While most people don’t realize it, snacking is one of the most important aspects of the raw vegan diet that accompanies every Dherbs cleanse. The extra sustenance between meals keeps energy levels up and helps you avoid falling off the diet. Snacking on the raw vegan diet is not the same as the snacking most people are used to, though. You can only eat nuts, seeds, vegetables, and fruits.

One of the most common questions that our cleansers ask us is: “Can I eat protein bars?” The answer is always “no,” but that changes today! We are excited to introduce our Dherbs Kitchen raw food bars, which are 100% cleanse-approved snacks. Coming in six different flavors, these bars are made from an assortment of super foods and they are free of added sugars, chemicals, processed ingredients, and artificial flavors.

About The Bars

Dherbs is committed to offering its loyal customers high-quality products made from all natural ingredients, and these bars are no different. Containing a mixture of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, agave, and grade A maple syrup, these bars provide essential nutrients that help keep you full between meals. With only five to seven ingredients in each bar, you can’t go wrong.

As we mentioned before, there are six unique flavors. We like options, and we wanted our customers to have the opportunity to snack on different flavor profiles. Whether you like sweet, chocolaty, nutty, tart, or tropical flavors, Dherbs has got you covered. One bar is incredibly filling, providing you with more energy than you’ve ever felt while cleansing. Snack until your heart’s desire! You can check out all of the bars below.

The average person’s body typically has a lot of built up impurities inside the body. The accumulation of toxins and waste manifests in the form of poor digestion, sore joints, achy muscles, brain fog, frequent headaches, gas, inflammation, acne, and more. The body has the ability to eliminate toxins, but roughly half of the world’s population consumes more toxins than the body can eliminate. This is where cleansing comes into play.

What Is A Cleanse?

A cleanse is typically a series of supplements that work to clean and rejuvenate the body’s major organs and systems. It is often accompanied by a special diet (the raw vegan diet in the case of the Dherbs Full Body Cleanse) that provides optimal nourishment and enhances the cleansing process. Most people use cleanses to lose weight, but this is merely a benefit. The primary purpose of a cleanse is to hit the reset button on the body, and cleansing can result in better sleep, improved sexual function, clearer skin, mental clarity, reduced allergy symptoms, and more energy.

When you decide to cleanse, you can expect to experience the following benefits.

You’ll Reboot The Body

Cleansing the body is comparable to taking your car in for service. You don’t want to drive around in something that operates poorly, right? Treat your body the same way! When you take a break from unhealthy foods, addictive substances (caffeine, sugar, processed foods, alcohol, etc.), the body can get back to normal, the original factory settings if you will.

You’ll Have More Energy

More often than not, the average person experiences fatigue or sluggishness. This is occasionally attributed to a caffeine or sugar crash, but hydrogenated oils and fatty foods also contribute to fatigue. By eliminating all of those foods and focusing on water, fresh fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts and seeds, you can increase energy levels. For example, people find that they experience fewer midday crashes and they wake up with more energy during the cleansing process. The improved energy also comes from the ability to sleep better, which is another benefit of cleansing

You’ll Kick Your Cravings

Flour and sugar are two of the most biologically addictive foods. The food industry has hacked the biology of many people, because these foods alter brain chemistry, metabolism, and hormones. Food manufacturers create what is known as “the bliss point” to lure people to buy more of their foods. Sugar is roughly eight times more addictive than cocaine, which is why many people have a hard time kicking sugar cravings. Cleansing the body helps you get off that junk food hamster wheel! You’ll feel so good that you won’t even want to eat those foods after your cleanse.

You’ll Improve Digestion

A high percentage of diseases originate in the digestive tract, specifically in the colon. This is primarily because people can store 15-25 pounds of undigested waste in the digestive system. Cleansing naturally increases your fiber intake, which helps to move food through the digestive tract. Lubricating the intestinal walls can also get rid of built-up waste, improving the overall function of the digestive system.

You’ll Have Clearer Skin

Environmental pollutants and toxins from your diet can affect the largest organ in the body: your skin. Most people don’t consider that certain foods, which they regularly eat, cause acne, breakouts, hives, or rashes. Cleansing these foods from the body gives you a reset, and your skin can have a chance to thrive again. As toxins leave the body, it is possible to experience an increase in acne or patchiness, but these are common symptoms of cleansing. Don’t worry, things will clear up and you can experience improved complexion, reduced blemishes, and even a youthful glow.

You’ll Lose Weight

This is the primary reason that people decide to cleanse. If people don’t lose weight it’s because they either have an underlying health condition that prevents weight loss or a hormonal imbalance. Cleansing forces you to eliminate common foods that pack on the pounds, including sugar, simple carbs, greasy foods, meats, dairy products, and more. Eliminating the residual toxins from those foods can help the body release weight more efficiently than a simple calorie counting diet.

You’ll Have Healthier Habits

It’s easy to be healthy for 10 or 20 days, but being healthy for a year is even better. When you see and feel the difference in the way your body functions, you want to keep that feeling going long after the cleanse is over. Learning about healthier recipes and what you can do with different foods helps you form habits for a healthier life. Replacing old unhealthy foods with healthier foods makes your health a priority!

You’ll Restore Internal Balance

You may or may not notice this benefit, but it’s the most important one. The body contains a complex series of systems that intertwine and work together. They can’t function optimally if one or more of those systems is plagued by toxins. By cleansing the entire body, you help to restore balance to your internal systems, which can lead to better overall health.

People who participate in Dherbs cleanses are occasionally confused about the raw vegan diet. We’ve heard it all, folks, and the questions about the cleansing diet will never stop. This is completely normal because the raw vegan diet forces you to focus on foods that people often neglect. These foods include raw fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts and seeds. Yet, there are still questions about the diet, and this article intends to clear up the confusion surrounding the foods that people think are cleanse-approved.

YOU CAN ONLY CONSUME RAW FRUITS, VEGETABLES, AND RAW NUTS AND SEEDS WHILE CLEANSING. YOU CANNOT COOK THESE ITEMS AND YOU CANNOT CONSUME MEAT, FISH, POULTRY, PROCESSED FOODS, REFINED SUGARS, ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS, COFFEE, OR SUGARY BOTTLED BEVERAGES.

Despite those instructions, we still receive questions about eating beans, chicken, or roasted vegetables while cleansing. Sure, there are a few additional items (like spices, nutritional yeast, olive oil, raw apple cider vinegar, and certain raw vegan items) that are acceptable to consume. Yet, questions about beans, canned foods, sweeteners, bottled juices, and other food items keep pouring in. We welcome your questions, everyone, because that is how you receive clarification.

Some people don’t understand why certain items are not acceptable to eat during the cleansing process. For this reason we decided to put together the most common foods that people ask us about eating during their cleanse.

Corn

Yes, corn is a vegetable, but the kernel (where popcorn comes from) is a grain, well a whole grain to be completely accurate. To further complicate things, most grains like corn are technically fruits, because they come from the seeds or flowers of the plant. What does this mean for you, the cleanser? In short, you cannot consume corn during the cleanse. It requires cooking, contains genetically modified organisms, and it is not nearly as nutrient dense as other fruits and vegetables.

Ezekiel Bread

Sorry, folks, but the answer is no, no, and no again. While this is an excellent product to consume after you finish cleansing, it is not acceptable to consume during your cleanse. This bread is made with wheat, soybeans, lentils, spelt, millet, and barley, and it is a baked product.

Store Bought Salad Dressings

People get upset when we tell them that store bought salad dressings, even the vegan ones, are not cleanse approved. The reason for this is because bottled dressings often contain dairy products, added sugars, saturated fats, trans fats, and other preservatives. Instead of drowning your salads with unhealthy dressings, whip up your own. It’s so easy to make homemade dressings!

Honey

This one frustrates a lot of people. Honey is a common sweetener, especially for herbal, caffeine-free teas. While raw organic honey has its benefits, it is not a raw vegan product because it comes from bees. Often times, people purchase heavily-processed honey that contains added sugars. Instead of honey, you can use raw agave syrup, stevia, and grade A maple syrup as sweeteners during your cleanse.

Legumes

Yes, legumes are excellent sources of heart-healthy fats, fiber, and protein, but they are not cleanse-approved. Legumes are staples in various cuisines around the world, but they aren’t staples in the raw vegan diet. Eat them when you finish cleansing, though, because they help to fill you up with tons of high quality fiber, which prevents over-eating or excess snacking between meals.

Bottled Juice

There is one exception to this rule and it is that you can purchase a bottled juice from a juicery that cold-presses the juice in house. Other bottled juices contain sugar, preservatives, and they are fortified with nutrients because the processing strips away the flavor and nutritional value of the ingredients.

Balsamic Vinegar

The reason apple cider vinegar is acceptable to consume during the cleanse is because it doesn’t go through a heating process. Balsamic vinegar, on the other hand, involves boiling the sweet juice from pressed grapes into a concentrate. When you come off the cleanse, this is an excellent vinegar to use in homemade salad dressings.

Raw Fish And Sushi

Raw fish is not classified as vegetarian, vegan, and especially not raw vegan. Fish remains an animal product, no matter how you consume it; therefore, you cannot have raw fish while cleansing. And don’t get us started on sushi, because sushi involves cooked rice that is often sweetened with sugar and rice vinegar, two more foods that are not cleanse approved. Nori, however, is acceptable if it is not roasted.

Peanuts

Technically speaking, peanuts are legumes, which are not cleanse-approved. Additionally, peanuts tend to be hard on the digestive system, which is why we advise against consuming them during your cleanse. Opt for raw almonds, raw walnuts, raw pecans, raw pistachios, or raw cashews instead.

If you put in the work and follow the regimen diligently, you will feel rejuvenated, as though you opened a new, healthy chapter in life.

What Are The Benefits Of Cleansing?

First and foremost, the Full Body Cleanse is designed to clean out the body’s major organs and systems. One of the main benefits of the cleanse is weight loss between 10 to 30 pounds over the course of the 20 days.* This is very attractive for people who struggle with weight management. Often times, cleansing illuminates a path out of the darkness, showing people that they can use food to keep their bodies as healthy as possible. Other benefits of the Dherbs Full Body Cleanse include:

  • Reduced sugar and junk food cravings
  • Immune system support
  • Enhanced energy levels
  • Clearer mind & improved focus
  • More resilient skin
  • Improved digestion
  • Reduced bloating

Here’s What Our Customers Have To Say

You don’t have to simply trust our claims about the Full Body Cleanse. Our customers regularly experience amazing results and their testimonials are all over our site. Here are some of the most recent reviews that praise this product.

“I liked this product a lot. I wanted to use it for weight loss and it helped for that as well, but my main goal was to pass several stones and heal some fibroids. For myself, this product was excellent. I was able to save 15k during a delayed surgery because of COVID-19. I do feel 1,000 times better and would like to try it again to achieve better results as I did not eat optimal on the first go around. I would recommend this product for anyone needing to purge the body/system of unwanted sludge. I wish it came in extra strength. You all are doing so much good over there. Keep up the good works. I Thank Jesus for You. Stay Blessed.” – Michell

“The Full Body Cleanse (FBC) was definitely worth trying! I chose this cleanse to be healthier and to try a new way of eating. On the FBC, I was energetic, I was never hungry, I slept great and I could think clearer. In addition, I must say that the recipes are amazing! I tried foods that I never liked and surprisingly I now love them! Overall, I highly recommend the FBC if you are looking to fully rid your body of impurities and to regain your life back!” – Stefani

“I loved it! I felt a difference immediately when I started the supplements. I thought it would be hard with the strict diet but after losing 7 pounds the first 5 days, it made the diet that much easier! I also suffer from chronic migraines and I was getting them every week and it would last 3-4 days every time. I KID YOU NOT, I HAVE NOT HAD A MIGRAINE SINCE STARTING THE FULL BODY CLEANSE! If that’s not enough to reel you in then I don’t know what it is!” – Tierra

“A Life Changing Experience Rocky vs. Drago is what the Full Body Cleanse is like. Clearly Drago is our bodies and mind holding us back and fighting with us all the way as we attempt to reestablish our balance and alignment. The Full Body Cleanse is an ideal product that symbolizes the spirit of Rocky. I did the Cleanse to balance my body (my blood pressure went from 151/91 to 122/75) and to lose weight ( I lost 34 pounds). I very much doubted the positive impact that the cleanse would have on my life and thought it was like the Wizard of Oz. I was absolutely WRONG. The Full Body Cleanse is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone. After losing 34 pounds, I’m able to run again. As each day goes on and you see the benefits you will begin to defeat your own personal Drago (poor eating habits, lack of energy and drive) and begin to hear that Rocky Music playing in your life.” – Michael

“Dear Dherbs, I would like to thank you for your product which has changed my life. I’m 40 years old; I’m a stay home mom, I have 3 kids and no time for myself. I tried so many plans/diets but none of them ever worked for me. I started to have health problems because of my weight and lack of exercise. My doctor told me I needed to lose at least 30 pounds. My friend uses your products religiously and recommended the Cleanse. I was scared at first because I couldn’t imagine myself not eating desserts and other goodies. I started and how I was surprised… I didn’t feel any need to cheat the first ten days, second half was a little harder because I started to long for some sweets but I stayed strong telling myself, “You only have a few days left.” I also started to visit the gym 3 times a week because I suddenly had so much energy and felt so good inside and out. I lost 35 pounds and I’ve been able to keep it off for over a year. The second time I did the Full Body Cleanse I lost 15 pounds more. This is my third time ordering the Cleanse and I can’t wait! I’m loving life!!! Yours forever, Jane” – Jane

*These numbers are based on actual user reports, but results may vary depending on underlying health conditions.

People with IBS can shutter at the thought of cleansing. The last thing they want to do is spend all day in the restroom, fearing that they won’t be able to control their bowels if they leave. Cleansing can be tough, and almost everyone struggles during the first few days. That being said, the accompanying diet to the cleanse, which focuses on plant-based, nutrient-dense foods, is free of the foods that typically worsen symptoms of IBS.

What Causes IBS?

The exact cause of IBS, also known as irritable bowel syndrome, is not known, but the theory is that it is attributed to a combination of circumstances. The intestinal walls are lined with a layer of muscles, which contract and relax in unison as food enters the intestines from the stomach. If you are affected by IBS, these contractions can be stronger or weaker. Strong contractions can induce bloating, gas, or diarrhea, while weaker contractions may slow the digestive process and lead to constipation. Common causes are:

  • The foods you eat
  • Stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Bacterial overgrowth in the intestines
  • Dietary allergies
  • Infectious diarrhea

Foods To Avoid If You Have IBS

A healthy diet plays are large role in one’s ability to manage IBS symptoms, while unhealthy foods can trigger symptoms. Symptoms will vary because each person will reach to foods differently, based on the severity of the condition. Nutritionists advise that people with IBS should avoid the following foods if they want to manage symptoms:

  • Gluten (commonly causes diarrhea in IBS patients, a high percentage of which are gluten intolerant)
  • Fried foods (frying food changes the chemical makeup, and makes it more difficult to digest)
  • Processed foods (processed foods contain additives and preservatives that can trigger flare-ups)
  • Dairy products (most people with IBS are lactose intolerant, but dairy also contains fat, which can increase diarrhea)
  • Chocolate (chocolate candies have a high concentration of sugar and caffeine, two things that trigger IBS symptoms)
  • Alcohol (IBS patients who drink are in big trouble because it can dehydrate the body, affect liver function, and impair digestion)

Foods To Focus On If You Have IBS

There is a lot of old news about things that you should eat if you have IBS. People with IBS should focus on certain fresh vegetables, fiber, fruits, and dairy-free alternatives like almond milk or cashew milk. It can be beneficial to consume the following foods if you have IBS:

  • Prebiotics (these foods, which include asparagus, leeks, mango, carrots, bell peppers, cabbage, apples, and bananas, help to improve immune health and establish healthier gut flora)
  • Water (the importance of water cannot be stressed enough because water is necessary for a healthy digestive system)
  • Raw apple cider vinegar (many anecdotal reports have shown that apple cider vinegar helps to establish healthier pH levels in the gut)
  • Probiotics (these work in conjunction with prebiotics to help improve gut flora, and these foods include kimchi, fermented vegetables, and non-processed sauerkraut)
  • Fruits (like kiwi, honeydew, cantaloupe, and berries)
  • Vegetables (lettuce, cucumber, carrots, bok choy, turnips, and sweet potatoes)

How Does Cleansing Help IBS?

Cleansing is beneficial for the entire body, especially for the digestive system. Many foods in the Standard American Diet are hard for the body to process, and they can accumulate in the digestive tract. This waste accumulation can aggravate IBS symptoms, so cleansing them from the digestive tract has been known to aid people with IBS. It is also worth noting that cleansing the body is extremely beneficial for the liver, which is the primary detoxification organ.

It’s All About The Liver

The liver can become overworked because people consume more toxins than it can process. An overworked liver can become sluggish or impaired, leading to symptoms like nausea, fatigue, anxiety, moodiness, and even IBS symptoms. The liver can become overwhelmed by simple carbs, sugars, stress, and pharmaceuticals. Cleansing can assist the liver and help it relax, in addition to stimulating bile flow. In case you didn’t know, healthy bile flow assists with regular bowel movements and the digestion of fats. You may find that your IBS symptoms drastically reduce as your liver becomes less taxed and healthier.

Each person with IBS may react differently to cleansing. It may be more beneficial for some and not as beneficial for others. The main takeaway is that the digestive system is complex and you need to get to know your body for healing to begin.

We understand that cleansing can be difficult at times, but, as you may discover or have discovered, it is not impossible. The raw foods diet is vastly different than the Standard American Diet (SAD), which most of us are used to. You don’t want to get used to the foods in the SAD because they contribute to high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, high cholesterol, or diabetes. This diet also makes us dependent on certain vices like caffeine.

Some people hankering for caffeine during the cleanse, but we urge you all to overcome this craving because there are natural ways to keep yourself energized. You don’t have to worry about getting out of bed or sinking into an afternoon slump. To do this, it is integral to eat nutrient-dense foods that can provide the body with energy. To help you power through your days, we are going to give you some strategies for how to stay energized.

How To Start Your Day

It is crucial to start your day with a protein-rich breakfast. How do you do this without eating eggs, meat, or dairy, you ask? Always remember that leafy greens like spinach and kale or nuts & seeds are loaded with plant-based protein. You can also accompany a fruit smoothie with some homemade chia pudding, which is protein-rich. Before you start eating, though, start your morning with a cup of warm water mixed with the juice of half a lemon. This boosts your metabolism, gets the juices flowing, and helps to alkalize the body.

Starting your mornings with a superfood smoothie is beneficial because smoothies are predigested. This means that the body doesn’t really have to work to break down the foods and absorb the ingredients. You save energy this way and can use it to propel yourself until your next snack or meal.

How To Power Through The Afternoon

While it may be tempting to nurse yourself back to life with a cup of coffee or can of soda after lunch, don’t do it! You have to remember that you are looking for something to sustain your energy, not just a quick burst. Try eating half an avocado seasoned with a little sea salt and pepper. This not only keeps energy levels stable, but it also fills you up. You can also eat a green pear and dip it in homemade tahini. A cup of homemade chia pudding can also give you sustained energy in the afternoon. If you want something a little lighter that you can sip, a green vegetable juice is a great option. Just make sure to avoid packaged snacks, caffeine, and sugary products.

For more information about snacks that work to give you energy, try the following recipes and let us know how they work out for you.

The word “detox” is a buzzword in the health and wellness world. People discover strange programs that require them to drink odd concoctions that claim to completely detox specific organs. Those programs can be hard to maintain, yet people try to complete them. With New Year’s resolutions in full swing, we would like to bring up the topic of cleansing and how you can identify the signs that your body needs to cleanse.

The New Year is the perfect time to cleanse because you just put your body through holiday stress, excessive eating, and heavy drinking. Your liver, kidneys, immune system, and everything else in the body have been overworked. To avoid toxin accumulation and the development of health complications, it is best to hit the reset button and rid the body of any impurities. It’s time for a tune-up.

Note: You can’t get rid of junk if you keep supplying the body with more junk!

The body has the ability to naturally cleanse itself, but it cannot do this efficiently if there is an overabundance of toxins in the system. When there are too many toxins in the body, organs and systems begin to function poorly. It is quite common for people to misinterpret the signals that their bodies give them when they are in need of cleansing. Perhaps you brush off a skin irritation or ignore frequent headaches. Look at the list below and if you have experienced several of these symptoms over the past few months, it’s time to take part in the Full Body Cleanse.

Skin Issues

A common sign of too many toxins in the body is skin complications, including dry skin, rashes, itchy patches, or breakouts. Skin issues can chisel away at your self-esteem, which is why it is best to address the problem, as opposed to applying chemical creams that only mask the issue. Toxins in the blood commonly cause skin issues, but gastrointestinal troubles or poor immune function can be the culprits as well.

Frequent Headaches

If you have a toxic liver, you may experience frequent headaches. The pain is commonly around the temples or back of your head, and they are often accompanied by stomach pain or nausea, differentiating them from regular tension headaches. Too many toxins in the body prevent the liver from sending energy to the brain, ultimately aggravating the central nervous system and causing us pain as a result.

Constant Fatigue

Feeling tired after consecutive busy days or late nights can induce fatigue, but consistently feeling unmotivated or requiring caffeine to move is a completely separate issue. This may be caused by insufficient sleep, or the quality of your sleep may be poor. Constant fatigue can indicate that there are too many chemicals or toxins in the body, and the body is working overtime to eliminate them. This is typically the number one symptom people ignore, but they put up with it anyway. Cleanse for better energy!

Abdominal Bloating or Gas

If toxins fail to leave the body, they can remain in the intestines or stomach and cause cramps, pains, gas, or bloating. Bloating or gas is an indication that the microbiome has more bad bacteria than beneficial bacteria. An excess amount of bad bacteria can also lead to slowed digestion, slowed metabolism, and inflammation.

Bad Breath or Yellowish Coating on Your Tongue

One or both of these symptoms means that you have too many toxins in your system. While bacteria live inside the mouth, there aren’t too many strains that cause yellowish or white matter to appear on the tongue. This coating can contribute to bad breath and it is commonly linked to poor intestinal health or a poorly functioning liver. People who eat a lot of sugar, processed foods, unhealthy fats, and alcohol can cause these bacteria to build up.

Pay attention to your body because it tells you a lot about your health. You just have know the signs and take action when necessary.

Sadly, summer is over, which means that the bounty of peaches, watermelon, berries, and some other summer favorites won’t be as readily available in the coming months. The good news is that fall favorites are about to hit a grocery store or farmer’s market near you. Not only can buying seasonal produce save you money, but it is also the best way to eat the freshest, local produce. Most places in the U.S. see the same produce items when they are in season, but produce times peak at different areas, especially when it comes to buying from farmers markets.

You may see certain produce items during the fall season and say to yourself, “I want to eat that, but I don’t know how to eat it or if it’s cleanse-approved.” If it is a fruit or vegetable, you are typically safe to eat it while cleansing, but there are a few exceptions. You may not want to eat butternut squash raw, for instance.

The most important thing about cleansing is to vary your meals to keep your taste buds interested. Check out the following cleanse-approved recipes for upcoming fall produce.

Fennel

Fennel has an assertive licorice flavor, which can be an acquired taste. People who use fennel should thinly slice it with a mandolin, or possess some chef-like  and incorporate it into slaws or salads. You can also cut up the fronds in dips or spreads.

Apple

Probably the most signature fall fruit, apples are crisp and complement things like almond butter, fennel, kale, and arugula. The inherent polyphenols have been linked to lower cholesterol levels, while the vitamin C content helps to improve immune function. Make sure to wash the skins because they are often coated with pesticides and wax.

Grapes

The best grape varieties are harvested in the fall, so you know they are fresh, juicy, and delicious. Eat them as a healthy snack, add them to your salads for sweet bursts of flavor, or freeze them to eat as a guilt-free dessert. Grapes actually have a lot of vitamin K and C, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties that help keep your skin healthy.

Cucumbers

There’s nothing like a crisp cucumber, which helps to hydrate the body while you eat it. Rich in a variety of nutrients, cucumbers go great in salads, juices, or in detox waters. You can also snack on them by soaking them in lemon juice, sea salt, and chili powder. Due to their water content, placing cucumbers on your eyes can help get rid of dark circles because they help to hydrate the skin.

Broccoli

Broccoli is one of the best plant-based protein sources and it can be treated in many ways. Whether you roast it, blend it, shred it for salads, blend it for dips, or crunch on it as a snack, broccoli pairs well with powerful flavors like ginger, garlic, pepper, or red pepper flakes. One of the primary reasons to eat broccoli is because it may prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver, helping to inhibit the development of fatty liver disease.

Sweet Potatoes

We couldn’t make a list of fall produce items without including sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes can be used for so much more than Thanksgiving casseroles or pies. Roast them to make fries, boil them to make a sweet potato mash, grate them to sauté as hash browns, or process them through a juicer. They are great sources of beta carotene, fiber, and contain essential blood pressure-lowering nutrients like potassium and magnesium. You can’t really go wrong eating these.

Pears

From Anjou to Bartlett, or Sugar Pears to Forelles, pears are actually a lot healthier than people think. They are rich in pectin, a complex carbohydrate, that helps promote healthy digestionboosts the immune system, and acts as a detox agent.

Pomegranates

While they are recognized as the fruit that makes up POM juice, pomegranates have been held sacred by ancient religions. The antioxidants in pomegranates may help to decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease, and early studies indicate that they may also help to inhibit breast and colon cancers.

Juicing is one of the best ways to get a wide variety of nutrients in your diet. Let it be known that juicing does not mean that you go to the grocery store to buy a bunch of bottled juices, which are full of sugar and preservatives. A lot of these bottled juices don’t even have real fruit in them! Simply put, juicing can change your health for the better.

What Is Juicing?

Juicing is essentially drinking your food. Using a juicer, you make your own juices from fresh fruits and vegetables. Juicing helps you integrate fruits and vegetables, which you might not normally eat, into your diet. If you are opposed to juicing, you can make smoothies instead because you can reap a lot of the same benefits.

Benefits of Juicing

The average American has a lot of built-up toxins and waste in the body. This is because we are exposed to environmental pollution and consume products that have lots of preservatives and chemicals, which the body cannot properly process. Drinking freshly made juices helps your body efficiently absorb nutrients from the fruits and vegetables. When you consume raw fruits in vegetables, your body doesn’t have to work as hard to utilize them, meaning your bodily systems and organs can function optimally.

Results You Can Experience While Juicing

  • Weight Loss
  • Hydration
  • An Alkaline Body
  • Clearer Skin
  • Healthier Nails
  • More Energy
  • Mental Clarity
  • Improved Immune System

Side Effects of Juicing

While juicing is beneficial, it is best if it is done in moderation. Juicing for too long can throw off your body because it starts to store food differently, when you start eating real food again. It may be harder for you to lose weight after juicing for a long period of time. It may also affect your digestive system, due to the fact that your body doesn’t really have work to digest food. This is why it is best to juice for three days to one week at a time. This is also why a lot of people like to do all smoothie diets. Smoothies help you feel full and they are packed with dietary fiber.

How To Start Juicing

You may not want to dive headfirst into juicing. It is best to wade in slowly until you get comfortable. What we mean by this is that you shouldn’t throw every green vegetable in existence into your first couple juices. Start off with familiar fruits and vegetables that have mild flavors. Such produce items include apples, lettuce, carrots, celery, cucumbers, oranges, strawberries, lemons, and tomatoes. After you experiment with these flavors, try adding nutritional powerhouses like beets, kale, chard, ginger, parsley, grapefruit, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and pears.

We don’t want to throw you into the juicing world without any guidance, so here are a few juicing combinations that you can experiment with. Remember that you can make smoothies with these recipes, but you will have to add ice and water, and they will be more fibrous and filling. You may also need to lessen the amount of ingredients if you are making smoothies.

Habitual caffeine consumption only leads to increased caffeine intake. Here’s why we don’t allow you to consume caffeine while you cleanse.

Caffeine is a stimulant, picking you up when feel like your energy levels have been depleted. Instead of addressing the root cause of your low energy levels, people just keep feeding their bodies more and more caffeine to climb out of lethargy. The thing about habitual caffeine consumption is that it only leads to an increased intake to yield that same feeling of energy that you originally felt from a half-cup of coffee, for instance.

Every so often, it is beneficial to reset your caffeine tolerance. By this, we mean that those who started out feeling an ultra boost at one cup a day now need three or four cups to feel that same jolt. Consuming caffeine in excess can be dangerous because you end up relying on it to function. Similar to requiring drugs to feel a certain way or aid with sleep, the body becomes dependent on caffeine. According to researchers, caffeine has been deemed the most commonly used psychoactive substance in the world. Increasing your caffeine intake can lead to adrenal fatigue, impaired sleep, exhaustion, and lack of productivity.

For a lot of people, the idea of not consuming a cup of coffee in the morning seems like an absolute nightmare. The primary purpose of rebooting the body during a cleanse is to make life easier on the liver. When you drink a caffeinated beverage, the liver must metabolize it to safely remove caffeine’s compounds from the body. The more caffeine you drink, the harder your body has to work, possibly reducing its ability to function properly. THIS IS WHY WE DON’T ALLOW CAFFEINE DURING THE CLEANSE! That and it’s also a vice that isn’t necessary for daily function, especially when the body receives natural energy from the herbs and raw foods diet.

Is Coffee Healthy?

The long-standing debate is whether or not coffee is healthy. In large amounts, coffee can induce tremors, cause anxiety or insomnia, increase heart rate, and reduce the amount of calcium in the body. Organic coffee that you drink black, without sugars or creamers, can be acceptable to drink on occasion. Caffeine shots and energy drinks are terrible for you, end of story. Coffee does have some anti-inflammatory properties that may ease migraine symptoms and lower the risk of Parkinson’s disease motor deficits. These anti-inflammatory properties can work if you drink one cup or less per day.

How To Come Off Caffeine Before Your Cleanse

Prior to beginning your cleanse, it is wise to wean yourself off caffeine so that your system isn’t thrown into shock. This especially applies to those of you who drink caffeine like it is life’s blood. Plan out your caffeine reduction period about one week before your cleanse starts. For the first couple days, we advise cutting your caffeine consumption in half. You should consume no more than one cup of coffee during the third and fourth day. For the remaining days before your cleanse, switch to green tea or decaf coffee.

If you don’t decide to decrease your caffeine consumption prior to starting your cleanse, that’s fine as well. Those who drink a lot of caffeine need to realize that quitting caffeine cold turkey can induce headaches, withdrawal symptoms, mood swings, or flu-like symptoms. Everyone is wired differently, meaning that those symptoms can happen to any caffeine consumer, no matter how much or how little they drink. The headaches often accompany those who are not staying sufficiently hydrated, so drink a lot of water throughout the day, especially during the first couple days of the cleanse.

Establish A Sleep Schedule

The average person uses caffeine as a wake up tool, but people often feel tired because they don’t get the amount of sleep they need. One of the benefits of cleansing, to which most people can attest, is improved sleep. To the best of your abilities, try to go to bed and wake up at consistent times every day. You can vary those times on your days off, but only by an hour or two at the most. The goal is to get a consistent seven or eight hours per night.

Should I Drink Caffeine After My Cleanse?

This will obviously be a personal decision because you have experienced how you feel with and without caffeine in your system. What we can say is that you should consume no more than a half-cup of coffee per day in the several days following your cleanse. Exceeding this amount can result in vomiting, severe headaches, or stomach pain. If you decide to continue drinking coffee post-cleanse, avoid added sugars, syrups, artificial sweeteners, dairy products, and soy products. Stevia, raw agave syrup, or monk fruit sweetener are some of the best options to sweeten coffee.

Some of you may find that drinking water or freshly made smoothies/juices may provide you the energy that you need when you finish cleansing. That cup of Joe may be a distant memory that you don’t feel you need to revisit. That’s perfectly acceptable, healthy even. Each person will handle post-cleanse caffeine intake differently, and it is up to them to consume it wisely and not abuse it. Caffeine is a drug, one of the most popular and delicious ones in existence, so consume it responsibly in order to maintain healthy sleep, energy, stress levels, and adrenal health.
