Graves’ Disease is an autoimmune disease that triggers overproduction of thyroid hormones. The disease causes a certain type of antibody to attach itself to cells in the thyroid. In layman’s terms, Grave’s Disease causes too much ‘thyroxin’, a hormone produced by the thyroid gland.
Causes and Risk Factors
The disease is said to be five times more common in women than in men. It occurs most frequently between ages 20 and 40. Risk factors include:
- Genetics (family history)
- Gender
- Age
- Other autoimmune disorders
- Emotional stress
- Physical stress
- Pregnancy
- Smoking cigarettes
Symptoms
Typical signs of Grave’s disease include:
- nervousness
- a fine tremor of the hands
- weight loss
- fatigue
- breathlessness
- palpitations
- heat intolerance
- increased metabolic rate, and
- gatro-intestinal motility
There may be an enlarged thymus, generalized hyperplasia of the lymph nodes, blurred or double vision, localized edema, and osteoporosis.
Natural Healing Solutions
All light-blue colored stones can also prove beneficial in healing from Grave’s Disease. These stones include:
- Dolphin Stone (Larimar)
- Blue lace Agate
- Blue Calcite
- Turquoise
- Celesite
- Blue Chalcedony
- Angelite, and
- Blue Kyanite
These stones/crystals can be applied directly over the thyroid gland area (over the skin), especially during a chakra balancing session.
Magnetic therapy can be especially helpful with Grave’s Disease. A powerful small-sized gauss magnet (2,500 – 14,000 g) can be applied over the thyroid gland via adhesive and worn during the daylight hours, or 12 hours on and 12 hours off.

- Kelp
- Dulse
- Iceland Moss
- Chlroella
- Blue Green Algae
