If you decide to do it yourself. Research the Credit Act which governs your situation. Most agencies deal with creditors simple because they know the rules and most holders of these notes sell them. It is not uncommon to write to these creditors and negotiate your own deal. I would try one account first before paying someone to do it for you.
Also take a look at your credit report to make sure everything is accurate. November is a very busy time for credit reporting agencies
and you should dispute anything that is not yours during this time. they have a time limit ( bylaw) and it works to the consumers advantage during this month.
Mr Creditor,
I confirm that I have received a written communication from you dated September 29, 2009 wherein you make reference to the above captioned matter.
Accordingly, it is not now nor has it ever been my intention to avoid paying any obligation I may lawfully owe.
I conditionally accept your claim upon proof and clarification of my questions infra.
Just negotiate what you want to pay in the body of the letter. You want to know upon payment they will close the account and remove from you credit report (remove within 15 days of payment). If they put it in writing complete the rest of the accounts using same process.
( there should be a penalty if they do not fulfill the agreement.)
Sincerely,
DHerbs Debt Holder (ha,ha)
