Here is a list of 10 books that every aspiring and existing entrepreneur and wealth attractor/creator must read and have in their library:
1. THINK & GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill 2. RICH DAD POOR DAD by Robert T. Kiyosaki 3. GUERRILLA MARKETING by Jay Conrad Levinson 4. THE E-MYTH REVISITED by Michael Gerber 5. INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP by Peter Drucker 6. PSYCHO-CYBERNETICS by Maxwell Maltz, MD 7. THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON by George S. Clason 8. THE BARON SON by William R. Patterson, et.al. 9. THE MILLIONAIRE MAKER by Loral Langemeier 10. AUTOMATIC WEALTH by Michael Mastersen
I will re-read some of these books as I move further into entrepreneurship. The knowledge has a different meaning after you grow and go through some things.
The one book that should hit home with black-owned businesses is THE E-MYTH REVISITED. Gerber states that the entrepreneur should seek a system-based solution to a human problem. Too many black businesses fail because they rely on people as opposed to systems. That's why most never evolve beyond a mom-and-pop level. Plus, that's why we take the lazy route and choose areas of retail and service that don't produce opportunities for others.
The other is AUTOMATIC WEALTH. Mastersen states that one can achieve financial independence within a 7-15 year period. In his six steps, he focuses on RADICALLY increasing your personal income. You can't solve a million-dollar problem with a $50,000 job. I view a job like aspirin: It's temporary relief from poverty for a week or two. However, it never solves the problem of how to achieve financial independence. That's why people like Suze Orman, David Bach and Dave Ramsey are still pushing Industrial Age ideas about finances that don't work in this era. They never speak of how to radically increase personal income. They always talk about the "latte factor", and I don't drink coffee!
I'm sure there are more books to add, but I think this list is a "foundation" for people seeking to create financial independence.
I think that book is in my reading list for black MBA candidates. However, I felt I got more from his second book WHAT MAKES THE GREAT GREAT, which I read in '98. I couldn't put it down.
Also, Herbert Harris THE 12 UNIVERSAL LAWS OF SUCCESS is a great read. The author is the only man who passed the New York state bar WITHOUT attending law school.
Part of an entrepreneur's success is his or her commitment to lifelong learning. Class is ALWAYS in session for the entrepreneur. That's why mentorship/apprenticeships are critical to the success of thew entrepreneur.
One thing that helped me was reading bios of great titans of business and their respective journeys to success.
Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice by Dennis Kimbro and Napoleon Hill is a great read!
I am reading that book now, and I co-sign!

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle. ~John Quincy Adams~

Hey M. 8-Ball which version of "The Millionaire maker" or just read all.
I would start with RICH DAD and THE E-MYTH REVISITED first. These two will set the foundation for how to think about money and business and understand the importance of system-oriented solutions to business problems.
