HERBS. There are many herbs that can help naturally boost the immune system during the so-called common cold. Echinacea root, Goldenseal root, Astragalus, Ginseng root (all variations), Suma, Elder berry, and Licorice root are exceptional herbs to boost and strengthen immunity or defense.

VITAMIN C. Vitamin C (from plant sources) also helps to overcome a “cold.” Natural sources of Vitamin C include Hibiscus flower, Elder berry, Acerola cherry, Rose Hips, Indian Gooseberry (Amalaki), Cayenne fruit, Camu fruit, and Grape seed extract.

You would be wise to avoid Vitamin C derived from ascorbic acid, which is a chemical. This chemical pollutes and taxes the liver which is why you may of heard allegations that Vitamin C causes hepatitis, jaundice, or other liver ailments. Vitamin C from natural sources does not impair the liver, only Vitamin C derived from chemicals such as ascorbic acid.
