Hello Everyone,

I am turning 30 soon and am nowhere near ready to have a baby! I keep hearing these things about older women facing risk or birth defects. I am wondering though if this has a lot to do with women being in poor health and following the standard american diet. Also I was wondering if there are things I can do to reduce the risk of birth defects when I am finally ready for a baby.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm thinking it has a lot to do with health before conceiving, on the part of the mother and father. I turned 30 last year and like you am in NO rush for children. I never really bought into the whole birth defects thing at a certain age.

I think it's important to be healthy now, make sure once you are ready that you are feeding yourself proper nutrients and eating healthy foods, staying away from a lot of chemicals, and just living a positive wholistic lifestyle in general (as well as your mate or future mate). For some regular detoxes or cleanses may help as well.

Just a couple of thoughts, I'm sure other will chime in with other ideas  Smiley

My sister just had a beautiful baby girl and she's turning 34 this year. Dont concern yourself with possible birth defects. If the time comes when you want children, just prepare your body to have them. The human body isnt limited to what it can do based on age. It's a miraculous piece of work. Just focus on having a healthy and bright baby and the universe will take care of the rest.

My mother had me when she was 31 and my baby sister when she was 35 and had no complications, but the world was probably a lot less toxic back then, I think you have to take any advice from the mainstream medical establishment with a grain of salt.
