Four Loko in New York is a new hot commodity. It is a drink that has been banned in New York because it is extremely dangerous. It is a mix of caffeine and alcohol equivalent to approx couple of beers/wine, coffee, and red bull. The problem with this drink is that the body naturally forms a protection against this drink and then the individuals who are drinking it are not aware of how drunk they really are. New York banned it because of the danger and also because the stores that were stocking it were not aware it had alcohol in it- so it was being sold to teenagers under the impression it was like monster/red bull.
Now that it is being banned, people are selling by cases, it's the new black market drink. 1 can is usually 2 dollars, it is now being sold for 8 dollars.
It is crazy that the FDA continues to allow things to be approved and then they do testing and realize things are dangerous. They really need to change the regulations.
I haven't tried it because I don't drink anymore, but I know people who went out to buy it because of all the hype. My sister told me she couldn't even finish it because it tasted like pure sugar.
this is the article I read about the selling of the drink.
