The trick is to use raw beets in your smoothies. Believe it or not, steaming the beets, allowing them to cool, and then adding them to smoothies imparts an earthier flavor. Plus, using raw beets is the best way to get the maximum nutritional benefits. The only thing to keep in mind is that you have to wash and peel the beets prior to adding them to the blender. When you peel and cube the beets, make sure to prepare the area and protect any clothing that you don’t want stains on. Beets easily stain, even your skin, so consider using disposable gloves to handle the beets.
Because beets may have a mealy texture, make sure to blend the smoothie until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Ingredients
- 2 oranges, peeled, and segmented
- 1 beet, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 avocado, pitted and peeled
- 1 1/2 -inch ginger, peeled
- 2 c pineapple, cubed and frozen overnight
- 1 c water
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour in more water if the smoothie is too thick for your liking.
- Pour into two separate cups and serve immediately.
