Most people in the world, especially the British, say “hurb”.
However, in the United States, we have been taught to say “urb“. While it may be correct to pronounce “herb” with a silent “h”, it doesn’t make the other pronunciation wrong.
Many people have been conditioned to pronounce words one particular way. Rather than trying to understand where the pronunciation of a word comes from, most people believe that there is only one correct way to pronounce a word. Repeatedly hearing the pronunciation of a word makes it seem correct even if its not.
