What is Fate Anyway?

http://www.thedailyawe.com/2011/03/what-is-fate-anyway/I was traveling this past weekend and was gearing up to return home only to find that my flight was delayed by several hours. None too pleased, I settled into the waiting area to gear up for hours of sitting in a stuffy airport. Before I put my headphones in to drown out the sound of someone clipping their fingernails (yes, that actually happened), I overheard some people talking about fate and certain events that had happened in their lives that they were certain were destined to happen. That made me think: what is fate? What is destiny? And do they go hand in hand?
Fate
The era you were born
The body you’re in
The family you were born into
The culture you are a part of
Those are the things you agreed to as part of your soul contract in this lifetime before you were born. All of these things are your fate.
We all signed up for this. Yep, we all said we wanted to be here or we wouldn’t be here; simple as that. But before we embarked on this journey, we drank from the river of forgetfulness and embarked on this journey here on earth to experience a life with unique opportunities, challenges and blessings.
Destiny is:
The attitude you choose to have about the fated elements that make up your life
Choices you make
Your actions
Free will
All of these things are your destiny . Destiny is something that is constantly happening to you based on the actions you take and the decisions you make.
You can’t change fate. You can and do change your destiny. Western ethos tells us everything is limitless and we can do absolutely anything we set our minds to. I happen to think that’s not true. What is true is that you can be anything you want to be within your soul contract with fate and destiny.
Fate is the set of parameters your soul chose and set down before you were born.
Destiny becomes how you work with those parameters and how you live your life based on your potential. It is to express yourself and your purpose in this life in ways that no one but you can do. The world is counting on you to do it.
The destiny we each carry is faced by a question: is it the soul or the ego that is going to run your life? Are you going to live out your destiny for your highest good? For the collective good? You have the choice to decide.
