@Soul Beautiful: I don't mean to chuckle, but if it's a he as you say they don't go into heat. But he sure smells the girls around that are

Yeah we don't put are dogs on chains either. That is not they way for them, although I understand why some do. We have been fortunate enough to live in the country and there is space between neighbors. They usually stay around our property also. Maybe once or twice a year my male travels also. But we seem to always know where to find him.
Keeping this thread bookmarked might be helpful to those who want to know more, or come into a situation. Just Sunday night might daughter had kids (goats) and we weren't home my husband was babysitting. Well he did not make sure that both of them were feeding, when he called it the night. And when my daughter and I got home on Monday, one of them was not doing well. So I had to go into action again! This time we had to get electrolytes in him, get his body up to temperature (if their temperature is not between 101-103, they can not suckle). We are having a heck of a time, I was up every two hours last night (of course he is inside with me, I am not going all the way out in the middle of the night), I had to do my first tube feeding, I was nervous, cause you have to make sure it does not go into the lungs. But YAY! I did it and his temperature is up, but still not suckling. I am going to try a new treatment that I am learning called the Tellington TTouch. Basically, by using touch you can reprogram an animal to learn something. I will let you all know how it goes!
