Date sugar or dates are good for sweetening stuff.  I use dates in smoothies and sometimes date sugar for baking when i want.

Maple Syrup Grade B I use sometimes for vegan pancakes I make once in a while.

Stevia is best for smoothies also(the green leaf powder).  Best of all is it is not actually a sugar but is sweet like it to due to this part of the plant called Rebaudioside and stevioside.

Palm sugar is another good alternative.

Right now I'm using Rapunzel Organic whole cane sugar.  It has brown, coarse sugar crystals with a hint of molasses when you taste it.

Avoid Agave nectar as I heard it is as dangerous as HFCS despite it being a so called 'health food'.

I have been using Agave and Maple Syrup B.  I haven't tried Stevia yet but will soon.

Michel, what is HFCS?

HFCS is high fructose corn syrup. Michel what is it about agave nectar that makes it as dangerous as HFCS?
