exfoliate the scalp. Ingredients like sugar, salt, or even quinoa act like mild sandpaper and work to remove debris from the scalp. Even though physical exfoliants have abrasive particles, you have to do the work to gently massage them into your scalp for a few minutes to exfoliate properly.

Deep Cleansing Salt And Olive Oil Scrub

The great thing about a scrub like this is that the salt works to exfoliate, while the olive oil helps replenish the scalp with moisture. No need for synthetic additives when you have this simple scrub! This scalp scrub works to both cleanse and rejuvenate, which paves the way for improved hair health and growth.

Brown Sugar And Oatmeal Scrub

This delightful combination helps to soothe an itchy scalp and eliminate dead skin cells. Not only is this scrub a gentle way to exfoliate, but it also helps maintain a clean and balanced scalp. The beauty of this scrub lies in the synergy that exists between the oats and brown sugar. Do these two ingredients make for a great breakfast? Yes, but when you use them on the scalp, the refined grains of brown sugar naturally scrub the scalp, gently lifting away dead skin cells that may cause itchiness or irritation. The oats work to both soothe and calm the scalp, which also alleviates discomfort or irritation.

Chemical Exfoliants

Although we always encourage people to experiment with natural remedies, you may require additional strength, depending on your scalp issues. Chemical exfoliants work differently, in that they are represented by liquid-based treatments or serums that contain hydroxy acids, such as salicylic acid, lactic acid, or glycolic acid. Basically, these acids dissolve dead skin cells and the residue from hair products on the scalp. These chemical products can also use enzymes or natural oils. The main thing to understand is that you do not need to scrub the scalp if you use chemical exfoliants, as they work on their own.

Coffee used to be simple, with milk and sugar being the only additions. Nowadays, you can look at an entire refrigerated section in a grocery store with hundreds of coffee creamer options to choose from. With dairy and non-dairy options aplenty, how do you know which ones to choose? Not to mention, which one is healthy, unhealthy, or somewhat healthy? We can assure you of one thing, and it is that the brown sugar cinnamon swirl option isn’t doing your body any favors.

Are any of these coffee creamers better or healthier options than cow’s milk? Even oat milk, which is a popular non-dairy milk alternative, recently received negative attention for spiking blood sugar. Most coffee creamers, though, have added sugars, emulsifiers, thickening agents, and preservatives to extend their shelf life. And yet, even with these ingredients, people choose them over regular cow’s milk and sugar.

How do you select the healthiest coffee creamer? It can be very difficult to do this, but you can click here to make three homemade vegan coffee creamers that are healthier than store bought varieties. They don’t have harmful ingredients and they taste incredible! Make them and see for yourself. Continue reading to learn why you should rethink your coffee creamer.

The Different Types Of Creamers

Generally, you can break down coffee creamers into the following four categories:

 • Basic dairy, including milk, cream, and half-and-half
 • Powders, such as nonperishable products, either plain or flavored
 • Basic non-dairy, including unsweetened oat, soy, almond, coconut, and macadamia nut milks
 • Liquids, such as coffee flavored products, either made from dairy or non-dairy ingredients

As a quick rule of thumb, the simpler the product, the healthier it is for you, according to registered dietitians. From the four categories above, basic dairy and basic non-dairy creamers are the best options. That said, you still have to read the nutritional labels to ensure that they aren’t full of emulsifiers, added sugars, and more. You want to look for minimal ingredients!

When Is Coffee Creamer Bad For You?

Everything in moderation, right? If you use your favorite coffee creamer sparingly, there is nothing to worry about. Most people add coffee to their creamer. You know those types, the people that like their coffee so sweet to the point where the coffee flavor is almost non-existent. Additionally, coffee milkshakes, frappuccinos, pumpkin spice lattes, and other similar drinks contain excess calories and sugar. Those drinks don’t contain coffee creamers, but they are just as unhealthy as pouring tablespoons of creamer into your coffee cup.

Just keep in mind that nutritional values vary between brands and flavors. Most coffee creamers have about 20 calories and at least one gram of sugar per serving, although many non-dairy creamers do not contain sugar. Here are some of the ingredients in coffee creamers to watch out for, especially if you over-pour.

Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil

Hydrogenated vegetable oil typically tops the ingredient lists of most powdered creamers. It is used as a preservative and thickening agent, extending the shelf life and giving the creamer its creamy texture. Although hydrogenated oil is not as bad as partially hydrogenated oil (trans fat), you still shouldn’t consume a lot of it. Hydrogenated oil is still saturated fat, which can increase the risk of heart disease. If that is the case, why does powdered coffee creamer state that it has zero grams of saturated fat? Well, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that a label can claim zero grams of saturated fat if a serving has less than 0.5 grams per serving. That is why you need to be aware of the serving size and monitor how many servings you add to your cup.

Carrageenan

This is a common food additive in many non-dairy creamers and non-dairy milks. Extracted from red seaweed, carrageenan may potentially impact gastrointestinal health, causing bowel inflammation. That said, a USDA report found that food-grade carrageenan doesn’t pose significant health risks at dietary levels. Carrageenan intake should be based on your individual health status, so just be aware of how it makes you feel if you consume a creamer that contains it.

Dipotassium Phosphate

As a common additive in many processed foods, dipotassium phosphate is generally considered safe by the FDA. Some health experts have their concerns about this additive, and other food additives in general. According to research, dipotassium phosphate is absorbed at a much higher rate than phosphorus. Because of this ingredient’s prevalence in processed foods, many Americans may be over-consuming phosphates. Researchers note that high levels of phosphates in the blood increase the risk of kidney problems, cardiovascular disease, and mortality. More rigorous studies are still necessary, but you may want to consider limiting your intake of phosphate additives.

Gellan And Other Gums

Gellan gum is a plant-based alternative to gelatin, so it is used as a stabilizer and thickening agent in non-dairy creamers. According to research, gellan and other gums are generally safe, even when consumed in larger amounts than your regular coffee creamer serving size. Just be mindful of your intake because too many gums may negatively affect digestive health.

Sodium tripolyphosphate (STTP) Warning: Your Seafood May Contain This Harmful Carcinogen https://www.dherbs.com/articles/sodium-tripolyphosphate-sttp-warning-your-seafood-may-contain-this-harmful-carcinogen/ Wed, 25 Aug 2021 09:22:00 +0000 https://www.dherbs.com/?p=129917

Have you noticed STTP, or sodium tripolyphosphate, in your frozen seafood? It’s a known carcinogen that may be damaging your health.

People enjoy eating fish as a healthier alternative to poultry or red meat products. Salmon fillets, shelled shrimp, mahi mahi steaks, or catfish strips are commonly sold in frozen form. The individually packed nature of these products, especially in regards to fillets, makes cooking and preparation very easy. The reality is that there may be more in fish, and other frozen meat products, than you realize. The worst part is that labeling of one specific, potentially toxic ingredient is not mandatory in the United States.

Sodium tripolyphosphate (STTP) is an inorganic compound that is a common additive to detergents, industrial products, and even food products. It’s a colorless salt that is a common food preservative, making seafood, meats, and poultry appear firm, glossy, and plump. Some seafood retailers may even soak wild-caught fish in a quick chemical bath with STTP to achieve the aforementioned effects.

What Is STTP?

STTP contains three phosphate units that are linked together. In brief, it undergoes a couple stages of manufacturing. STTP is a commercial emulsifier that results from the neutralization of phosphoric acid with sodium hydroxide. The mixture that you get from that process is monosodium phosphate and disodium phosphate. Manufacturers then heat that mixture to 500-550º C to achieve food-grade STTP.

Why Is STTP Added To Food?

Ultimately, STTP helps food absorb water, making the food more appealing to the consumer. This affects the original weight of the meat or seafood product you purchase, as food products absorb more water after soaking in an STTP bath. You can often tell if fish has been soaked in an STTP solution because a milky white liquid will ooze out as it cooks. You may also notice that the fish reduces in size during the cooking process.

The color, odor, and texture of seafood are three primary concerns to manufacturers, especially before freezing. Without an STTP bath, the fish may smell more and thaw with a darker appearance. For this reason, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has authorized the use of STTP. Otherwise, fish that was freshly cut may experience damage by ice crystals and protein denaturation during the freezing process.

STTP is also added to meat to improve the texture and color. It interacts with the inherent amino acids or hydroxyl groups in proteins, improving water retention of the protein product.

Is It Safe?

The USFDA considers STTP to be generally recognized as safe (GRAS). Because STTP is associated with this label, there is no suggested dosage. It’s also exempted from the typical Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) for food additive tolerance requirements. Additionally, food manufacturers don’t have to include it as an ingredient on labels. In large quantities, however, STTP is not safe. In fact, STTP is a suspected neurotoxin, carcinogen and a registered pesticide and air contaminant in the state of California. Because of CA Prop. 65, any food containing STTP must list it as an ingredient. According to several reports, STTP can cause skin and eye irritation, in addition to digestive and respiratory troubles. Keep all of this in mind when you purchase fish, meat, or poultry, especially in pre-packaged frozen varieties.

Can You Steer Clear Of STTP?

Yes, it is possible if you do your due diligence by asking questions. If you live outside of California, keep in mind that frozen varieties don’t have to list it as an ingredient. It’s better to buy fresh and develop a rapport with your local butcher. Ask if the meat or seafood has been packaged or treated with STTP. It’s quite common in scallops and shrimp, so keep this information in mind the next time you purchase meat or seafood.

The post Is Concentrate Juice As Healthy As You Think? appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

It’s no secret that bottled juices, juice cartons, and juice concentrates are regular grocery items for the average person. People purchase these types of juice varieties to satisfy nutritional requirements, for example, their recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin C. What people fail to realize is that many of these juices, especially juice concentrates, are not created equal. Some juice concentrates are healthy, while others have almost no nutritional value.

What Is Concentrate Juice?

The term “concentrate” simply means that water has been extracted from the fruit. Juice concentrates are typically frozen and give the instruction to add water on the label. Speaking of nutrition labels, how do you know which juice concentrate to purchase? Will it be as beneficial as you hope it will?

The reality is that many people overlook nutrition labels, specifically the ingredients section. Some bottled juices, for instance, contain less than two percent of actual fruit juice. The first two ingredients are most commonly water and sugar. When it comes to juice concentrates, it is paramount to avoid added sugars, which are most commonly present in mixed juice concentrates. The juice concentrate should say 100% juice, and the ingredient list should only have the fruits that were used to obtain the juice. Steer clear of juice concentrates that contain high fructose corn syrup and added sugars because drinking those is essentially the same as drinking soda.

Juice Concentrates Vs. Whole Fruits

The nutritional value of juice concentrates will vary if the concentrates contain added sugars, chemical additives, or artificial flavors/colors. If the fruit juice concentrates contain all of the aforementioned processed ingredients, you are essentially consuming pure sugar, which can increase your risk of obesity and diabetes. There are juice concentrates that are 100% fruit juice with no additives or preservatives. Those concentrates provide the same vitamins and minerals that can be found in freshly made juices using whole fruits and vegetables. The great thing about whole fruits and vegetables is that they never contain any added sugars or artificial flavors. You only have to concern yourself with the growing conditions and whether or not GMOs were used.

Potential Concerns

Most people drink fruit juice concentrates to obtain their daily dose of vitamin C. Drinking too many juice concentrates, however, can become problematic because they don’t provide a wide range of essential nutrients like whole fruits do. Juice concentrates are typically rich in vitamin C and lack the fiber and other vitamins, minerals, and health properties found in fresh fruits. Relying on fruit juice concentrate to satisfy your RDI of fruit is not a healthy decision. It is much healthier to consume whole fruits.

When making your decision to purchase fruit juice concentrate, make sure to avoid anything that is labeled “punch” or “beverage.” Both of those terms undoubtedly contain added sugars, additives, and preservatives. Added sugars and preservatives typically increase the number of calories, sugars, and total fat per serving. Always read the nutrition labels and ingredient lists, people! You never know what companies try to hide in products that you think are fresh and healthy.

]]>

Some people read the title of this article and probably said, “How and why would I ever give up dairy?” Giving up some of your favorite foods like ice cream or cheese may seem impossible; it may not even seem necessary. Would it seem necessary if you were told that giving up dairy could lead to clearer skin, fewer allergy symptoms, and an easier time losing weight? Those are some great reasons to go dairy-free!

Some people are intolerant to dairy and they don’t even know it. They just pass off the signs of being lactose intolerant as normal bodily things that happen. You may not realize it, but dairy is in more foods than you think. Studies show that it is addictive and because of how widely it is used in the food industry, you keep coming back for it without knowing it. Dairy can be in most packaged foods that may not seem like they contain milk, butter, or cheese. These foods can include:

 • Chewing gum
 • Cereals
 • Salad dressings
 • Crackers or chips
 • Meats (canned or processed meats, including deli meats)
 • Donuts
 • Nougat

And the following ingredients have milk in them, so look out if you see these names on the label:

 • Curd
 • Ghee
 • Hydrolsates
 • Rennet
 • Whey
 • Artificial butter or cheese flavor
 • Lactose, lactoglobulin, lactoferrin, lactulose
 • Lactalbumin, lactalbumin phosphate

Know The Enemy

Dairy products are sneaky and confusing because of how they can be in things that seemingly shouldn’t contain dairy. It takes time and lots of focus to know the enemy in its many forms. Become knowledgeable on the many names of dairy to successfully go dairy-free. Always look for “contains milk” on the product.

Go Cold Turkey And Try Not To Cheat

Don’t phase out the dairy products you consume. Eliminating dairy products one by one will only prolong the process, and it can even make you crave other unhealthy foods. Once you decide to go dairy-free, do it! While it is possible that you’ll find yourself snacking on a piece of cheese or taking a couple bites of ice cream during the process, don’t let this derail your efforts. Get back on track and try to keep these items out of your house, so you don’t go crawling back to them.

Embrace Nut & Seed Milks

We have to say this as a disclaimer: try to make your own nut or seed milks at all times. A lot of bottled nut or seed milks can have hidden sweeteners or processed ingredients that can irritate the intestines. If you can’t make your own or don’t have time, get the organic, unsweetened varieties without added flavors. If you are allergic to nuts and seeds, try coconut milk, but make sure you opt for the BPA-free cans with no additives. Avoid dairy replacements as well. You don’t need soy-based cheeses because they aren’t conducive to your overall health.

Eat More Whole Foods

There are too many food additives that contain dairy products, which is why it is optimal to choose whole foods. The less ingredients something has, the better. Foods with short ingredient lists can still contain dairy derivatives, though, so try to opt for fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes.

Keep Snacks On Hand

When you make a big dietary change, a common side effect is hunger. When you don’t have healthy snacks at the ready, your hunger can dictate your food choices, which can derail your diet. Try to keep an assortment of fruit or vegetable sticks, trail mix, homemade energy bars, or baked kale chips. Check out our snacks section for recipe ideas.

The post The Dangers of Egg Consumption appeared first on Dherbs - The Best All Natural Herbal Remedies & Products.

]]>

If you eat eggs, there are some things you should know. The word egg is a reproductive body of an animal whose embryo is covered with a shell of membrane.

So for those of us who have not realized it, eggs pertain to female ovum. The egg contains the biogenetic makeup of its parent organism.

Most humans eat eggs that are not from their own species. The eggs eaten by humans usually come from fowl or birds that have a very different biogenetic and molecular structural makeup.

Disadvantages

Eating eggs can promote a host of diseases and pathologies. Eggs can play a pivotal role in some female reproductive diseases including fibroid tumors, uterine cysts, breast cancer and tumors, and menstrual irregularities. Also, since these chicken eggs are sterilized or infertile, they are in fact impairing their own sexual fertility and potency.

Eating eggs can certainly change or alter your bio-chemical, genetic, and molecular makeup and make you susceptible to a host of diseases and pathologies.

The sterilization process of commercial eggs is used to prevent the eggs from decaying but it creates health risks for women who consume the sterilized eggs. Everything you eat whether its negative or positive, natural or unnatural, effects your entire being. So yes, eggs play a role in infertility and impotence.

Also implicating prostate woes, egg consumption can not make a man more sexually potent.

Naturally, eggs are a reptilian food. It is common for snakes, lizards, and alligators to eat eggs.

Genetically Engineered

You should also know that since corporate farms have genetically engineered their own birds for egg production.

These chicken creatures are injected with a synthetic female estrogen hormone for faster development and to increase the production of eggs. The companies have even patented these genetically engineered creatures and they have the rights on their byproducts-the eggs. Therefore, these genetically engineered creatures produce eggs that are naturally sterile, devitalized, and will not hatch under any circumstances. These are the eggs that are widely distributed in most grocery stores and markets.

The original chicken or hen eggs are brown, not white. The white eggs indicate the genetically engineered birds, strange fertilization, and/or egg production environment. Corporate farms place the chicken creatures in rooms where there is always light so that these creatures will lay eggs throughout the entire day.

Boiling

An egg must first be boiled in order to get what is called the egg white. Boiling is an unnatural process that greatly alters the egg’s chemical and molecular composition. A boiled egg is extremely different than a raw egg.

Solutions

If you are confused about food additives and ingredients, purchase the book “A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives” by Ruth Winter, M.S.

When recipes call for eggs, try using Egg Replacer instead of eggs. Egg Replacer is an alternative non-animal and non-egg product that is available at most health food stores.

And don’t be fooled by the terms farm-fed, grain-fed, or free range that you commonly see on egg cartons.

While Americans love and enjoy their favorite sweet treat, the overwhelming majority of ice cream eaters don’t know what they’re eating. Chocolate, French Vanilla, Neapolitan, Cookies N Cream, Praline Pecan, Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, Butter Pecan, Mint Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road, Marble Fudge, Chocolate Fudge and a host of other ambrosial flavored brands-harmful? How so?

Dairy

First of all, since ice cream is a dairy product, it derives from an animal.

Dairy products are a contributing cause of leukemia in young American children. Leukemia used to be a disease indicative of Caucasians, but we have recently seen an increase in the African-American population because they are consuming more dairy products than before.

Additives

Normally, ice cream is derived from a female animal. Most female animals in America are injected with synthetic chemical hormones to make the cows develop faster. Therefore, ice cream is laced with synthetic hormones that greatly affect the female and male hormonal system. These chemical hormones can cause female reproductive area cancers in human females.

If the chemical hormones of synthetic estrogen make the female cow grow bigger and develop faster, what do you think it does to young American girls who love to eat ice cream? These little young American girls are walking around at age 8, 9 and 10 with fully developed breasts and buttocks, something you didn’t see in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s. The chemical food industry is responsible for this development.

Not only does ice cream contain harmful chemical growth hormones, but it also consists of a lot of other chemical additives that are injurious to health.

Did you know that many conventional and commercial brands of ice cream contain the same ingredient that is used in anti-freeze solution for cars? Propylene glycol is being used as an ingredient in many ice creams and cupcakes.

Other additives found in ice cream include Piperonal, which is used in place of vanilla. Piperonal is also a chemical that is used to treat lice. Diethyl glucol is a cheap chemical used as an emulsifier instead of eggs. It can also be found in antifreeze and paint removers. Butyraldehyde is used in nut-flavored ice cream and is one of the ingredients in rubber cement. Amyl acetate is a chemical used for banana flavor. However, it is also used as an oil paint solvent. Ethyl acetate is used for pineapple flavor and is mainly used as a cleaner for leather and textiles. Aldehyde C17 is a chemical used to flavor cherry ice cream but is used as a inflammable liquid used in aniline dyes, plastic and rubber.

Sugar

Ice cream is sweet because of the number one and most addictive drug in the world – sugar! And the dairy industry is very clever and has learned how to hide sugar ingredients. Various forms of synthetic chemical sugars and sweeteners can be found under such umbrella terms as:

 • Sucrol
 • Maltose
 • Dextrose
 • Glucose
 • Saccharin
 • Aspartame
 • Xylitol

And if you didn’t know, saccharin and aspartame can cause cancer. These chemical artificial sweeteners are carcinogenic and can cause cancer.

Ice cream, like all other dairy products is fattening. It is impossible to have a fat-free dairy product. Low fat and nonfat products have fat in them. You can’t believe everything that the food industry claims.

Remember, sugar converts into fat in the human body and is stored in the fatty reserves, including the buttocks, breasts, thighs, belly, and back arms. Many people talk about losing weight and the easiest way to do so is to avoid eating certain foods. If you are having difficulty with the willpower, discipline, self-love, or fortitude, you may be dealing with emotional blockage or spiritual imbalance.

Solutions

If you eat conventional and commercial brands of ice cream, you should read the ingredients on the label and take notice of anything that can be hazardous to your health.

I am not suggesting that we need to completely avoid eating ice cream. I am just suggesting that we should be more aware of what we’re putting into our bodies. Ice cream is an American staple that does not need to be avoided, but limited in quantity.

There are many healthy nondairy alternatives to conventional ice creams.

Most health food stores carry a host of nondairy brands of ice cream that are far better and safer than regular dairy-based ice cream.

Alternative nondairy brands of ice cream include Rice Dream, Soy Dream, Carb Escapes, Freezees, Soy Delicious, Whole Soy, Tofutti, Natural Choice, and Sweet Nothings. Many different flavors are available under these brands. Whether you enjoy ice cream, sorbet, fruit bars or fudge bars, there are alternatives out there for you.

However, although these brands are nondairy, you should still read the labels for questionable ingredients, especially for the sugars. Rice Dream, Carb Escapes, Freezees, Soy Dream, and Soy Delicious seem to have the best ingredients, including sweeteners. However, Natural Choice uses evaporated sugar in their sorbet, Whole Soy uses organic sugar, and Tofutti also contains a questionable sweetener. However, compared to the real thing, these brands are much healthier and ideal for the health conscious consumer and vegan.

Ice cream is a treat that can be enjoyed as a delight or reward for special occasions. In regards to your health, you should not indulge in treats such as ice cream every day.

You would be wise to start reserving your special delights or sweet treats for the weekend, rather than engaging in them every single day during the week. Give yourself something to look forward to. That ice cream isn’t going anywhere!
