Hi dherb bloggers. Have any of you heard about this artist titled above? If you haven't, then maybe the name Terence Trent D'Arby rings a bell, maybe it doesn't. He legally changed his name in 2001 and now resides in Milan, Italy but was born in Manhattan, NY. He is known for his hits such as Wishing Well and Sign Your Name. He won a Grammy award off of his first album Introducing The Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby. He's very versatile. Has a great voice that is liken to Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson. He also is a multi-instrumentalist and produces his own albums. His lyrics are very poetic. He also until recent times had the stage presence of James Brown. Is it possibly because of his versatility (playing and combining rock,r&b, funk, soul), his self indulgence and musical ambitions that he fell out of favor although personally I find his works significant in Black music history. In many circles, he is considered to be the starter of the Neo-Soul movment. I will tell you that he is very underrated and be warned that at times his music is not always easy to listen to. So far he has released 6 albums alongside with another one in the works at his website sanandamaitreya.com.
