i was with my friend who ive had up and downs withonce i realised i was in space, i freaked, took a deep breathe and realised i could breath
but when i looked at my friend, she was drifting away from me
so i had to pull a micheal phelps and swim  back to her
o got to her and held her close
then i found myself breaking into our old highschool
and we went to the swimming pool and swam, laughed a bunch and then i awoke

I got this from: Dream Dictionary: An A to Z Guide to Understanding Your Unconcious Mind by Tony Crisp

Space- (person or yourself in space) Depending on dream, it may suggest feeling out of touch with other people; introverted b/c of feeling ill-at-ease with oneself; awareness of transcendent life beyond the boundaries of the physical senses; expanded awareness.

Floating- often appears in dreams where the dreamer is getting close to someone of the opposite six and some aspect of sexual feeling is present; and experience of awareness expanding beyond the usual boundaries of the person's beliefs or of their physical senses.

Friend- your feelings about the friend

School- The learning proces; what we learned at school-not lessons, but interrelationships, class structure, competitiveness, authority, mortification, group preferences ec; habits of behavior or feeling reactions developed during those years--puberty occurs at this time and confronts us with many new feelings, choices, and drives...

Breathing in- taking in something; absorbing an influence; absorbing life
or Suffocating- Usually to do with a sense that the external environment, or one's inner attitudes or fears, are threatening to kill one's pleasure in living, feeling imprisoned by another person's will or emotional pressure and demands; there may be a connection with some sleep problems

Holding: There are 5 aspects to holding. One: to control as in  controlling or "holding one's breath"; to be able to manipulate, kill or do something with what's held; this ncludes holding ono to something for support or protection. Two- ownership- this is mine to share or not. Three- in touch with; knowing; having a "grasp" of. Four- responsibility; left holding the baby; one's situation. Five- intimacy; taking to oneself, taking hold of oneself, holding an opinion or grudge.

Swimming- Confidence in dealing with the impacts, anxieties, or emotions that cause some people to "go under" either in relationships or something like running a family or business; being able to meet the many influences, urges, and thoughts in which we exist; expressive motivation; trusting oneself, life and our sexuality. There is an element of personal survival in swimming.
Swimming with other people- sharing common feelings, goals, etc; connections with others

Laugh-release of tension; attempt to put others at eas; ridiculing or feeling embarassed by some aspect of self; taking things lightly; attempt to hide the truth; sometimes much laughter can hide tears or sadness.

Not sure how to put it all together, just looked up some keywords for you. I couldn't find one for the burglary, if I do later, I will post or maybe someone else knows.

You are in the 'dark' about what direction your friendship is heading. Since you were in space, you were in an area that is unknown to you, thats why you were nervous. But once you realized you could breathe, thats like you are now becoming aware of your situation and understanding your relationship. your friend on the other hand is drifting away and you dont want to let her go, that is why you went out your way to rescue her. You are the one in the relationship that needs her(security), she doesnt need you as much(only as her rescuer) . You held her close, because she proves security. When you found your self in the pool in your high school it was like thats the time period you two were both the happiest and were on the same plane. You want the friendship to return to that playful, light, relationship that you had when you were younger.

Maybe your friend is having difficulties in her life currently. you should call her and give her the security and balance that your friendship used to have and help her in her time of need. after that, maybe you should reevaluate the relationship. is this a friend that you need? are you just friends because you were friends in hs? or are you true friends? should true friendship make you struggle/nervous to make it work? is it time to move on... and just cherish the good times that you had?

Thats how i interpreted the dream. But only you know in your heart what the situation is and you have to apply the past and present and see how it relates to the dream.
