An unidentified 15-year-old girl reportedly revealed to investigators involved with the case that her motive behind killing an innocent 9-year-old girl was that she wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone. According to Chron.com, the unidentified teenager, who was referred to in court as ‘Alyssa’ by her attorney, will be tried as an adult. The discovery of the unidentified teenager’s motive was unveiled by Highway Patrol Sergeant David Rice who testified in court on Wednesday morning.

The body of the 9-year-old girl that was allegedly murdered was discovered by authorities after the lone suspect in the case led them to her body after she had been interrogated. Alyssa admitted to authorities that she dug two separate holes prior to murdering 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten, which was a sign that her crime was premeditated. Specific details surrounding Olten’s murder have not been revealed in terms of how she was killed and why Alyssa chose to select her as her victim.

Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetum ultimately decided to have Alyssa tried as an adult due to the graphically violent and vicious nature of Olten’s murder as well as the fact that he believes there are no juvenile facilities or services that could properly treat the unidentified suspect, according to Chron.com.
