I Exist Before Consciousness

I am aware of my self, so I must be prior to my self.  The self is a thought arising in the Now.

 I only know "Brandon" by going into thoughts, but the Silent Witnessing is there before, during, and after these thoughts.

I'm gonna jump out there and say yes. If EVERYTHING is energy and thoughts themselves are energy, so what's preventing thoughts from becoming aware of themselves. For all we know all of existence is just one elaborate thought or dream........I recently watched Inception

Thoughts are dead things only gaining power by your belief in them. Reject all thoughts and the mind becomes silent. Without thoughts "I" still exist, not as a person, but as no-thing.  Saying thoughts are aware of themselves has no value because I must exist prior to confirm the existence of thoughts. Nothing can exist without me.

How can thoughts be dead when they are made of energy?

Thoughts come and go, but "I" the knower of the thoughts always remain.  That which comes and goes is unreal, therefore dead.

So what use is the mind- besides giving "life" to thoughts?

what then if you think about something- like a decision to make- you're going over pros and cons- only in thought and decide to put it off for a while.  Next week, you come bakc to it-  you are thinking about your previous thoughts-  thoughts thinking about thoughts-    or even in a situation of thinking- "why did that thought even cross my mind"  you are thinking of a thought-  are both thoughts dead- or the thought u are currently "giving life to"  giving life to that other thought...or is that "past thought" still dead-    or in argument in your favor-   is that like the Moon not truely having light, but only through sunlight?
