You have to understand these two words: conscience and consciousness.

Consciousness is yours.

Conscience is given by the society, it is an imposition over your consciousness.

Different societies impose different ideas over your consciousness, but they all impose something or other. And once something is imposed over your consciousness, you cannot hear it; it is far away. Between your consciousness and you stands a thick wall of conscience that the society has imposed on you from your very childhood. ?± Osho
