PCOS, which stands for "Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome" is also known as functional ovarian hyperandrogenism. However, to really and fully understand a particular disease or pathology, we must break matters down into an elemental state and that's what I specialize in so as to help people understand things.
So pertaining to PCOS, let's break it down:
Poly = many
Cystic = cysts (sacs)
Ovarian = pertaining to the ovaries (female gonads)
Syndrome = A group of symptoms that consistently occur together or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms.
So when we put it all together what do we have? ANSWER: many or numerous cysts of (or inside) the ovaries that manifest in a group of symptoms that consistently occur together.
PCOS can adversely affect a woman's menstrual cycle, her ability to have children, her heart and blood vessels, and her hormones. Some of the common adverse side effects of this pathology include but is not limited to: amennorhea (no menstrual period), dysmenorrheal, infertility, increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, and back; acne, pelvic pain, and high blood pressure.
These small cysts in a woman's ovaries are fluid-filled in nature.
According to Western medical statistics, about 1 in 10 (or 5% of) American women have PCOS. The disease can occur in females as young as age 11. This female reproductive pathology is the most common cause of female infertility (not being able to get pregnant) in American women.
Because this disease or pathology is located at the ovaries and thus affect the ovaries, PCOS is and can be considered an endocrine system pathology or defect, or a hormonal system pathology or disorder.
In females with PCOS, the ovaries don't make all of the hormones they need for any of the eggs contained in them to fully mature. Follicles may start to grow and build up fluid. However, no one follicle becomes large enough. Instead, some follicles remain as cysts. Since no follicle becomes large enough and no egg matures or is released, ovulation does not occur and the hormone progesterone is not made. Progesterone is one of two major female hormones, the other being estrogen (Estriol, specifically), of course.
Without progesterone, a woman's menstrual cycle is irregular or absent. Plus, when PCOS is present, the cysts make male hormones, which also prevent ovulation.
When progesterone is low in a woman's body, chances are the lack is being compensated or made up in the form of testosterone, one of two major male hormones, the other being androsterone. In some cases, the lack may be made up by production of more androsterone rather than testosterone.
All females naturally have minute amounts of both male hormones and vice versa with males having minute amounts of female hormones, but when imbalance occurs within the body (in this case, the female body), disease (e.g. PCOS) results or manifests.
Now if the female body is producing male hormones, e.g. testosterone, this explains why females with PCOS have hair on their face, chest and other areas of their body. Testosterone (and androsterone) is what causes hair to grow on a man's body, chiefly his face and chest. If a female is growing hair on parts of the body where men commonly grow hair (e.g. face and chest), she is producing too many masculine or male-based hormones due to an imbalance with her female hormones. Her hormones are confused and when a female's hormones become confused, especially with those of the male's, there's only one reason: the female is out of sync at her core level with her femininity, gynic-ness, goddessness, and may consciously or unconsciously be acting, thinking, and behaving too much like a male or man. Yang energy is dominating!
The opposite of the female is the male so when a female acts other than herself, meaning acting out opposite of herself, then she is acting like a male (in some regard or regards) and an internal shift within her body occurs so as to synchronize her mind (thoughts, behavior, mannerisms) with her physical body. The body starts producing male hormones so as to attempt to adapt to life as a male or man. You may scoff at this but this is true. The body has an intelligence - body intelligence, and this intelligence will even go against Nature on the host's behalf for purposes of acclimation (to that which is unnatural) in an attempt to help out and/or save or preserve the host's life.
And yes, this going against Nature to help the host will lead to disease as disease makes the statement of imbalance!
Acne is also an endocrine or hormonal system imbalance. We must remember that the skin is an organ and secretes substances from it, however, just not into the bloodstream. So the skin too is a secretory organ.
To learn more about PCOS and to remedy it, we'd have to learn more about the ovaries.
Ovary. [Latin, ovum, meaning, "egg"] One of the pair of female gonads found on each side of the lower abdomen, beside the uterus, in a fold of the broad ligament. Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 3rd ed., p. 858
Now, what is the function of an ovary? "At ovulation, an egg is extruded from a follicle on the surface of the ovary under the stimulation of the gonadotropic hormones, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone hormone (LH). The mature ovarian follicle secretes the hormones estrogen and progesterone that regulate the menstrual by a negative feedback system in which an increase in estrogen decreases the secretion of FSH by the pituitary and increase in progesterone decreases the secretion of LH. Each ovary is normally firm and smooth and resembles an almond in size and shape. The ovaries are homologous to the testes." Mosby's supra.
Ovarian health is critical for women. Like other organs and glands in the body, the ovaries must be nourished. For many females, the ovaries also must be strengthened, toned, and revitalized. This process must be done even if one or both ovaries have been surgically removed because the phantom organ(s) and gland(s) still responds to the physical acts designed for the removed physical organ or gland.
A phantom organ is the ghost organ, just as we all have a ghost body that is separate from our physical body. Even though the physical body may not be on the scene anymore (due to being buried or cremated), the ghost body is, well, in some cases. This is why various people see ghosts of deceased people. However, I don't want to digress from the topic (which is very easy for me to do) with this subject that you may find very interesting and fascinating.
Healing PCOS Naturally
We can begin to heal any disease and naturally so (without medical intervention) by first modifying our diet, and in some cases, radically so. We may need to stop eating certain things and start eating other things.
In cases of all female reproductive pathologies, always eliminate animal products (meat and dairy) from your diet. Animals are pumped of synthetic female hormones that when they get into a female's body throws her hormonal system off. This is pretty much guaranteed!
Number two, 99.9% of all meats consumed are female! Meat-eaters are consuming female pigs, female cows, female turkeys and chickens, etc.
If you want to experience hormonal imbalance problems, all you have to do is consume animal flesh (meat) and excreta (e.g. dairy products) and you will get your wish.
Remember, dairy products not only contain the synthetic hormones that were pumped into the poor enslaved animal, but actually come from the animal's reproductive system, so anything from the reproductive system of an animal is going to eventually disrupt and impair the reproductive system of the unwise consumer. It will!
If women are taking (consuming) freeze-dried organ and gland products from slaughtered female animals to help improve their own female organs, companies are pushing these products because they believe they positively affect the glands of the human female.
Well, if the animal's organ or gland itself can affect the woman's body (her hormonal system), then it stands to reason that what comes from the animals' organ or gland (i.e. mammary gland), e.g. milk, can and will also affect her (human woman's) body, but because of what milk contains (e.g. BGH: bovine growth hormones, antibiotics, etc.), will ADVERSELY affect her body. Simply do the math here!
So, to begin the healing process, eliminate all animal products (e.g. meat and dairy) from your diet and substitute them with vegan transitional foods but make sure to eat mostly raw organic fruits and vegetables (as well as seeds and nuts, unsalted or salted with sea salt) and drink plenty of freeze squeezed and freshly made vegetable juice.

There are plenty of herbs that have an affinity for the female reproductive system and that nourish, strengthen, tone, and rejuvenate the ovaries and the whole female reproductive system and they include:
Sqauwvine
Red Raspberry Leaves
Maca
False Unicorn
Blue Cohosh
Black Cohosh
Dong Quai
Chaste Tree Berries
Sarsaparilla
Ashoka
Good Dherbs.com compounds that can help in the healing of PCOS include:
Full Body Detox
Total Woman Cleanse
Fertility Cleanse
Female Hormonal Formula
Female Health Tea
Female Toner Inspirant
I highly recommend that women first detox with the Full Body Detox,
followed by the Total Woman Cleanse, and lastly (and optional)
the Fertility Cleanse.
If you are suffering with acne and skin problems due to the PCOS condition, instead of the Fertility Cleanse ,
opt to perform the 10-Day Blood Cleanse.
Also, make sure to use our Facial Skin Healing Kit as well as our Healing Facial Carbon-Bentonite Clay Soap.
You can perform all of the above cleanses back to back or wait 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, or 21 days in between. It's your choice. Go with the flow of how you're feeling, okay?
A good daily post-cleansing regimen can consist of:
Female Hormonal Formula (3 capsules),
Female Health Tea (1-2 cups daily),
The Mental Science Manual,
Moon Cycle Formula (3 capsules),
Fecundity (3 capsules),
Female Toner inspirant (inhale as often as you feel the need to), and if you're dealing with acne,
the Dherbs.com Healing Carbon-Bentonite Clay Soap should be used daily (whenever you wash your face) in addition to Healing Skin Oil (use in the evenings or at night),
Beauty Oil (use in the daytime), and
Bentonite Clay,
Moroccan Red Clay (esp. if African or African-American),
and
French Green Clay.
If you use all three clays (which I highly recommend if you're working on healing your skin from a skin disorder such as acne), use the clays every other day, e.g. Bentonite Clay (Monday),
French Green Clay (Wednesday),
and Moroccan Red (Friday or Saturday). Just make sure not to apply clay to your face every single day.
A person should steam their face first, then apply clay (let stay on for 10-15 minutes) and remove, wash face with
Healing Facial Carbon-Bentonite Clay soap and gently scrub face with a loofah brush for 3-5 minutes, pat face with cold water and then dry, and then apply
Healing Skin Oil
(or if you prefer, Oz Oil).
There are also some beneficial essential oils available that have an affinity for the ovaries in particular and female reproductive system in general that can be added to your bath water that will help you to heal from PCOS and these oils include: Combava, Clary Sage, Rose Geranium, Pennyroyal (1 drop only), Rue (1 drop only), and Cananga.
With most of these oils supra, 2-3 drops in your bath water will suffice. Soak for about 30-45 minutes. Soak daily or as needed
Like with every other degenerative disease, YOU CAN HEAL from PCOS or poly cystic ovarian syndrome! Remember, if you can conceive a thing, believe in a thing, then you can and will achieve the thing! Just remember the format: CONCEIVE, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE!
