Using charcoal for a variety of DIY purposes has become quite the trend. From toothpastes to beauty products, charcoal is used for good reason. While it has the power to draw out medications and heavy metals from the body, it also has amazing skin cleansing properties. If you have ever struggled with oily skin, blackheads, or bad acne, you need this charcoal face mask.
Activated charcoal is carbon that has been treated to increase its absorbency. When ingested, charcoal essentially absorbs toxins in the stomach before they can enter the bloodstream. When applied to the skin it acts like a magnet, attracting dirt, oil, and other bacteria. The dirt and oils wash away once you rinse the charcoal from your face.
The best part about this mask is that it is filled with nontoxic ingredients that help to hydrate the skin. The coconut oil works to nourish and moisturize, while the bentonite clay helps to extract toxins. Make this mask and let us know how it works for your skin.
Ingredients:
- ½ tsp activated charcoal
- ½ tsp bentonite clay
- ¼ tsp organic virgin coconut oil, melted
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp water
Instructions:
- Combine all of the ingredients in small glass bowl and mix them using a wooden spoon. Don’t use any metal because that will negate the effects of the bentonite clay.
- Using your fingers, massage the mask all over your face. Leave it on for about ten minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Pat your face dry with a cloth.
- Make sure to use a natural hydrating moisturizer after the mask.
