Why Some Vegans Are Sickly and Unhealthy

A question but also an argument I get from time to time from meat eaters is: why are some vegans sickly and unhealthy? And you know, it's really a good question. It really is!

But of course, there's an answer to the question. While most true and committed vegans who are astute pertaining to human health, diet, and nutrition are generally healthy, some vegans are actually sickly and unhealthy and it really boils down to one thing: IGNORANCE! Ignorance about or pertaining to nutrition!

You see, vegan only means a diet that is free of animals (flesh and byproducts including excreta, also known as dairy products or liquid meat), it doesn't automatically equate to a diet that is nutrition-rich or nutritionally rich.

If we're talking health, we're talking NUTRITION! Some vegans stop at not eating (and wearing) animals and their by-products, but consume nutritionally void vegan products. Just because you stop consuming animals and animal byproducts doesn't mean you're getting nutrition.

Just because a thing (food) doesn't contain animal or animal byproduct doesn't mean it's nutritious. A lot of vegan products, or should I say most vegan products, are commercially processed and this means they are nutritionally void. These processed vegan items lack necessary nutrients:

minerals, trace elements, vitamins and B-vitamins, enzymes, etc.

Yes, they are free of animals and animal byproducts, which I deem to be a good thing (being one who advocates compassion for animals and all sentient beings), but they lack nutrition. Remember, as humans, we are really supposed to be eating for the sake and purpose of nutrition: acquiring nutrients so as to fuel the magnificent human body and Temple of God.

We eat food to acquire much needed and necessary nutrients so as to provide fuel (energy) for the human body in addition to helping to maintain and sustain the human body and also to help the body repair itself. This is the true and primary purpose of eating or consuming food (and beverage).

Those particular vegans who are consuming processed vegan foods only and are not focusing on nutrition are doing a great harm and disservice to themselves. They end up deficient in vital nutrients and as a consequence, suffer. Some look lethargic, anorexic, pale, sullen and gloomy. They may experience white spots in their fingernails (a sign of iron deficiency), their lips and mouth may be dry (mineral deficiency, especially zinc deficiency); they may lack glow and vibrancy (that many vegans have), they may experience dizziness and a host of other things associated with nutritional deficiency.

It's one thing to be skinny, slim, thin or lean, and another to be skinny, slim, thin or lean and looking all pale, weak, lethargic, sullen, and gloomy.

There's plenty of junk food one could eat that is vegan in nature, but that doesn't mean eating it is healthy or good for you. You could eat a bag of potato chips and drink a soda pop and that would be considered vegan (unless the chips contained mono di-glycerides, a pig or pork derivative), but of course you'd derive absolutely no nutrition from consuming such.

At Dherbs.com, we promote a balanced vegan diet that consists of vegan foods (and beverages), perhaps 50-75% raw foods and 30-50% processed and supplemented or enhanced with herbaceuticals (herbs).

The diet should also consist of consuming plenty of good, freshly squeezed or juiced fruit juice and vegetable juice.

While fruits also contain nutrition, fruits are very cleansing, especially of the blood. And while vegetables too are also nutrition-filled, they very building on the body.

So fruits cleanse and purify and vegetables rebuild. This is why drinking fruit and vegetable juice while detoxing enhances the detoxing experiencing, especially our Full Body Detox.

So, if a vegan eats a wholistic and balanced vegan diet (that consists of consuming plenty of raw foods), drinks good water (i.e. alkaline water, especially from an alkaline water machine such as Kangen, Jupiter, Tyent, etc.), supplements with herbs and other nutritional products, exercise (strenuous or subtle), keep a positive mental attitude and positive outlook on life, he or she will be just fine in life.

And yes, usually when folks become or convert to the vegan diet and lifestyle, weight reduction is a given, and that's because weight loss, weight release, or weight reduction is really waste loss, waste release, and waste reduction.

You see, our bodies tend to hold on to cooked and processed foods (like meat and dairy) because dead foods are difficult for the body to process and eliminate. Absent enzymes to promote and/or stimulate peristalsis (bowel movement), what we eat stays in our colon and begins to rot and putrefy. It becomes waste matter or material that we hold on to and externally call weight, as in 'gaining weight.' But in reality it's called holding on to waste.

So when you change your diet for the better and start consuming things that have life (enzymes) in them, contains nutrition (minerals, trace elements, vitamins, B-vitamins, amino acids, etc.), are cleansing in effect (i.e. fruits and vegetables), are alkaline, etc., a natural cleansing effect of sorts naturally takes place and you begin to eliminate waste (weight).

It's really not a bad thing to release waste (weight) unless you want to be thick or packing in certain areas (i.e. buttocks, thighs, hips, chest/breasts, muscles or biceps) for personal reasons. This may be a concern of people who are concerned about how they look to others in society or who want attention.

Many people are only concerned about their outward appearance and totally neglect their inner state of health (what others cannot see except for what is manifested outwardly, like the state of the blood which manifests through the skin). This is being linear or one-dimensional. We have two basic states of health: inner health and outer health. Both must be shown attention to and both must be maintained and sustained.

One of the best ways to improve your health is to intelligently modify what you consume and cutting down on, or giving up altogether, animal flesh and byproducts which is a major step in the direction of improving your health and well-being.
