Frozen yogurt is one of the most popular dessert items because the stores allow you to build your own dessert. In fact, many people prefer frozen yogurt to ice cream. Some people think that frozen yogurt is healthier than ice cream because some flavors have the “no sugar added” label. Just because there are no added sugars, that doesn’t mean the fat, dairy, other chemical ingredients go away.
Yogurt is not a new dessert. It has been well-documented in the Middle East and India for over 4,000 years. It was only brought to the Americas in the early 1900s, but someone had a bright idea to make it into a frozen dessert in the latter half of the century.
Originally developed in 1970, frozen yogurt is a soft-serve dessert that was originally known as frogurt. It became increasingly popular in the 1980s because frozen yogurts were labeled as “health foods.” TCBY was one of the main companies that spearheaded the frozen yogurt movement. It now has its own day (February 6th)! Ice cream manufactures began competing with frozen yogurt, offering low-fat options.
We don’t have any frozen yogurt recipes, but we are giving you the next best thing: sorbet. Sorbets are very easy to make and can be consumed while you are cleansing, provided you make them like the recipes below.
Raw Honeydew Sorbet
Honeydew is a great hydrating fruit because it is mostly water. This makes it great for sorbets, smoothies, and it’ll help cool you off in the hotter months.

Hydrating Watermelon Sorbet
Just when you thought watermelon couldn’t get any better, it did with this refreshing sorbet. If you’d rather have more of a slushie, you can use a little more water. A thicker sorbet will come from using less water and more ice. If you’re feeling a little experimental, add in a few mint leaves!
