Am having difficulties in my transition.  Almost every food item I think is a better choice has some form of soy or soy protein in it.  Boca veggie patties, non dairy butter, flaxseed waffles, amy's pizza, I did manage to find almond milk without soy and unsweetnened.

How do you survive vegan lifestyle without soy? I mean which is worse red meat, cow, animal ingredients or soy?

It is easy to be a vegan without soy. I stop consuming soy a while back because it made me sick. I now eat tubers, legumes, grains, fruits.

See the works of Dr. McDougall a vegan doctor. He has lot of good recipes on his site.

When you start preparing most of your own food thats when you know youre really on your way, and thats how soy is avoided IMO the only real way.

You can totally be a vegan without eating soy, Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts, seeds and beans taste perfectly fine without tofu, and you don't even have to go without cheese there are lot's of recipes for makng your own cheese out of almonds or cashews, I've even experimented with using cashew puree in place of tofu for recpies that need cream, like cheesecake, pizza or ranch salad dressing, I"ve also eaten mushrooms in place of meat in certain recipes and it worked out great, if you like bocca burgers make some black bean patties or a lentil loaf, you just have to flex your creative muscles...........

It is so totally possible to be a vegan without soy.  People tend to assume that one who is vegan or vegetarian consumes a lot of soy products.  I did initially in my transition from an omnivore to a vegetarian and then I slowly removed the soy products from my diet, although I do still sometimes eat soy in very small amounts, but very rarely.  I do agree that it is best to learn to make meals from scratch, as many (well... pretty much all) of the transitional foods offered are very processed.  However, with that said, in my humble opinion, it is better to use these foods in transition to a healthier diet and enjoy them than it is to revert back to eating cows.  The problem occurs when we get stuck in eating these transitional foods.
