Peace Fam,

I'm in the planning stages of an after school enrichment and empowerment program that will soon grow into a school. I've already peeked into 360's old thread (and a few others:) for curriculum ideas and such.

I'm not the type to want to be fully entrenched in the system, but the more I research, it's looking like that's the only way to go about things; especially when dealing with a certain amount of children--transport included.

Is there a way to bring my dream to fruition "off the grid"? Or should I buckle down and get the 'required' lisences, certifications, etc? Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!

I have an after school 'rites goal of passage' program for males. I've had it for 6 yrs. My goal is to transform it into a school. I would suggest to use the system because unless you are an expert in being 'sovereign' and have enuff cash to sustain for a period of yrs. Figure out if u are going to be a non-profit or for profit organization ( I suggest non-profit). The biggest obstacle is MONEY. figure that out 1st and then come up with a business plan as to how you are going to operate. I would love to assist in anyway possible. I know about getting charters and filing for non-profits. You will have to start a board and get competent people to assist u in your efforts. Send me an email and I'll give u my number.

Wow, regkam! That's what's up. Yeah, I've pretty much determined to do things 'their' way.  Roll Eyes   Cool

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the not for profit structure because of all it entails. To me, it looks like too many hands in the pot. And if you fund me, you run me...nah. That is, unless I've got it all wrong. Why do you recommend not for profit?

I'm full of many, many more questions, so definitely look out for a message from me.

Thanks again!  Grin

can I get in on some of this knowledge as well regkam?....as far as non profit, i'm really not interested in this route as well, most times I feel like the energy of the movement/organization will attract funds into the organization, but i'm still a lil on the fence.  This whole non profit thing is funny, the funders usually are a straight contradiction to the organizations that they are funding, the coca cola foundation has grants in support of nutritional education programs (big money too).Lips Sealed...
