Dietary or nutritional thiocyanate is a very important substance that is necessary for optimal health and wellbeing for Africans and African people in the Diaspora, especially African-Americans or Black people.
NOTE: When I personally use the term 'Black people' in my articles, I am referring to Nuwaubians, Moors, Nubians, Hebrew Israelites, Asiatics, Negroes, African-Americans, Bilalians, etc. I am referring to all camps of melanated people who unfortunately do not see eye to eye due to various belief systems, mostly those of a religious nature.
This substance called thiocyanate is found in specific foods, common foods indigenous to the African diet as well as some Middle Eastern and Mediterranean diets.
When thiocyanate is present in the African diet, it acts as an oxygen carrier and increases the capacity of the blood to transport the life-giving oxygen to every single cell of the body.
"When oxygen is provided in abundance to each cell, all activities of that cell function on a high level of efficiency." Kweku Andoh
Thiocyanate is a must have substance if one is dealing with the challenge of sickle cell anemia. Because of the oxygen-enhancing properties of thiocyanate pertaining to the cells of the body, a diet rich in thiocyanate is effective in prevention and healing of sickling of the red blood cells, commonly referred to as or known as sickle cell anemia, a blood disorder commonly found in populations where malarial infection is common.
According to Dr. Jewel Pookrum, herbalist and naturopath Dr. Laila O'Afrika, health guru Dick Gregory, and Ghanian ethno-botanist Dr. Kweku Andoh, the blood disorder known as sickle cell anemia acts a prophylactic against malaria, and strangely, is a desirable trait in areas where malaria is rampant, and thus making sickle cell anemia not a disease, but rather a nutritional or dietary deficiency. Of course not everyone in the natural health field holds to this contention and theory. Dr. Sebi is one of those individuals and he claims sickle cell is caused by excess mucus in the body.
According to Andoh, "Just as iron deficiency anemia is corrected with the addition of iron rich foods to the diet, so can sickle cell anemia be corrected with the addition of thiocyanate foods to the diet."
Andoh goes on to further state that: ...wherever malaria is a problem, the staple diet consists of foods rich in nutritional thiocyanate."
Further, Andoh states: "The painful crisis of sickle cell anemia is infrequent and not as severe in people whose diet is rich in thiocyanate. In fact, many people who grow to adulthood with the traditional diet, often are not aware that they have a blood disorder. Often, when these people migrate to foreign countries and do not eat their traditional diet, they experience a sickle cell crisis for the first time."
Based upon Andoh's words supra, this is why it is important for Black (or African) people in the United States to start eating more traditional African and Eastern foods. Our food should come directly from the Motherland because Africa has minerals in the ground that are complimentary to our bio-genetic makeup. Where ever you are from, country-wise, that land has special and particular nutrients in the ground complimentary to one's gene pool and thus all natives of that land need and require those nutrients for optimal health and well-being. Even if one is not born in the particular country of one's genetic origin and is born on foreign soil, he or she will still need to eat based upon his or her's bio-genetic makeup though the person has the ability to adapt to a foreign diet, though this could prove detrimental in the long run if the person consumes the foreign diet more than his or her own native diet based upon the gene pool.
An African born in the United States may be a United States citizen but bio-genetically speaking, the person is an African and thus has certain nutritional needs in order to function properly as a human being belonging to this particular gene pool.
A lot of what's wrong with Americans in general and Black or African-Americans in particular are directly related to what they are consuming food and beverage-wise and their living conditions.
Black people are predominantly eating a strange or foreign diet that is greatly insalubrious to them. This diet is very acidic in nature and produces a lot of mucus that in turn lowers the pH level and leads to a host of diseases, including diseases exclusive to or endemic to the Black community.
Despite being less than 13% of the total U.S. population, Black Americans, a minority in the United States, leads the nation in too many disease categories.
African-Americans collectively suffer at exorbitant rates of certain diseases, many of which are life-threatening, diseases such breast and rectal cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, genital herpes, fibroid tumors, high cholesterol, and obesity to name a few.
Now one reason why I don't trip on all the names we may call ourselves as a people, albeit Moor, Nuwaubian, Hebrew Israelite, Muslim, Asiatic, Nubian, Bilalian, etc. is because I deal with many people who go by these camp names and they suffer from the same diseases as those who may call themselves something else.
Many profess to have all kinds of high and mighty knowledge, wisdom and understanding, but they still suffer from diseases that the most ignorant Negroes suffer from, so to me, it doesn't matter what you call yourself or what camp you belong to because you're still in the same situation and condition as those of our people who are said to be lost or deaf, dumb, and blind and brainwashed with the White man's mind.
So to me, what good does it do to be a Moor, Nuwaubian, Hebrew Israelite, Asiatic, Nubian, Black Muslim, etc. but you're still eating the SAD (Standard American Diet), eating at crap-selling fast food restaurants, residing in decrepit and crime-ridden communities that you can't improve (simply because you don't even have the financial resources like a Donald Trump or Oprah Winfrey); can't stay married or keep the family together and living under the same roof, still working for the people whom you deem the Enemy or the Devil because you're dependent on them for your livelihood (despite constantly professing 'Do For self!' and 'The Black man is God!'), and the list goes on and on! What's the incentive in being in a specific camp? Is it ego gratification?
How come you can't convert all that high and mighty knowledge, cipher, wisdom, mathematics, and understanding into millions of dollars? Especially if it's so supreme and superior! And I don't want to hear that bullshit about being a poor righteous teacher either or that in order to be wealthy you have to sell out or 'they' ain't gon' let a Black man make it' because that's all bullshit!
I have mad love and props for all the so-called camps supra because regardless of the rhetoric and dogma, they are all Black people and I love Black people (though like comedian Chris Rock said: 'I hate Niggas').
All I'm saying is that there's a lot of rhetoric that separates the following camps but that same rhetoric ain't producing on the material realm. It ain't producing new condos, new private schools (with African-centered curriculums), new African foods supermarkets, new hospital and medical facilities where the modality is African naturopathic centered, etc.
How the hell can cats with supreme knowledge and mathematics gon' allow the likes of Jay-Z, Kenye West, 50 Cents, Snoop Dogg, etc. to outdo them or outshine them and on any level?
Jay-Z is outdoing the entire Nation of Islam financially, now what's up with that?
Black youth in general look up to Jay-Z, Beyonce, 50 Cent, Kenye West, and Jamie Foxx, more than any Black grassroots leader and why? Well, simply because grassrooters are not visible. They have no bling! They are not in the spotlight on their own terms, and it can be done.
How come if you have knowledge, wisdom, and understanding you have to be a poor righteous teacher? What kind of statement is being made here to Black youth? That if you're righteous and teach your people you'll be poor?
Now what kind of incentive is that?
How you gon' let an idiot, an ignoramus (i.e. rapper, comedian, entertainer) become a millionaire off of promoting negativity and bullshit and what you have is way more superior to the particular dumb rapper or entertainer?
You gon' let a rapper use his or her lower creativity to manifest millions of dollars, a large or phat crib, luxury car, etc. and you can't or won't use your superior creativity, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to match or outdo what the dumb rapper has on a material level?
If you've got your head together you're supposed to be on a superior level than the dumb rapper because you're conscious - you have supreme knowledge and mathematics, you possess supreme knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
A dumb rapper can outdo you on the material realm with his or her negativity compared to your positivity, higher creativity, and spirituality?
How you gon' master the mental and spiritual realms but come up short on the material or mundane level?
If it makes sense in your head it should add up to dollars and cents in your pocket.
How you gon' say you ain't about the money when you've never had the money (hundreds of thousands, millions of dollars)?
Where's the glory at in being a poor righteous teacher but you can barely make rent, pay your utilities, got your queen working a corporate gig and getting pressed up on by lustful males who be touching and feeling all on her ass and she has to take that treatment because ya'll need the money?
Where's the glory at in struggling? Who in their right mind desires to live like the Evans family of the 1970's sitcom "Good Times"? Ain't no glory in living like that!
You livin' like this (poor, paycheck-to-paycheck, on hustle mode, strugglin', catching hell, etc.) and claiming that you're God? No, what you do is disgrace God when you live like this because it doesn't glorify Universal abundance, prosperity, affluence, and wealth.
Ain't no glory in poverty, struggling, hard times, etc. None! Yeah, they can serve as lessons and teach you things, but to constantly remain in these situations, positions, and conditions? You're supposed to use what you know to overcome these situations, positions, and conditions!
You think there are no lessons and experiences to be learned and had in having money and being rich and wealthy? Life itself is full of lessons and experiences whether you're rich or poor, White or Black, male or female, young or old, etc. So basically, you have a choice in how you're going to be. I mean, if you're going to experience lessons and experiences regardless, why not then consciously choose how you're going to be (rich or poor) as you get your life lessons and experiences? Why choose poverty over wealth? Why choose ignorance over intelligence and wisdom? Why choose negativity over positivity?
Oh, if you're positive and righteous you can't make money, you can't be rich and wealthy? Man, that's bullshit! That's an excuse!
You can't keep blaming the rich White boys like Jimmy Iovine, Jerry Heller and Tim Field for what they are doing in the entertainment business. These White boys are simply doing what they do and do well. They are simply doing what Blacks allow them to do. Period!
Didn't nobody tell Suge Knight to be or act like a fool and dumb Negro and squander a $500 million operation in Death Row Records. Suge did that to himself and all by himself because of his thought process and actions which he brought with him from the slums and streets of Compton, California and glorified via rap music.
The White boys didn't act like that (how Suge acted). Bay Area rapper Paris, owner of Guerilla Funk Records and the undisputed king of conscious Hip Hop, didn't act like that.
Paris' music may not get much airtime or radio play but that's only because people are not requesting it. These radio stations will only play what they think people want to listen to. Period!
Black people in the United States are consuming alcohol and it's clear we can't handle it. Look at how it makes us act. Look at how illegal drugs make us act. The things we eat and do destroy us! We are too quick to impair and destroy our brains.
Nutrition-rich food can really help us to improve individually and collectively. We must begin eating the right and correct foods that we require and these foods, many of them, must contain dietary thiocyanate.
Dietary or nutritional thiocyanate foods include:
Almonds
Banana
Black eye peas
Brussel sprouts
Buckwheat
Butter Beans
Cassava
Cauliflower
Garbanzo beans
Horseradish
Lentils
Lima Beans
Millet
Mustard (greens)
Peanuts
Plantain
Raspberries
Rutabaga
Turnips
White Yam
Some of the foods listed above are controversial and because different respected Black healers and voices disagree, a lot of confusion surrounds the eating of certain foods that just happen to contain moderate to high amounts of dietary or nutritional thiocyanate.
Dr. Sebi admonishes against the eating of cassava (yucca) due to its starch content. Sebi's contention is that starch eats up the brain. However, cassava is pretty much a staple in certain African nations and has been eaten for centuries. However, I do hold to the fact that starch, especially refined starch, can impair human health as well as the health of the brain.
The banana is not a natural fruit due to the way it's produced nowadays, therefore, to many health conscious individuals, bananas are a suspect food. However, bananas are loaded with nutrition and are a good source of potassium.
According to Elijah Muhammad, black-eye peas are not a good or salubrious food for Black people, or the so-called Lost Tribe of Shabazz here in the hellholes of North America, to consume. He also says the same thing about turnips and cauliflower, all of which possess a necessary nutrient (thiocyanate) Black people or the so-called Tribe of Shabazz requires.
Messenger Muhammad strangely recommends the eating of foods that are not consistent with our bio-genetic makeup and that do not contain dietary thiocyanate. It is for this reason that many Black Muslim members of the Nation of Islam still eat dead animal flesh and dairy products which no wholisticly conscious Black person should still be consuming in 2009 considering all the information diffused on these harmful products. Black people are naturally lactose intolerant, so why consume products that your body can't tolerate? You're going to listen to religion or a religious book over your own body and makeup?
The Black man is God but he's eating the food of the Devil? This doesn't make sense to me!
While peanuts may contain thiocyanate, they also contain afflotoxins due to how they grow underground. Almonds would be a better choice. Peanut butter can be replaced with almond butter.
As my good friend and fellow herbalist Tim Morrow wisely says, "Eat the best of what's available because the best is not available!" That's true because in America, the best is not available, so we have to eat the best of what's available.
If you can handle a strict raw foods diet, good! But if you can't, you'll need to do something and urgently so your health won't be compromised or compromised that much.
If you have difficulty in eating the foods named supra or even finding them in organic fashion, Dherbs.com has created a new formula "Dietary Thiocyanate Formula" which is a unique and exclusive plant-based compound formulated especially for individuals with sickle cell trait and who suffer from sickle cell crisis and sickle cell anemia (iron deficiency). The formula provides pure dietary thiocyanate and other ethno-specific nutrients (such as iron phosphate) that is lacking in the diets of African peoples in the Diaspora and that leads to a plethora of degenerative diseases endemic to African people.
So now that you know the truth about dietary thiocyanate, there's no excuse, and Dherbs.com made sure of that by creating its Dietary Thiocyanate Formula which is readily available and very economically priced.
Thank you for reading!
Oh, and my apologies to any and all readers who may have been offended by my conscious use of ebonics and slang within this article. It may sound unrefined, but it gets my message across to a broad range of people I'm trying to reach so as to help to become conscious, especially health conscious.
This article is compliments of Dherbs.com.
