The papaya is popular in tropical areas of the world. For instance, Thailand has the green papaya salad, India has papaya chutney or papaya lassi, and Hawaii has papaya vinaigrettes and salsas. This just goes to show you how versatile the papaya can be. For this smoothie recipe, we harness the sweetness of the papaya and the papaya alone.
Unlike other smoothie recipes that contain a combination of fruits and vegetables, this smoothie only contains papaya. Well, it has some homemade almond milk and agave syrup, but this smoothie highlights the tropical taste of the papaya. If you can get your hands on a papaya from Hawaii (available at Sprouts or Whole Foods), that is ideal. The large papayas from Mexico are not as sweet and have somewhat of a bland flavor.
