I'm pretty anxious for this upcoming thanksgiving. I've never had a raw vegan thanksgiving and am looking forward to it. Most of my family will be coming to spend thanksgiving with me in BK, they will be eating the traditional foods  Tongue But I'll be bringing home food from a raw restaurant in BK and I'll be making some raw desserts at home.

What's everyone else planning?  Grin

This holiday will be exciting for me as well it will be the first holiday that I will cook vegan food. I found great recipes on vegweb thanks to knix. I cant wait to try out this recipe for vegetarian stuffing. Im also making an orange cranberry sauce, pumpkin pecan pie, mustard greens, stuffed peppers, sweet potatoe biscuits and etc. The amazing thing about vegweb is the reviews of the recipes, each recipe that I chose had plenty of reviews that confirmed that they were great. Im not all that excited about the holiday, its just the joy of providing myself with nourishing vegan meals. I have a large extended family and each time we meet at my grandmother's for the last year I have been picking over their food and it seems they put meat in side dishes such as green beans collard greens baked beans and etc. So Im like dam Im not gone eat the meat so Ill stick with veggies but they overload the veggies with me too. So Im cooking a vegan feast and my house and I will take a plate with me to eat when I attend the family feast. This is just what my life has come too lol.

I'm looking forward to spending time with the fam, not cooking anything, Grandma is still queen of the kitchen.  She will make plenty of non-meat items for me.  I've been really emotional the past few weeks, so really looking forward to being with family, and have good food and good laughs.

My friend and I are driving down to NC to my sis house and having a vegan feast!!

Raw noodles w/ginger sauce
Curry Veggies
Lasagna
Potatoes Au gratin
Spicy rice w/ sweet plantains
raw Cajun kale
Cornbread
Cinnamon rolls
Cupcakes w/raw frosting
Lemon cake
Doughnuts

Note: Flax eggs are the best!!! For NE who doesnt know....If you take 2 tbsp of flax meal and put them in 1/2 cup of warm water then let them sit for about 10 mins, it will have the consistency of eggs. This equals about 2 eggs and you dont really notice the flax meal in the finished dish. You can make a big batch and it keeps in the fridge for 2 wks, i havent tried to make a big batch, but my sis did and they keep fine for her.

Man that sounds like a good feast Ultra.. You should take some pictures for us!

The restaurant I'm going to is Rockin'Raw. I have yet to try RawSoul but I hear it's really good. RawStar I've been to once and they were pretty good, a little pricey for the portions though.

sounds like you are feasting!

for thanksgiving i will be at my grandmothers house. im still undecided how I will eat. i been eating vegetarian/vegan/raw since September(except for when I went to Haiti)- but i am wondering if i should just eat some fish. but another part of me feels like i would just be eating it to eat-- because i actually  dont want fish. i really don't have the craving for an meat at all. more than likely i will just bring some food with me or eat the veggies that are at the house. and for dessert i am sticking to a simple, but loaded fruit salad.

i guess i am just on the fence because of the conditioned notion that thanksgiving = eating a lot. but in actuality i don't eat a lot anymore, so i don't know what to do. well i know what i need to do- just eat the way i been eating.

In this time of change, the weather clock year near a close . I choose to reformat nervous relationships with the 1 or 2 family members I have been avoiding. Let me be the light that over-stands... I fasted 2-3 days before today so I will have some cooked foods namely squash prepared by myself or possible have some otha random goodness prepared by my beloved. We're all gathering at my cousins place, she just so happens to be Christian so there will be a lot of spiritual exhibition afoot, I will go along Grin... Sacrifice leads to bliss, let me be an example of the divine!

peace !
