For years now, I've been sleeping without really resting. Not since my late 20s have I gone deep enough into to sleep that when I awake I feel completely revitalized. I get a deeper sleep and thus rest from a ten minute power nap, reclining in my car, than I do lying flat in the bed for 7 hours or more.

In fact, in my car, I fall asleep faster. The only thing that wakes me up is the alarm on my cell phone, otherwise I would be dead to the world until my body woke up me, naturally.

About 3 months ago, my daughter was trying to wake me up but couldn't. She told me she was shaking me and calling my name out loud but to no avail; you would think that I was really in a deep, restful sleep. Not so. When I woke the following morning I was still not completely rested.

I thought about this and I've come up with the following reasons why I may not be resting when I sleep:

1. I'm dreaming too much.
2. My body rests better on an angle (ala the 10 minute nap in the car).
3. I need to be doing something else with my days, for which the universe will then grant me adequate rest.
4. I need a Sleep-Number bed.
5. I need to sleep in my lounger.

I have no idea what your life style is like, but I would suggest eating nothing but raw fruits and vegetables only for a few days and if eating cooked foods then shorten the habit of eating cooked foods. No meats!!

your body may be working hard on other organs and using all the prana(chi) absorbed during sleep on the digestive track and or liver. Try sleeping on an empty stomach, that means no food or water before bed, and make your last meal some juicy fruits. Breakfast (breaking a fast) we break the fast because the sleep function in our bodies are naturally a state of fasting and clearing junk out, if food is in the digestive track, the body will work hard to create acid and use it's power by working the digestive muscles... this uses up a lot of energy we could use for the next day.

Make sure your getting enough oxygen and take different herbs and supplements that help with circulation such as cayenne as it helps to move new chi through the meridians... do this after walking barefooted or sun gazing every morning. It should move Chi/prana/life force through the body esp. to the organs that need it the most. While walking barefooted and sun gazing give all your problems and issues to the goddess within earth to cleanse, and send back to you, imagine universal prana coming down into your head(crown chakra) to push the junk out as well and as a give to the earth goddess for supporting her children.

There may be many emotional causes, you may be somewhat tired of everyday life or tired of the same patterns, if so change up and do something new and exciting... go to a new side of town or out of town, give birth to a new self. Remove the fear of losing and install the love of gaining and living.
