When somebody passes, the usually term people use in remembrance is R.I.P., or Rest In Peace. As my mind and outlook on life continues to evolve, I have come to look at physical death differently and am questioning how accurate R.I.P. is in regards to people who have moved on. That phrase seems to imply that one has finished and is resting, whereas I see at as moving on to something new.

This came to mind because a member of another board I frequent passed and as I was about to post the customary R.I.P., it didn't seem to fit anymore.

i wonder this also.

r.i.p should instead be remembrance in peace/people.

Instead of writing r.i.p. you can write a simple line or two in remembrance. wishing their soul a safe journey into the next plane and know that you will cross paths again.

T.I.P. (Transition In Peace). After all, death is only a transition!

Muslims use PBUH (Peace Be Upon Him/Her).
