There's one major reason why domestic animals (pets, companion animals) are so sick today and that's because they are domesticated which means they live with human beings who are sick and unhealthy people;  and because human beings are their masters, these innocent animals are also sick and unhealthy.
Being truthful and just keeping things real here, dogs are basically slaves to their human masters. Your animal is a slave and has to eat what you feed it because it is deprived of its natural habitat - the wild, and its natural diet and lifestyle. Domestic animals are conditioned for the purpose of serving as pets to and for human beings. This conditioning is done by generally sick and unhealthy people, so what type of conditioning is the companion animal or pet getting? ANSWER: A sick form of conditioning and the proof is in the pudding when you look at all the degenerative diseases domestic or companion animals, especially cats and dogs, are suffering from today.
Cats and dogs are sick today because cats and dogs eat the same crap as human beings. Cat and dog food is just as processed as the so-called food humans eat. The strange thing is, cat and dog food manufacturers put more synthetic nutrients in cat and dog food than human food manufacturers put in so-called human food.
Despite the nutrients added to commercial cat and dog food, the purpose is defeated when we hover in on the fact of the CHEMICAL ADDITIVES that are added to nutritionally deficient commercial grade and brand cat and dog food and that are actually poisoning and killing your pet:

I can't forget about all the "meat by-products" used in cat and dog food. The term "meat by-product" is an insidious umbrella term that hides the truth of what's really in "meat by-product." Consider the following:
"Most people don't realize that terms like 'meat by-products' can actually mean poultry feather meal, connective tissue (gristle), leather meal (yes, leather, like used to make belts or shoes), fecal waste from poultry and other animals, and horse and cattle hair." - Richard H. Pitcairn
So the cat and dog food industry are screwing your companion animal(s) the exact same way the fast food industry is screwing over human beings. The RAVE Diet video (DVD) and the movie "Fast Food Nation: The Movie" both show in detail how fecal matter is in meat (hamburger meat) and fast food insiders know this and have known it all along. People (human beings) are now being fed and are eating "shit." Please forgive the language but it must be told the way it really is. We can't sugar coat anything to placate a few people's sensitive ears. Sugar is a poison anyway! Lord knows I don't want to poison the information and truth about anything. This is what government and politicians do.
Soon we'll be dealing with a real live situation like in the movie "Soylent Green" whereby people were being fed and were eating "people." Things will come to this if people collectively don't become aware of what they are eating and what goes into this processed foodstuff they're eating. These corporations (fast food joints) will feed you anything nowadays, including poison, and all for the sake of making profit. Did you see the movie "Super Size Me"? Well, this movie substantiates my claim. People who eat fast food are slowly but surely killing themselves.
Like what was shown and actually proven in the movie "The Corporation", corporations have the nature of a psychopath, so you must beware.
So yes, cat and dog food manufacturers are feeding your animals waste by-products (garbage) under the guise of "meat by-products," but also under the banner of "bone meal." Please reference the following:
"Robert Abady, founder of the Robert Abady Dog Food Company, describes meat and bone meal as "generally comprised of ground bone, gristle, and tendons, and is cheapest and least nutritious of the byproduct meals. The same is true of lamb meal, poultry or chicken meal, or fish meal. All of these are widely used in pet foods." - Richard H. Pitcairn
According to the research of dog care expert Andrew Lewis, your cat and dog are even eating GROUND UP CAT AND DOG:
"The city of Los Angeles alone, for example, sends some two hundred tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a pet food plant every month. Not only is this immoral and disgusting... it's deadly. The true horror is the drug used to kill these stray and abandoned animals, Sodium Pentobarbital, is not broken down by the manufacturing process and is still present in active form in your dog's food!!"
And further:
"And dog food companies don't stop with pets, your dog is also eating euthanized animals from zoos, animal control and putrid, decaying road kill. All of these dead animals and other ghastly materials are processed until the portion left over for dog food production is a brown powder, which consists of ...25% fecal matter - yes, 25% animal crap!" The synthetic vitamins, minerals, and amino acids (coupled with meat by-products, and chemical additives and preservatives) being used in commercial brand pet products (food and nutrients) do not do justice to your animal's health just as synthetic vitamins, minerals, and amino acids sold to humans in health food stores do not do justice to human health. These vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in human and animal food are basically metals or oxides.
Marc Lappe said it best when he stated: "Sensitive assays have detected residues of over a hundred different foreign chemicals and substances that were virtually absent from the environment of our predecessors."
Commercial cat and dog food contain high amounts of poisons (i.e. lead, mercury, etc.) and their drinking water is also laced with sodium fluoride just like the water humans drink. Most pet owners are feeding their poor animal (pet) GARBAGE and don't have a clue!

So as you can see from the above, most animal or pet owners are unconsciously feeding their animals crap (garbage), i.e. synthetic nutrients, chemical additives and preservatives, waste by-products, etc., that account for a large part of their animal's sickness and disease and premature death.

[Dogs] are being programmed for disaster, for extinction. The preservatives in commercial cat and dog foods are doing them in, even to the point of death. Read Andrew Lewis's account below:
"Andrew, I'm very sorry to tell you but Noble is dying. The preservatives found in the commercial dog food you feed him have destroyed his kidneys. He will be dead in 3 weeks, maybe 4 and it's too late to prevent it. You see, the major dog food companies fill their processed food with preservatives to increase it's shelf life and maximize their profits. They know these preservatives kill millions of pets every single year but without them, their profits would not be as large... and that is the bottom line..' Andrew, Noble is dying for the sake of fattening company profits!"
"My own vet said commercial dog food killed my dog, Noble, because preservatives it contains caused his kidneys to fail." - Andrew Lewis
It's a shame how much poison is contained in commercial pet food, six of which have been banned from human food. Please reference the following from Andrew Lewis:
"In fact, through my own research I discovered dog food contains at least 6 deadly chemicals that have been banned from human foods because they cause: Kidney cancer, Bladder cancer, Skin cancer, Stomach cancer, Spleen cancer, Leukemia, Liver dysfunction, Major organ failure, Immune system collapse, Severe allergic reactions, Birth Defects, Blindness, Chronic Diarrhea, Hair Loss and Behavior problems, including increased aggressiveness --> very dangerous if your dog is around children."
I'd be remiss if I forgot about indoor and outdoor air pollution (caused by humans, of course). Animals (pets) breathe in the same things we humans do. Our Earth's atmosphere is greatly toxic, thanks to we humans. I don't care if you as an individual didn't directly pollute the atmosphere and environment. You played a part as a consumer. You bought and buy things that are detrimental to the planet. Corporations are not making products with harmful chemicals just to be making products. They are selling their products to YOU, I, WE, and US!
 As unconscious consumers who purchase products with non-Earth friendly ingredients from irresponsible corporations, we aid and abet corporations, big business, and government in destroying the planet and its environment, ecology, and wildlife. In destroying Nature we are destroying ourselves, as we are one with Nature. You can't harm Mother Earth without her children also being harmed in the process. So-called uncivilized, backward, and savage people (i.e. "natives," so-called "Third World citizens") knew this and know this, but evidently not us so-called enlightened, refined, city dwellers of developed and industrial nations.
Our consumerism as UNCONSCIOUS CONSUMERS who only care about how a product looks, tastes, feels, and smells is doing serious harm to all life. I don't even fault corporations, big business, and government anymore. I now know that it is people (consumers) who are responsible for all (well, most of) the detriment. Government, corporations, and big business give us what we desire. They are into service and that's what they do - service our needs, legitimate or concocted.
They (government, corporations, and big business) are the manifestation of the collective consciousness of the people. So can you really fault entities or institutions that give us as a collective what we want or desire? You can argue mind control, propaganda, and subliminal messaging all day long but is it an entity's fault that you don't control your own mind? Planet Earth is a free will zone and you/we have freedom of choice. If you really desire the truth the Universe will deliver it to you. We cannot be deprived of anything we desire, be it good or bad.
And what about electromagnetic health? Companion animals also suffer from the negative effects of EMF's (electromagnetic frequencies) just as their human owners do. Cats and dogs are greatly exposed to the harmful effects of radiation, especially those that live in the houses of their masters which usually contain large television sets, microwave ovens, stereo receivers, telephones, and computers. And what about those power lines that are the result of one greedy little man - J.P. Morgan?
Nikola Telsa, unacknowledged scientist, was going to give us wireless communication some 80-90 years ago, but J.P. Morgan (who owned the Titanic ocean liner and who purposely sank it [well, it was actually another much older ship called 'the Olympic' that was sent out as the Titanic on her maiden voyage] in 1913 by detonating a bomb so as to sink the ship to collect on the insurance money which got Morgan ten times the amount it actually cost to build the real Titanic) controlled most of the copper in the U.S. at this time and knew he could make a fortune if government went with wire lines as supposed to satellite. Money in the hands of evil people is very dangerous. Evil people have most of the world's wealth and thus power and this is a large part why the planet (and people) are so controlled and the planet messed up.
Modern electrical devices harm your pet(s) just as they harm yourself and your family members. As a pet owner yourself, have you not thought about this?
And because animals are alive and have an energy field, they too are also subject to negative energy cast off or emitted by humans. Most animals, especially dogs, pick up the energy of their owner(s). A hostile and aggressive dog is simply reacting to and reflecting the energy of its owner just as a friendly and relaxed dog is also reacting to and reflecting the energy of its owner. Energy or auric health also impact your animal's health and on all levels. Most pet owners are unconscious of their emotions or feelings in relation to their animals.
"Except perhaps for a few brief verbal commands or names, pets rely completely on the emotional messages communicated by our posture, tone of voice, facial expressions, and, well, just plain feelings in the air. As a result of this connection, pets often seem to soak up angry, sad, or fearful feelings from family members who are experiencing tension or conflict over issues that have nothing to do with the animal. Frequent arguments in the home are especially stressful for a pet, which may react with irritability or fear. Emotional tensions in particular may affect health problems that have either a behavioral component (such as increased aggressiveness, destructiveness, or extreme restlessness) or a nervous component (such as irritated skin, ears, bladder, and the like)." - RICHARD H. PITCAIRN
Companion animals such as cats and dogs are also citadels of parasite and worm infestation. These parasites and worms get passed along to their human owners who already have parasites and worm infestation due to their insalubrious diet that is high in dead animal flesh, euphemistically called "meat." But cats and dogs pass a host of certain parasites and worms along to their human masters that compound their already present parasite and worm infestation problem.
Certain parasites your cat and/or dog may be infected with include heartworm, liver fluke worm, and toxoplasmosis to name a few.
Even the common "mange" is a skin parasite infection in dogs. There are two types of mange: (1) demodectic, and (2) sarcoptic.
Microscopic mites that reside in hair follicles cause 'demodectic mange.' Sarcoptic mange is caused by scabies mites that lodge into the skin and make dogs and people itch.
All of the above explain why degenerative diseases exist and are so common in companion animals; diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, calculi (stones), eye problems, kennel cough, hepatitis, bronchitis, dermatitis, breast tumors, constipation, epilepsy, hair loss, and heart problems just to name a few.
And consider the animal-specific diseases, in addition to those above, such as rabies, chorea, distemper, feline panleukopenia (feline distemper; infectious enteritis), feline infectious peritonitis, feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia, ticks and fleas (external parasites), and feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR) that you really have to think about for your companion animal that is subject to acquiring and manifesting said diseases. Clearly, animal health is of dire importance for the serious and conscious-minded pet owner.
Despite being an advocate for animal's rights, I have neglected animal care and health, mainly because my focus was primarily on human health, but I have this aspect mastered and now spirit has led me to the area of domestic animals. Because human pet owners are masters of their animals, they have a responsibility and duty to care for and to maintain the animals and care and maintenance includes the area of health.
