I was doing so well, it had been like a week since I had cheese. I didn't buy any cheese when I went to Tradder Joes
which was a very big deal, cause I'll buy 6 different kinds and eat it with every meal and snack, ummmmm cheese
is  soooo bangin especially on salads. But I went out to eat and after a glass of wine my resistance was low and I gave
into my cheese weakness. Oh well I can try again Monday.

Just try eating some vegan cheese.  There really isn't that much vegan cheese like one you eat right out the package but the cheese "Follow Your heart:Vegan Gourmet" cheeses taste pretty good for a cheese alternative.  Dairy products weren't that hard for me to transition as some of the replacements were delicious after I had them.  I for some reason isn't too fond of almond milk for some reason but I love some Rice Milk or Hemp milk.

After a while of eating salads every night
And fruit every morning
and shakes
and stuff
(self control, discipline, and maturity required, which I learned in marching band)
I found cheese to be repulsive because it began to smell like doo doo
I guess some of my sense were heightend by some of the herbs I have been taking.

I also think that because my breath smelled everyday (even though Me nor anybody else ever realized it)
I just got used to the funk
but when I started eating purer things the funk became apparent and the stench has been unbearable ever since.

SYKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheese is irresistible

To leave certain foods alone you have to be forced, because if you are away from them for to long you will suffer from withdrawal, because foods have become emotional drugs.

Some people have extreme discipline focus maturity and self control and will power.

I have that to some extent but only when I absolutely want to.
And cheese is one of those things I want to quit but at the same time don't want to quit
so I feel you.

It is easy to take your mind off of cheese with a big salad though!!!!!

I just load some gaucamole on a salad and cheese is the last thing from my mind.

At one point when I had money, and could afford eating raw and staying healthy, I did start to smell the doo doo in the cheese. but then I got in a financial rut and haven't been out of it since.
So even though I stay away from cheese it doesn't smell like dookey anymore.

Also just think about all the degenerate effects that this stuff has on your being.

when all of this fails.

Freak out and focus your mind on the image of cheese while slowly but surely becoming aware of every single detail.
Then turn it in your mind to a detestable mound of what it is (snot/mucous/pus, doo doo, urine, milk, hormones, steroids, ect.)

If this still don't work

just come off of cheese slowly

this is the easiest way

decrease your intake of cheese more and more over a set period of time.

I stay away from cheese because every time i eat it, i get sick and my breath stink and i get gassy, and i feel guilty because it is not good for any body (me the cow, ect.)

cheese only taste good if you feel a certain way about eating it.

If i shocked you everytime I gave you some cheese t might not taste good.

But if everybody got exited when the pizza came then cheese taste like excitement?HuhHuh?

just a theory.

you say you were off a whole week?

well this is a good start do this again?

take in less and less.

just a thought.

Peace sister,

Maybe you should try going out and trying some new recipes? I am sure that if you are satisfied with a good meal and drink (like you said good food and wine), then you won't even take the time to think about some cheese (yellow doo doo baby!!). Also if you experiment right and use your improv and creativity, you could put together some ingredients that may taste like cheese or be a good replacer. But I think that doesn't help because it still has the mental attachment as you are still trying to make something that looks and tastes like cheese. Advice that was given to me for anything that was hard to stop eating was to go out and try some new vegan meals and see what you like. Go get you a vegan cookbook and try some recipes. Like others said, the detox and healthy eating really does open the senses up and things will began to taste different.

If you really think you need to go far on a mental level, try some visualization and affirmations. Visualize the whole process of the making of the cheese in your minds eye and imagine how repulsive it may be. Then write some affrimations telling yourself that you do not need cheese, etc. Recite those, all that together, you will do more than loose some "habit" of eating cheese. Remember you are the head honcho, not your taste buds. You decide wasup in the end!!!

i don't see the recipe nay-nay said she would post so i'll post one i have...

the following was found on www.soulvegfolk.com

Vegan Mac and Cheese

4 qts water
1 TBL sea salt
8 oz macaroni (brown rice)
2 TBL shallots
1 cup red or yellow potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup carrots
1/3 cup onion, peeled and chopped
1 cup water
1/4 cup cashews
2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp garlic
1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
1 TBL lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1/4 tsp black pepper (or white pepper)
1/4 tsp cayenne

1. cook the macaroni in the 4 qts of water until al dente

2. Mix breadcrumbs with 2 TBL margarine if you will be using them (i don't use bread crumbs in mines so i don't recall how much it'd require if you decided to use them. you could always check the site though)

3. Preheat oven to 350. In a saucepan, add shallots, potatoes, carrots, onion, and water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 mins, or until veggies are very soft

4. In a blender, process the cashews, salt, garlic, 1/3 cup margarine, mustard, lemon juice, black pepper (or white) and cayenne. Then, add softened veggies and cooking water to blender with these. Process all until perfectly smooth. It will look like that questionable Velveeta cheese we used to eat.

5. In a large bowl, toss the cooked pasta and blended "cheese" sauce until completely coated. Spread mixture into a 9x12 casserole dish. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese sauce is bubbling and the top has turned golden brown.

the above is the best veg/nut/cheese recipe i've found so far. i have yet to taste a store bought vegcheese that doesn't taste funky and doesn't have some trace of milk protein in it.

eta: i just realized that i don't even use any margarine when i make this. so that explains why it's missing from the ingredient list but appears in the preparation. i just use some safflower oil. it works just as well.

Ezkeel, honestly, i don't think any cheese substitute will ever taste like the real thing. the recipe provided is just something tasty to assist folks in transitioning.

A little late on this post but.....

Just keep moving forward if that's one thing you're trying to eliminate from your diet. Don't worry about messing up.

I haven't tried any of the cheese substitutes yet (despite how I used to love cheese). I do however sprinkle nutritional yeast (different from baking or brewer's yeast) and sea salt on my popcorn with some olive oil and it has a taste very similar to cheese popcorn, if not better. I even make it for my friends who are not vegan and they LOVE it!

Yeah!.....nutritional yeast is tha bomb!! i just tried some from whole foods like last week, and boy oh boy!!!!!!!
i made vegan lasagna (which was okay), and the recipe called for some nutritional yeast.......i was initially wary, but now i'm in love!
gonna use it tonight to make vegan enchiladas
it's a must try!!
i think i will try it on some popcorn.........sounds good!  i haven't had popcorn in years, though

i melted some (nutritional yeast) with vegan cream cheese, a little fresh crushed black pepper and a pinch of sea salt...................uuuuuummmmmm  yummy!    i think i might use this as a base for mac n "cheese"  ?!?!?!

Yea there is a multitude of "cheese" recipes and NY is mostly in em.  I don't really crave cheese that much, I just sometimes be in the mood to eat something "cheesy".
