Is it any wonder that so many people are addicted to sugar when we consider that sugar is a drug - the number one drug on the planet? Drugs are addictive and sugar is no exception to the rule. It's a drug! And like all other drugs, it is dangerous and has no place in the human temple (body) regardless of how good (sweet) it may taste. Its taste is deceptive!
Sugar addiction is a major problem here in the U.S., especially with women and children. However, what needs to be clarified is the kind of sugar that is detrimental, deleterious, and insalubrious and that is wrecking havoc on human health.
The kinds of sugar that is doing the serious harm to us (our health) are predominantly man-made sugars, refined sugars i.e. sucrose, glucose, dextrose, maltose, brown sugar, malitol, isomol, sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, cane sugar, turbinado sugar, sugar cane crystals (or cane crystals), evaporated cane juice, Succanat, Demerara sugar, natural milled cane sugar, dried cane juice, granulated cane juice, milled cane sugar, plantation white sugar, raw cane juice, molasses, muscovado sugar, unrefined cane sugar, barley malt, rice syrup, fruit juice concentrate, granular fruit sugar, aspartame, saccharin, NutraSweet, Sweet N' Low, Equal, and yellow-D sugar.
Most sugar comes from sugar beets and sugar cane. These are the two greatest sources of refined sugar. Fifty-percent (50%) of sugar comes from sugar cane, about forty-percent (40%) comes from sugar beet production, and the remaining ten percent (10%) come from sources like corn, hence, corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup, two very dangerous sugars widely used in food ("food-stuffs") and beverage today.
We can give credit to Russia and Brazil for most of our sugar in the world, especially the Western world, as these nations produce the most sugar though we here in the United States consume the most sugar, roughly 35-40 billion pounds per year.
If I had to give you one term to watch out for pertaining to sugar it would be "white refined sugar." We must be on guard against white refined food-stuffs. "If it's white, it ain't right" goes the well-known food maxim. But this is true and is applicable to white sugar, white salt, white flour, and white eggs. Why is white a scoffed at and deplored color pertaining to food? Because it is the color of refinement! Usually, anything that has been refined ends up white in color and pertaining to food this means the product is void of nutrition and thus lifeless - dead!
Sugar is produced by using high amounts of water, heat, calcium hydroxide (lime), carbon dioxide, and pork or pig byproduct (blood albumin and/or animal charcoal) to name a few of the things used to make this toxin called sugar.
Lime and carbon dioxide in and of themselves are toxins. During sugar's processing, it turns from a sticky black substance to a clear juice that is heated to remove impurities and after this process, it is bleached 'white' with chemicals derived from slaughtered pigs. Sugar is processed with pig blood which makes sugar non-Halal or non-Kosher.
I tell my Nation of Islam and other orthodox Muslim buddies that if they are consuming commercial sweets (and most of them are), i.e. Tic Tac mints, gum, candy bars, soda pop, and even their beloved famous bean pie, they are consuming pig byproduct and pig essence because if the product contains sugar, that sugar was processed in pig blood. Most of the time my words fall on deaf ears, but hey, I'm just a messenger giving a message.
The term 'sugar' is a general one. Today, there are numerous umbrella terms to hide sugar from us due to all the rightfully deserved bad publicity on sugar and because most people know that sugar is really no good for them, although they may still consume it, like it, and may be addicted to it.
However, we must not forget that Nature produces sugar (true fructose). Yes, man produces sugar (which has caused all the problems with the substance) but so does Nature.
The sugars or sweeteners Nature provides are not harmful to us because they are balanced sugars - balanced with nutrients! Sugar is really not the problem. It is unstable and isolated sugars that are problematic. Sugar by itself is unnatural and cannot be found in Nature. Nature always gives you a balanced substance or thing.
Mother's milk or breast milk is sweet, but it contains nutrients and thus is balanced. Same thing with maple syrup - it contains nutrients.
More than 70% of the sugars we consume are hidden in the foods we eat and beverages we drink.
Why do food and beverage manufacturers have to hide sugar from us? It's because they know and we now know that the refined sugars they use in their products are deleterious and insalubrious and it's really criminal to use such an ingredient for human consumption purposes. This is why sugar is so hidden in what we eat and drink today.
"...a typical 12 ounce soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar. The typical candy bar is almost all sugar.' Keith T. Wright
The human being's taste buds can detect the seven distinctive tastes of:
Sweet
Sour
Salty
Bitter
Acerbic
Pungent
Astringent
Unami
However, there are really five main or basic tastes and they include sweetness (sweet), saltiness (salt), and sourness (sour).
Tastes of sweet, salty, and sour generally dominate the American taste bud. I have come to discover that the most addictive tastes are those of sweetness and saltiness and when you mix sweetness with saltiness or sugar with salt, you are sure to get people hooked. Most sweet foods contain salt as an ingredient. Wherever you find sugar in a product, you are also sure to find salt.
After the sugar and salt connection, you'll find sweet and sour, i.e. sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour chicken, etc.
So, there's a play on mixing the three basic taste buds together to create products that are addictive and ensure returning customers.
Sugar and Disease
I won't spend a lot of time in this category because it's really obvious these days in how sugar plays a role in a host of diseases, actually, actually most diseases.
Sugar plays a role in the development of diabetes. In fact, diabetes used to be called 'sugar diabetes.'
In addition, sugar is implicated in heart disease, candida albicans, kidney failure, cancer, tooth decay, pancreas disorders, obesity, excess and unhealthy weight gain, neurological disorders, menstrual complaints, glaucoma, hypoglycemia, mood swings, depression, and headaches to name a few diseases sugar is implicated in if not the direct cause in some instances.
Sugar, along with another toxin called 'television' damages attention span. It is also actually the chief culprit in the New Age disorders called ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). These disorders really don't exist (despite real damage to the brain caused by sugar) but are used as an excuse or legal justification to drug American children in an attempt for the pharmaceutical industry to make more money via Ritalin and other Ritalin-like drugs sales and also to stop the influx of Light beings and Light workers incarnating on the planet as Crystal children, Rainbow children, Ruby children, Sirians, Komasan, etc. to help raise the consciousness of people on the planet.
Am I saying that there are not hyperactive children? No! There are and plenty of them but in most cases it's not their fault. It's not their fault they are being inundated with sugar before school starts. Sugar is a drug and these children strung out on sugar behave no different from other people high on drugs or who are experiencing a rush.
Simply do the research on just how much sugar is in the commercial breakfast cereals, Pop Tarts, donuts, cakes and pastries, soda pop, fruit juices, and the candy a lot of American school children are consuming first thing in the morning on school days.
Even the public schools are in on the sugar scheme because a lot of what they are consuming at school is loaded with sugar. The student stores on junior and senior high school campuses sell 100% sugar products especially in the form of soda pop and candy bars. The student store on school campuses can be called the campus 'crack house.'
Why sell sugar in an institution of education or learning when sugar impairs the brain, which is important pertaining to learning and memorization? The students don't need sugar! Instead, they should be given a cup of herbal tea - tea that will enhance mental acuity and memory, i.e. Ginko Biloba, Ginseng, Gotu Kola, and Holy Thistle. The students should be allowed to drink one of the herbs in tea form before the learning actually begins.
Soda pop machines are on many campuses today for political and financial reasons. Because state governments would not allocate the necessary monetary funding schools needed, corporations (i.e. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, etc.) came in and footed the bill but of course under the doctrine of quid pro quo (something for something).
In exchange for their money, corporations wanted soda pop dispensers on the campuses and in some cases they wanted large advertising banners in the gym and on the track, baseball, and football fields like you see with college and professional sports - large banners advertising Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, McDonald's, Pepsi, Coke, Subway, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, etc.
Where government will not fund schools, corporations are willing and ready to do so, but at a cost - the cost of our children's health and wellbeing and their ability to learn.
A recent report just came out and it revealed that sugar-bingeing is playing a major role in metabolic changes in the American population and in the exploding obesity rates. In part, here's what the report stated:
"Added sugars, which are sprinkled on and processed into packaged foods and beverages, have become all too common in the American diet, says the American Heart Association. The group argues that sugar bingeing is helping drive the uptick in metabolic changes in the American population, including the exploding obesity rate, and has now recommended an upper limit on daily consumption. (Sugar intake and cancer: What's the link?)
Women should consume no more than 100 calories per day of added sugars, and men should not top 150 calories per day. There goes the soda habit: One 12-ounce can contains about 8 teaspoons or about 33 grams of added sugar, which equals approximately 130 calories, notes the AHA. One gram of sugar serves up 4 calories, according to the American Dietetic Association. (Too much sugar causes wrinkles.) With math like that, it's not surprising that the average American rings up an average of 22.2 teaspoons, or 355 calories per day, of added sugars, mostly from sugar-sweetened beverages. But those who shun sweet-tasting drinks are not off the hook. Part of the challenge of avoiding added sugars, argues the AHA, is that they have become far more prevalent over time; the amount of added sugars in Americans' food options increased 19 percent between 1970 and 2005."
Sugar Addiction
I think it's safe to say that for most of us who are addicted to sugar that we got our first hit of the sweet white substance a few hours after we were born considering that hospitals feed babies sugar water. That's right! They sure do. I learned this when my little cousin Dennis had his daughter born in a hospital in my old city of Gardena, California and he walked over to my apartment a few hours after his daughter's birth and told me of all the hell he caught in the hospital making sure his daughter and girlfriend were not given poison and treated in a harmful way. He told me how he inquired of the contents of the water nurses were planning to give the baby and read the ingredients for himself and saw sucrose as an ingredient and objected to the water nurses wanted to give his child.
I'm glad I didn't have to go through what my cousin and a few friends did when I had my first child as we all my subsequent children. Thank God I became conscious and had home births instead of hospital births.
After most babies are exposed to the sugar drug in hospitals, they get their next hit of sugar from an unconscious parent or parents who purchase commercial baby food, i.e. Gerbers, which is saturated with at least 50% sugar. Sugar is the first taste we crave upon arrival and corporations know this and exploit it for the sake of profit.
The poisonous and toxic commercial grade infant formula milks also contain sugar (in their attempt to mimic mother's milk which is naturally sweet).
And as the child grows and develops in life, he or she will be exposed to more and more sugar through various products that will make the child a loyal sugar junkie. In fact, sugar will serve as a precursor to future drug use for many, be it legal drugs (over-the-counter, pharmaceutical grade) or illegal drugs.
Most of the candies we grew up consuming mimicked drugs in shape and color. Pill-shaped candies included M&M's, Skittles, Alexander the Grape, and Reese's Pieces to name a few.
Capsule-shaped candies include Hot Tamales and Mike & Ike.
In my day growing up as a child, the corner liquor store (legalized 'crack house') sold candy cigarettes (with a red-colored tip and powdered sugar smoke that you could blow) and liquor (in an edible wax bottle whereby you could chew off the top and drink the liquid inside). My cousins, neighborhood friends, and I would drink the colored sugar water in the wax bottle and then act drunk. We knew how to act drunk from watching our parents, aunts and uncles, our neighbors, friends' relatives, and the neighborhood winos when they were really drunk. We got firsthand experience!
Back in the 1970s and early 1980s, neighborhood children including my siblings and I consumed a lot of sugar in the form of candy, pastries, soda pop, and ice cream. Below is a listing of sugar-laden products (of all kinds) that were consumed by my friends, siblings, cousins, and myself back in the 1970s and 1980s:
"Big Bol bubble gum, Bazooka bubble gum, Now and Later, Big Charm lollipop (with a gum filling), Jolly Ranchers, Chico Sticks, Red Vines, M&Ms, Reese's Pieces, Marathon bar, Snickers, Milky Way, Fifth Avenue, Chunky, Butter Finger, Rolo, Mars bar, York Mint, Mr. Goodbar, Nestle Crunch, Twix, Three Musketeer, Watchamacallit, Baby Ruth, Almond Joy, Mounds, Hershey's bar, Hershey's w/Almonds, 100 Grand Bar, Goobers, Twizzler, Junior Mints, Kit Kat, Milk Duds, Whoppers, Payday, Kiss, Skor, Raisinets, Cella's Cherry Milk, Ring Pops, Pop Rocks, Starburst, Tootsie Roll, Fun Stick (dip stick), Charlie Chan, Alexander the Grape, Lemonheads, Jawbreakers, Boston Baked Beans, Life Savors, Life Savors, Tic Tac, Certs, Breathsavers, Halls (drops), Ludgren's Cherry (drops), Brach's Conversation Hearts (Valentine's Day candies), Charm's Blow Pop, Dum Dum Lollipops, Werther's Butterscotch, Black Licorice Twists, Jelly Beans, Gummi Worms, Bubblicious Gum, Chiclets (gum), Laffy Taffy, Pixy Stix, Sunkist Truly Fruit Gems, Sour Cherries, Candy Corn (usu. c. Yes, I know! A lot of junk was consumed and trust me - a lot of damage was done (especially to our teeth).
I never could understand why after all of my childhood dental appointments the dentist would give my siblings and I a big lollipop. As I became conscious and look back on these visits, I ask myself: "Why would you (Mr. Dentist) give me more of the substance (sugar) that brought me to the dentist in the first place?" But now it all makes sense. Like doctors who prescribe drugs for their patients, dentists are ensuring their client-customer base and future profits. This Matrix is no joke! You have to be wise and aware and you'll be eaten alive by human sharks and alligators all for the sake of profit.
Astrological Implications of Sugar Addiction
In the field of medical astrology, we deal with the underlying causes of diseases but we also deal with diseases certain souls born under certain signs are prone to, more prone to than other signs or people born under other signs of the Zodiac.
Pertaining to sugar addiction, people born under the constellation or sign of Libra are more prone to sugar addiction than any other sign in the Western Zodiac.
In Kemetic (ancient Egyptian) astrology, souls that incarnated in the months of Djehuty (Tehuti), c. September 11th to October 10th, and the early part of Faufega, c. October 11th to November 9th are also prone to sugar addiction when they enter the Western world and take on the foreign ways of the Western world.
So Kemetians born under the signs of Aishat (Isis) a/k/a/ Auset (September 11th - October 10th) and Mahata a/k/a Ma'at (October 11th - November 9th) or being technical, between September 23rd and October 22nd (constituting Libra in the Western world) need to watch their sugar intake, especially if the sugars consumed are refined.
My father was a Libra and had a serious sugar addiction whether he acknowledged it or not or was conscious of it or not.
My father loved sweets. He had sweets with his breakfast, during or as his snack, and with his dinner. My mother always had to serve cinnamon rolls as a part of breakfast, the commercial ones with the synthetic fruit filling in the center (which was basically nothing but a sugary red-colored syrup).
My mother always had to include a commercial pastry in his lunch box too for work. She'd packed him a Suzy Q, Ding Dong, moon pie (yellow or brown one), Chocodile, or a Zingers. These were well known Hostess brands of pastries (with the exception of moon pies) that were well known during the 1970s.
For dinner, there was more synthetic sugar in the form of canned peaches (peach halves) or Fruit Cocktail. Both products were saturated in man-made sugary syrup. Come to think of it, regardless of what was served for dinner, there were always candied yams served on my father's plate. These candied yams were also out of a can which meant more sugar!
The Metaphysics of Sugar Addiction
Metaphysically, sugar addiction denotes perception of a spiritual void and/or emotional insufficiency or deficiency. The person addicted to sugar is using sugar to attempt to fill up a void in the person's life or what the person perceives as a void in their life, i.e. love, intimacy, romance, and/or affection.
In spiritual language, we can equate sugar ('sugah') to love and affection. In fact, back in the 1970s, my grandmothers and aunts, when they would tell us children (my siblings, cousins, and I) to come give them a hug and kiss, they would say: "Boy (or Girl), come give me some sugah!" And we'd come over to them and give em' a hug and a kiss on the cheek and have it reciprocated.
Interesting this hug and kiss (affection and love) was referred to or called 'sugah' (variant expression of 'sugar').
However, the soul of Black people began dying if not outright died, back in the early 1980s. What was experienced in the 1970s and prior decades began to fade and I'm sure many Caucasians, Asians, Hispanics and others can also relate to this as well because nothing happens in one community without affecting the nation at large to some degree.
Many American women, and a lot of African-American ones, fell for the Okie Doke in that they were independent and didn't need a man (only some penis or sex from a man) backfired on them and left them in a state of disarray.
Many American women became too successful in a linear way and thus an imbalanced way - materially or socially successful but at the expense of inner qualities of success like in the areas of the emotions, love, intimacy, and romance (which overlapped into relationships and marriage), goddessness, etc.
Thus, we entered in the genre known as the 'Sadness of the Successful Woman' genre, a woman who sacrificed her goddessness (Goddess nature) for the career path in a yang-energy dominated workforce.
These women ultimately became unhappy in life. Their jobs may have paid good and offered room for advancement, but the truth of the matter is their jobs were stressful and resulted in these women needing constant forms of relaxation and release, which for many African-American women created the after-work ritual of sipping on a glass of wine and having the boyfriend (stud) come by or going to his house for some sex, which soon created the ritual of the proverbial 'booty call.'
In their minds, these women had to settle for this. For many, marriage was not in the picture for them with the man or men they were having sex with. Most of these studs that were banging them down sexually were beneath them in many ways from socially, financially, mentally, and academically.
These bedmates were only good for a temporary thrill, a temporary release; a temporary release to help these women cope with the challenging demands of their stressful and chaotic jobs. This was especially true of Black women in this category due to the situation of lack of qualitative Black males that could actually compliment a successful and socially accomplished Black woman.
As Dr. Phil Valentine-El of University of Kemetian Sciences correctly stated, "Black women have become the successful man" and thus had difficulty in finding or attracting a successful man (Black man).
These women in their blindness and zeal for social success became what they desired. In truth, a Black man, the average one (of course), had nothing to offer her outside of his semen.
Gender roles and values became reversed and by no means am I blaming women here, especially for having a desire to be successful. It's nothing wrong with that at all. The problem erupts when a woman becomes blind or linear in her pursuit of success and the same with a man. It can happen to anybody. Men are not exempt from this and actually convey it more so than women. Worldly success greatly blinds a lot of men, especially men in high positions of social-political life.
Every race in America including Hispanics and Caucasians have a situation whereby women move up the ladder of social success and men, perhaps from the same neighborhood or community, lag behind them and cannot compliment them outside of the sex act. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, this situation is far more prevalent amongst African-Americans due to their great state of disarray, disenfranchisement, and dysfunction here in the United States.
Many successful women are now lonely and depressed. To pass up the time and make up for the lack of love and affection they do not feel or receive, they eat, and thus a surge and explosion of women with eating disorders. But also, we have a surge of women who are borderline alcoholic and obese as well.
These women have eating addictions that are undergirded by sugar addiction because just about everything they eat (and drink) has sugar in it. These women want the sweetness out of food and drink that they are not receiving out of their lives. Remember, sugar denotes or symbolizes love and affection. They may be getting the sex, perhaps of a 'Wham Bam, Thank You Ma'am' nature and routine or in the form of booty calls, but love and compassion? Out of the equation!
And the biggest reason for this (love and compassion being out of the equation) is that these women, despite their success in social life, have many inner problems and demons eating away at their souls and that are not being dealt with. These women don't love themselves when it all boils down to it. Many if not most are insecure, have feelings of abandonment, are trying to cope or forget their past abuse(s), physical and/or sexual, and a host of other things.
Also, many don't really like their jobs that may pay well or good, but are very stressful, stressful as hell! These women feel trapped - trapped in the sense they can't let go of the stressful job because that stressful job is their umbilical cord of their 'successful' life! The stressful job pays the bills: the mortgage or rent, the luxury car note, the credit card bills, utilities, school loans, etc. You know! The debt!
They overeat when it comes to sweets. They are unconsciously attempting to get their 'sugah' from a box of ice cream, some cookies, a slice of pie, a piece of cake, some See's candy chocolates or some other sugar laden product.
Sugar affects the emotions. It's no accident or coincidence that we have emotions that correspond with our taste buds, so salt is salty and we can also feel salty; sugar is sweet and we can feel sweet; just as we can taste sour we can also feel sour; and not only is bitter one of the 5 basic tastes, but we can also feel bitter about things.
Many women eat sweets in the form of pastries, ice cream (cow snot cream), and chocolate to help them compensate for the lack of natural love and affection they are not getting out of life in general, a man in particular; and they drink a glass (or two) of wine daily to help them deal with the stress of their jobs. However, because of the sugar content of both sweets and wine coupled with the sedentary lifestyles of many of these women, it is no wonder that the overwhelming majority of these women end up gaining excess weight. Some outright become obese.
We must remember that sugar converts into fat and fat is stored in the female fatty reserves in the female body and these female fatty reserves include the breasts, belly, buttocks, thighs, and upper back arms. These areas are the predominant areas that women are gaining weight in.
In effect, our nation's obesity problem is linked to sugar consumption, perhaps more so than anything else.
Another metaphysical causation for high sugar consumption rates and addiction is that for most sugar addicts, life simply is not sweet. A lot of people simply are not living the 'sweet life.' Life just isn't sweet for them. So again, we have consumption of sweet foods (food-stuffs) to compensate for the lack.
As the mystic Osho correctly and brilliantly stated: "Love is the greatest nutrient." It truly is! Nothing fills us up like love. Love satisfies every craving. When there is genuine and unconditional love present in the life and emitting from the person, there can be no addiction of any kind - no sex addiction, no food addiction, no shopping addiction, or no substance abuse addiction.
Healing Sugar Addiction Naturally
When we consume sugar, we greatly tax the body because sugar contains 0% nutrition. It has no food value and is thus an empty carbohydrate.
Carbohydrate. /noun/ Biochemistry, any of a large group of organic compounds occurring in foods and living tissues and including sugars, starch, and cellulose. They contain hydrogen and oxygen in the same ratio as water (2:1) and typically can be broken down to release energy in the animal body.
When we consume sugar (especially simple sugars), it greatly taxes the body. The body uses what little stored nutrition may be in our bodies to attempt to process the sugar. In effect, sugar (simple ones and man-made ones) robs our body of nutrition. Sugar robs us of nutrition and leaves none or provides none. Sugar is a leech, a parasite.
Always opt for complex sugars over simple sugars!
To overcome or heal from sugar addiction, the body needs nutrition - minerals, trace elements, vitamins and B-vitamins, amino acids (protein), and essential fatty acids and the best sources of these vita nutrients are live foods, living foods (raw foods), especially fruits and vegetables.
Incorporate more live foods into your daily diet. Drink vegetable juice as much as you can. Vegetable juice is 100% liquid nutrition, especially if the veggies are organic.
If you have a craving for sugar or something sweet, consider something naturally given or provided for in Nature and that has not been refined or processed by man; or if it has been processed by man (into a product) make sure it still contains nutrients for purposes of nutrition.
Here is a list of naturally sweet foods that can suffice a sugar craving:
Raisins
Black currants
Figs
Dates
Most raw fruit: i.e. banana, watermelon, orange, peach, mango, etc.
Dried fruit (unsulfured)
Carob
There are also natural sugar alternatives (natural sweeteners) available today, sweeteners that include maple syrup, agave nectar, carob, and stevia.
My personal choice of best natural sweetener would be maple syrup (grade B or C). Maple syrup contains a moderate amount of nutrients that make maple syrup very beneficial for health purposes. It is because of the nutrients in maple syrup that it is an ingredient in the Master Cleanse which people drink for fasting purposes.
I don't recommend honey as an alternative to sugar because honey is predigested (in the stomach of bees). It is a regurgitated product. It is bee food. Not human food (though humans have and can consume it)!
However, honey (when consumed) goes directly into the bloodstream and can exacerbate certain health problems and conditions. If you are in a situation and have a choice between honey and sugar, honey would be the better choice.
Stevia (Stevia raubadiana), a plant, is 200 times naturally sweeter than sugar and without the adverse side effects of sugar (sucrose, white table sugar). Stevia is a most underrated natural sweetener and I suppose it has a lot to do with the medicinal taste of the plant. Stevia works better in tea compounds and gives herbal teas a naturally sweet taste. This is why I use Stevia in my herbal tea formulations.
Also, I don't like the law that prohibits stevia being used as a food ingredient in processed foods. As usual, a very stupid law, but one that protects the commercial sugar industry. Stevia is far more safe and salubrious than sugar. Sugar doesn't even come close!
Lately, there's been a lot of talk about agave nectar containing corn syrup, so if you use agave nectar, make sure you're getting and using 100%, raw, certified organic agave nectar.
Acceptable sugar alternatives and sweeteners include maple sugar and date syrup and sugar, of course all processed products but superior to white table sugar.
There are also herbs that can assist with naturally kicking the sugar habit. These herbs include Gymnema sylvestre, Stevia, Licorice Root, Cinnamon, Jambul Seed, Bilberry leaf, and Guava Leaf. These herbs are useful for healing problems of obesity and pancreas complaints, i.e. diabetes and hypoglycemia.
Without a doubt the most effective herb for the healing of sugar addiction would have to be the Ayurvedic herb, 'Gymnema sylvestre' (also known as 'Gurmar'), which literally means "Destroyer of Sugar."
"An Ayurvedic herb used to treat diabetes since the 6th century; helps repair damage to the pancreas, increasing its output of insulin to near normal levels. Research shows that gymnema reduces blood sugar levels after sugar consumption. Molecular structure is similar to sugar and can block absorption of up to 50% of dietary sugar calories; both sugar and gymnema are digested in the small intestine, but the larger molecule of gymnema cannot be fully absorbed. Therefore, if taken before sugar, the gymnema molecule blocks the passages through which sugar is normally absorbed, and few sugar calories are assimilated. A person who eats a 400 calorie, high sugar dessert only absorbs 200 of the sugar calories when taking gymnema - the remaining sugar is eliminated as waste." Linda Page, N.D.
Licorice root is an effective herb to help regulate blood sugar levels. It has a mildly natural sweet taste. Jambul seed is effective in reducing the amount of sugar in the urine.
Dherbs.com products that are effective in healing and overcoming sugar addiction (and other disorders) include Full Body Detox, Sugar Buster, Pancreas Auxiliary Formula, and Electric Greens Cell Food.
We also recommend our "Love Manual" e-book which is good reading for dealing with the underlying cause(s) of sugar addiction.
Learn to live and lead 'the Good Life', 'the Sweet Life.' You can have a taste of that good life too, ya know! Well, if you want it bad enough.
Start setting aside days for treating yourself. Eating something sweet used to be referred to as a treat, i.e. sweet treat. Mother used to give you something sweet, i.e. cookie, slice of pie or cake, to reward you for things like a job well done. But today with sweet treats and other junk foods so readily available, people are treating themselves (with sweet treats) every single day despite no accomplishments being in the equation. When you eat something everyday, it no longer becomes a treat. You take it for granted. It may become something eaten habitually, or, it may even become an addiction whereby you just have to have it.
If a glass of wine is your daily hit of something to calm your nerves, replace it with a cup of tea, preferably a nervine tea such as Dherbs.com Nerves Tea. Just give it a try! Nothing beats a failure but an attempt!
Individual nervine teas include Kava Kava, Valerian Root, Lavender flower, Passionflower, Skullcap, Chamomile, and Catnip.
In addition to the tea, give one of our many inspirants a try. Inspirants utilize aromatherapy for therapeutic purposes.
American wines are too toxic! They contain sulphates, formaldehyde (embalming fluid), ether, and a host of other things that do not belong in the temple of God (human body).
If you are foolish enough to smoke commercial cigarettes, know that these things also contain sugar. Yes, cigarette manufacturers put sugar in cigarettes:
"Commercial cigarettes contain unnatural chemicals sugars " Duffy, Williams. Sugar Blues, p. 195
Cigarette manufacturers will put anything into a cigarette as long as it helps keep smokers addicted. This is why cigarettes contain some of the most addictive substances known to man from sugar, alcohol beverages, to nicotine. The objective of the cigarette industry is to get people hooked on their product.
While cigarette companies cannot advertise their toxic product on television anymore, they damn sure still use Hollywood to promote cigarette smoking. Damn near every movie you watch contains a smoking scene. Do the experiment yourself like I do. In 98% of movies I watch, there's a smoking scene in the movie. I truly believe (without having any tangible evidence) that the tobacco industry struck a deal with Hollywood moguls and power brokers to have mandatory smoking scenes in movies to help promote smoking since the cigarette and tobacco industry lost their rights to advertise on television. After all, movies are just as influential as television commercials are.
So if you are dealing with a sugar addiction problem and also smoke, you'll need to give up the unhealthy practice of smoking in order to heal because your beloved cigarette also contains sugar.
In closing, sugar, as sweet as it is, is a drug! A harmful, deceptive, sinister, insidious, toxic drug! Avoid it, if you have the will and inner wherewithal. You'll tremendously benefit by doing this!
