This is why groups are not productive in this climate. Lone wolves are more difficult to detect. They can become needles in haystacks.

I agree with 8-Ball here, and follow-up by saying the bigger the group, the higher the likelihood for problems.

The problem with groups is the danger of creating what I call "intellectual incest" as well as "groupthink". People who become addicted to groups come with issues that cannot be addressed because the needs of the group do not allow people to address their individual needs.

Damn Straight!!!

To add on here, there is a specific reason that the needs of the group don't allow for individuals to TRULY address their needs.  This needs to have all kinds of spotlights on it.

The reason is because the more people REALLY address their individual needs, the more free they become to live and operate independently of the group, and the more the people move toward the direction of personal autonomy and sovereignty.  This causes folks to become more in tune with the desires of the heart, which usually conflict with group aims and objectives.

Many people have a psychological and emotional reliance on the group - for states of mind and well being, that in reality are best addressed when people deal with and heal themselves.

I guess working interdependently is what works or working individually towards a common collective goal.

The only way that groups are effective is if the people seeking to join are bringing value to the table. Many want to only extract from the group. If people were healthy and want to join, that's one thing. I think until people are healthy and whole, they will only infect the group with their neediness.

This is probably the best analysis I have heard in a while of groups.  Exact on point!  This has always been my experience in groups, a bunch of poor dumb asses, running their mouths on petty issues (typically religious) when the individuals have more pressing economic, spiritual, pyschological problems going on.
