Bro, the DHS has no power or authority to wipe out hundreds of years of discipline practices by African-Americans who have a history of giving spankings with wooden objects, belts, switches (from trees), shoes, etc. that kept Black youth in check.
The one object I am opposed to in disciplining is iron extension cords. Those things do some serious damage and I remember how my cousin Bridgett used to get whipped with an extension cord.
It's funny how Blacks are no longer disciplining their children like they used to in the 1970s, 1960s, 1950s and beyond yet crime amongst Black youth has skyrocketed. It's ironic that Black youth are the number one prospects of the criminal prison industrial complex during a time when Blacks don't discipline or afraid to discipline like they used to, perhaps out of fear of the DHS and charges of abuse.
My father used tell his children before whipping us that either he could beat our ass or the white man (System) could beat our ass. Pops used to say I'm going to beat your ass to prevent you from breaking the white man's law where and if he catches you acting an ass he's going to beat your ass and unlike me who will stop because I love you, when the white man beats your ass he ain't going to stop because he don't love you. My siblings and I never got into serious trouble or went to jail like the majority of folks/youth in our neighborhood. I credit the discipline of my father and just having an active father on the scene.
It's funny how government says you can't beat a child's ass but the police can and does beat Black children's ass and even KILLS them almost daily in Black communities across America.
The Fourteenth Amendment protects a parent's right to discipline their child(ren):
The following are ?¨parental rights?Æ protected to varying degrees by constitution: (1) physical possession of child, which, in case of custodial parent, includes day-to-day care and companionship of child; (2) right to discipline child, which includes right to inculcate in child parent??s moral and ethical standards; (3) right to control and manage minor child??s earnings; (4) right to control and manage minor child??s property; (5) right to be supported by adult child; (6) right to have child bear parent??s name; (7) and right to prevent adoption of child without parent??s consent. L.A.M. v. State, Alaska, 547 P.2d 827, 835
And who are we to listen to, the Bible that Europeans forced down our throats during slavery or DHS? Blacks folks are loyal Christians thanks to their former slave-masters and what does the Bible tell Black folks in regards to rearing their youth:
"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs 29:15, Holy Bible
"Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul." Proverbs 29:17, Holy Bible
"Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying." Proverbs 19:18, Holy Bible
"Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." Proverbs 22:15, Holy Bible
"Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." Proverbs 23:13, Holy Bible
"Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." Proverbs 23:14, Holy Bible
Yet, since most people gave their child(ren) over to the state from day one with the birth certificate and social security card, the state and federal government owns the child(ren) anyways and therefore can determine how to discipline its product that you call "your" child. YOUR child belongs to the government, legally-speaking, because the mother turned the child(ren) over to the government and now the government can regulate the child(ren) and legal guardian via Parens Patrae (The State as father).
Peace!
