The culture of hip-hop still lives. The more authentic hip-hop has gone global.

What people are pissed about is shit-hop, which is dominating the airwaves. Hip-hop has just been driven underground. The b-boy, DJ, emcee and graffiti artist are now "occultists" that are practicing in some form of secrecy to keep things alive.

I think hip-hop still lives but I think it's out of balance. Back in the day you had a good mix of stuff. Now the stuff you hear on the radio is more pop and R.B than hip-hop. Funny people make fun of soldier boy(including myself) but we forget about songs like humpty witch is the jam!

Is it?

Depends on what you consider to be Hip Hop...

On camercial Radio, yes cause the music is given to you whether you want to listen or not. And in some cases that's what people want to hear anyway. This is just my oppinion. When I'm waiting for the city  bus I'm able to hear what people are playing in their cars and a great deal of it is the same music that's played on the radeo.

As far as underground hip hop it's here and alive you just have to look for it and in some cases it will come to you. But as far as it being a house hold name, to me, it's personal choice.

Peace!
