A Fruit smoothie with spinach is one of the easiest, healthiest ways to start your day. Since most people have difficulty consuming the recommended amount of vegetable servings, front-loading the day with veggies is a great way to get ahead in that department. Plus, a fruit and vegetable smoothie is just so darn tasty, especially when it contains the ingredients in this recipe.
The great thing about this spinach green apple smoothie is that you can taste each ingredient, yet the combination is a beautifully balanced blend. You get notes of sweet and sour because of the zesty Granny Smith apple. If you do not enjoy the flavor profile of a Granny Smith, feel free to choose an apple variety that you enjoy. Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, Golden Delicious, or even Sugarbee apples make great substitutes for the Granny Smith. That said, the slightly tart nature of the Granny Smith pairs beautifully with the tropical sweetness of the mango.
If something compels you to add another healthy ingredient to this simple four-ingredient smoothie, so be it! Chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or even raw almond butter make great additions. Plus, they provide extra protein, fiber, and healthy fats, all of which help satiate you until your next meal. You’ll notice that this does not contain banana, and that was a purposeful decision. Should you want to include banana in this smoothie, you can absolutely do that!
