People always want to get rid of blackheads. They are noticeable and you’ll do almost anything just shy of dumping gasoline on your face to get rid of them. Before you rip them out with patches or suck them out of your face with a face vacuum, try going the natural route because there are some great herbal remedies to attack blackheads.
What Are Blackheads?
These are small bumps that are caused by a build-up of oil and dead skin inside pores. While they typically appear on the face around the nose, they can also appear on the back, neck, arms, shoulders, and chest. Blackheads can make you feel self-conscious, which is why most people want to get rid of them as fast as possible. Look to the following remedies to see how to do it naturally.
Cinnamon
The antibacterial properties of cinnamon make it an excellent spice to help remove blackheads. It also works to moisturize and improve complexion. Mix one part organic cinnamon powder with two parts raw honey. Apply a very thin layer over your blackheads and let rest for 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and then pat dry. Use daily for best results.
Facial Steaming
This is a simple and effective way to cleanse your pores. Boil about 3-4 cups of water and then pour it in a heat-safe bowl on your counter or table. Get a large towel and drape it over your head and the bowl, creating a makeshift steam room for your face. Rest here for as long as you can and then wash your face with cold water to close your pores.
Epsom Salt
Epsom salt has many uses. It has tons of beneficial minerals that make for a great cleansing scrub, either for your face or body. Mix about 1-2 teaspoons of Epsom salt with a few drops of iodine and warm water. Let the salt dissolve in the water and let it cool to room temperature. Using a cotton ball, dab it in the solution and apply it to the area of blackheads. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash with warm water.
Baking Soda
Baking soda has many uses outside of the kitchen, one of them being a natural remedy to get rid of blackheads. It helps to get rid of impurities in your pores. Mix 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of sparkling water to form a thick paste. Gently apply this paste on the problem area for about 3-4 minutes. Let the paste dry and then rinse with warm water. Do this twice a week to prevent future blackheads.
Honey
Honey has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, making it great for getting rid of impurities that clog your pores. Using honey helps to pull dirt from the pores, but don’t use it if you are allergic to honey. Remember, using raw honey is best. Warm 1 tablespoon of organic raw honey. You can do this by putting the honey in a jar and putting the jar in hot water. Dab the warm honey on the problem area and let sit for 10 minutes. Remove with a warm, damp cloth.
