Have any of you tried that lil herb shop/vegetarian restaurant downtown Newark?  I forgot the name of it, but it's across the street from VIM and that black book store (btw this is a really great bookstore if you know where i am referring to).  I randomly stopped in to check out the herbs and I noticed that they had a veg. bar in the back, I didn't try the food but I was just amazed that I found a veg spot in Newark.

I wish I would have known that I woulda stopped there for lunch. What I did see is two chicks throwing down on the corner up the block from VIM the corner by the payless then I was reminded why I don't like going there.

Good to know that theres one there. NY has all the spots

Closest ones to me are namaste in new brunswick and makeda's which is ethiopian food, not all vegan/vegetarian but goddamn injeera with buticha spread yum lol

lol, sunshine & beat downs...Is Makeda's in New Brunswick too? Ethiopian Food!!!! Grin Grin

Coolbg mentioned something to me about Veggie Heaven in Montclair, I 've heard that was pretty good.  But, yes, for some really good veg eats i'd strongly suggest hitting the city.

Oh really???  I live in Newark and is familiar with the bookstore.  The last time I've visited the bookstore I wasn't impressed because he carried a lot of urban novels there wasn't much of a selection of books that "feeds the mind, body and soul".  Just my opinion

I been there a couple of times.  They make some filling vegan wraps and sandwiches, juices and they sell a lot of herbs in there.  I haven't been there in a while though.

I know where you are talking about. It is on Broad Street, no too far from Market , right across from some government building. I used to go there a lot to buy my faux meats when I was a Morningstar freak. They do serve some good food in the back.
