With spring just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about cleansing everything. From your wardrobe and garage to your pantry and body, spring cleansing is about more than getting rid of a pair of pants and a couple T-shirts. Within recent years, more people started cleansing their bodies to help get rid of accumulated junk, which also seems to pile up in the home. Giving both the body and home a deep clean is an excellent way to begin the new season, inviting positivity, cleanliness, and better health into your life.

There are many detox smoothie recipes that exist on various health and food blogs. Deciding on a recipe can be a daunting task, especially if you aren’t familiar with different flavor combinations. In reality, you don’t need a long list of detox ingredients that make your smoothie taste like lawn clippings. A few simple ingredients will do your body good! In the case of this recipe, the focal point is cucumbers, which are incredibly hydrating and great for the skin and hair. The main reason that health food enthusiasts love cucumbers for detoxing is because they help to flush toxins from the gut. Cucumbers contain digestive enzymes that stimulate digestive function, making them a great ingredient to help kickstart your day.

Pears contain a lot of fiber, in addition to other nutrients that aid the cleansing efforts of cucumbers. Plus, pears are naturally sweet, which balances the subtle bitterness from the kale. Speaking of the kale, it’s important to separate the leaves from the thick, fibrous central stems. Adding kale to a smoothie is a little less intimidating than eating it in a salad. In this smoothie, the sweetness of the pear may counteract kale’s signature flavor. We hope this helps your spring cleansing efforts!
